Chapter 13: Ripping Through Stone

The bitter taste of vervain soaked my tongue. My eyes felt sore from driving the entire night. I had finally found my gram's diary. The first twenty pages were filled with recollections of her last few days in this world. I was about to discontinue reading, but then I stumbled upon a familiar name: Enzo. The powerful witch, Enzo St. John, can help me get rid of Katherine's compulsion. Apparently he has taken of the Salvatore Boarding School. The school is located in Mystic Falls.

It was 4:30 am when I pulled up on a broad driveway with lush greenery on both sides. I stepped out to walk through the doors of the boarding school. The school lobby looked as grand as a hotel lobby. Small potted plants were also placed here and there. A few students moved about or sat on a row of chairs outside a room. That must be the office. A receptionist rose to greet me and when I asked, she led me to the office.

I walked towards the office, and seeing that I'm an adult, the receptionist let me in before the students. She knocked on the door and opened it after someone said "come in." I stepped in to see a large rectangular desk with a tall potted plant and small trash can on either side. The man sitting behind the desk looked to be on the younger side an quite handsome. His dark hair was neatly combed and he wore a descent suit. He looked up and smiled at me.

"Hello, how may I help you?" He said in a very bright tone.

Though I had been preparing myself for this interaction, I was suddenly at a loss of words.

"I... um... I... well..." was all I could manage to say.

He looked at me with a perplexed expression, which then gradually changed to a casual one.

"Here, please have a seat" he gestured with his hand towards a chair in front of his desk.

I stepped forward and sat down. I sucked in a small breath and spoke.

"Are you Enzo St. John?" I asked. Then I blushed and looked down at my hands.

"Yes, how may I help you?" He said with the kindness not leaving his voice.

"I was wondering if you knew my grandmother, Sheila Bennet? She said that you could help me, with, um-"

"Your magic?"

I looked up stunned. Enzo just returned a warm smile.

"I was actually expecting your arrival, Bonnie Bennet. Your grandmother had informed me about you. How is she anyway?"

"Hmm?"

"Your grandmother"

I fiddled with my finger before speaking again.

"She passed away" I did my best to keep my anger from showing on my face, because I knew who was to blame for her death.

"Oh. Well I am so sorry to hear that. Sheila was a very talented witch." Enzo replied.

I flinched. I still wasn't used to hearing the word witch so casually in a conversation. I quickly gathered myself together again.

"So, will you help me, with my magic?" I asked.

Enzo stared at me before replying.

"Yes, yes I will help you Bonnie Bennet."

Noah:

My blood rushed to my head. The pain that was inflicted on me had now changed to motivation to tear down the two blood suckers standing in front of me. Katherine and Klaus stood before me, covered in my blood. Scraps of my clothes lay scatted around me. The chains that once held me still were now torn apart and laid on the ground. As my eyes scanned the room, I noticed a change in Katherine's face. It changed from surprise to a smug smile. That sent me iff the edge. I roared and launched myself at her. My paws pinned her to the ground as my teeth instinctively went for her throat.

As My teeth sank into her marble body, I heard a sound similar to a rock cracking or the ground breaking apart. Then over that I heard a blood curling scream. It was Katherine, and she was screaming because I was ripping her throat apart. Normally I would've been repulsed by myself, but now, some animalistic side of me was in full control, and I enjoyed the sounds of her screams. Before I used to imagine her passionately whispering my name. Now, all I wanted was her to scream and writhe in pain. To feel the burning pain the anguish I felt. The feeling of being torn apart, the feeling of-

My thoughts were abruptly cut short. Suddenly, Klaus's strong arms pulled me off of her. He threw me across the room. I crashed against a stone pillar which shattered to pieces from the impact. I lay on the ground for a split second before returning to all fours again. I saw that parts of Katherine's stony bits nestled between the hairs of my reddish brown fur. I felt proud of my work. I looked up to see the damaged Katherine squirming and screaming from pain. I should've ripped her entire head off, then she wouldn't be moving at all. I then moved my eyes back to Klaus who stood poised and ready to attack. He didn't even seem to notice the other vampire releasing horrifying screams. His only interest was to fight me and prove his power.

I too was itching to sink my teeth into his throat too. Suddenly my sanity came back. My opponent is a very strong vampire who was strong enough to throw me across the room in wolf form. I am alone and may be outnumbered if the rest of his family came back.

Realizing my situation, I decided that the wise choice would be to back away. I had to make sure that he still didn't see my weakness. I would have to get out of the house and then loose him on a run. During our run back home the morning after I phased, Jake told me that traveling through water can mask any scent. That would be a better way of loosing Klaus.

I kept eye contact with the blood thirsty vampire while I slowly side stepped towards the door, giving the illusion that I was just preparing to lunge for him. I continued to step until I was right in front of the open door and was facing away from it. I stared at the sadistic vampire and released a threatening growl. Then faster than a human could blink, I had turned and raced in to the forest. I ran, but I could still hear the roar from the now amused vampire. I heard his footsteps and felt his incredible speed. I pushed harder on my legs to always keep a ten mile distance between the two of us.

I ran blindly until I heard the sound of flowing water. My body now had a direction to follow. I then let my instincts take over without slowing down. I ket my ears listen for the splashing of the water, my nose smelled the fresh scent of the water. My legs automatically followed the ret of my senses. They even seemed to move faster. After two minutes, I saw the bank of a river begin to appear. I had also realized that instead of ten, there was now approximately twenty miles between Klaus and I. I leaped into the river. My body inclined to ket the river's current pull me away, but that would make it easier for Klaus to catch my scent again.

Though my legs now ached, I pushed against the current of the water and went upstream. I swam for about twenty more minutes, until I could no longer hear, or smell Klaus's vampire stench in the air. I then leaped out of the river and shook off some water fro my fur.

I then ran through the forest, unsure of where I was going. I just need to find a well populated area, find some clothes, then phase back. My legs felt like marshmallows, and I somehow kept pushing off of them at each stride I took. Suddenly my nose twitched at a familiar scent. This scent was from the time I had visited the reservation and met my wolf pack. The pack! I must be near the reservation. That made sense. The sky seemed much gloomier than back in Mystic Falls. The vibrant green with the gloomy blue sky and the familiar scent of Forks informed me of my location. I really must've been running for a long time.

As I once again let my senses take over, the scent of my pack became clearer. I then stopped because now the dull ache in my legs had became unbearable. I trotted over to a soft patch of grass and plopped down. I then arched my back, lifted my head in the air and ket out a howl. That too was just instinct.

I howled again and then felt a surge of energy that started at my toes and crept my entire body before disappearing at my ears. Then another sound cam into my head rather than my ears. This happened when Jake and I were in our wolf form. We were able to hear our thoughts. The others must've heard ny howls, so they phased.

'Did you guys hear that?'

'Yes you idiot, that's why we phased in the first place'

'Chill out Leah, he just asked a question'

'Hey, don't talk to my mate like that!'

'Well tell her to shut the hell up!'

'Guys get it together. This is a new howl, maybe Noah's. He might be injured or in danger.'

'Well it was Jake's fault for letting him go with vamp-bitch of his'

'What else should I have done? I could sense the hostility, it would've turned into a fight right there.'

'Sorry babe, but you could've found some excuse for Noah not to go with that vampire'

'I'm sorry Leah, I was just scared and tired and had no idea what to do'

'It's ok Jacob, now let's go find Noah'

'Ok. Well since we have all phased, Noah can hear our thoughts, so Noah, wherever you are please communicate with us through your thoughts.'

My mind scrambled with recollections of the past few hours before I thought.

'As you guys all saw what took place, you can see that I had ran for a few hours. My kegs are aching and I am too tired to move.'

The following thoughts of my pack members were full of distress from what I showed them. Then one of them, who was definitely not Sam, Jake, or Leah, began to appraise my lunging at Katherine's throat and my escape plan.

'Noah, this is Sam. I am very impressed at your skill and smarts. Why don't you stay where you are and we can find you?'

'Ok' Was all I could think before dozing off.
