SCP: The Unforseen Variable (Old)

Murrey, finds himself in a new world made of laws he dosen’t understand. Find as he grows his organization creates a religion and tries to prepare for the end of everything. This book is being rebooted because I screwed up some plot points that I can’t fix aside from rewriting it all. So I’m doing a reboot. If you wanna get a sneak peek into what the reboots plot is gonna be later down the line I guess you can read this. I wouldn’t because it would make the pay offs less impactful, but you do you. Permission was given to me by Duy Giang to use his art for the cover go check him out. They’ve made some of the coolest and quality art related to SCP on a visual level and is one of the reasons I wanted to make this book

Path to Godhood

As we stepped in I saw what I can only assume to be Jody since he was wearing a Golden Green robe with a golden mask situated upon his face. Noting down the Wanderers Library meech that he seemed to have gotten I looked around. He had a very old desk of about 200 years that's somehow still standing, and a bunch of what I can only assume to be keepsakes lining the shelves. A leather chair that I could only deduce was made up of something extinct. The room was large, but not so large as to seem like he was compensating for something. The shelves were made out of burlwood though he did have what seemed to be an alter set up behind a stereotypical secret bookshelf. Wait a minuite how was I able to sense the alter?

Deciding to run a teat I spread my awarness throughout the planet and focused on the feeling the alter gave me. Connecting ti them all I had my System (Notification)s start going of constantly.

I quickly slapped a filter so that the constant feeling of needing to check something stopped fucking overloading my senses. After doing so I noticed a notification that was previously buried.

(You have Unlocked Divinity)

Divinity: A path to advance your power. The concept that you may embody can be "tied" to an existing one, or you may "invent" a new one.

Note: Creating a new concept requires 5 times the divinity needed to embody an existing one

Divinity: 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% to godhood

I could feel the power being brought to me from the alters I had connected to, and revelled in the feeling it brought. Snapping myself out of it Jody looked at me incredulously seemingly aware of what transpired.

"Leave us." He said authoratively, and the man who brought me here walked out. I stood there staring at him, and Jody staring at me. The one breaking the silence was Jody.

"It has been centurys since I saw you." He said getting up walking over.

Then he hugged me. "It has been way, way too long." And then he started silently crying as his grip hardened pulling me in further. I being somehow caught offguard slowly hugged him back. "I've missed you so much." He confessed, and so we hugged each other for 3 minuites. This was akward for me as it had been less than a day since I saw Jody, but I knew that I had been gone for centuryw to him.

After we stopped hugging and he started apologizing for wrecking my Trenchcoat I just willed it to clean itself. Jody then decided he would give me a in person tour, but before he did so I asked a question that's been on my mind.

"Why do you have a huge ornately decorated cathedral?" I was confused when it came to this as if you wanted to avoid detection building a massive glimmering building was not it.

Jody responded with. "I never took down the anti detection field the thing is super effective, aside from the Church of The Broken God for some reason, and it allows for the ability to grow crops and o be self sustaining." It made sense, and I wondered why I even gave him the option to take the field down.

As we walked down the halls we reached a staircase, and contrary to the glamerous halls seemed to have the shadows infect the stairwell. You could see the shadows become inky black, shifting and slowly dripping down only to retract to the ceiling the further you looked down. But as we neared the stairwell the globs retracted allowing us passage deeper within. As we walked past them I decided "Fuck It" and touched one of the blobs. Doing so had it climb on-too of me Jody looked behind. And I could tell what his face looked like mask on his face or not.

When the blob touched me I felt a connection to it, which felt weird. What was weirder was how doing so had it absorb into my body, and made me feel like something that was empty was filled, however small.

Now trying to learn what the consequences of my actions were I asked Jody. "What the Fuck is this?"

To which he then replied. "A mass of nothingness created by the husks of leftover souls that were sacrificed." If there wasn't a suspicion of dark magic shit it certainly was now.

Looking at the spot it had been absorbed I noticed a black polka dot in my skin. Deciding to test whatever I got myself into I focused on the spot and tried to "pull" it out. But was soon stopped as I felt a sense of loss when doing so. I did it anyway which led to the slime slithering out of my body. Trying to see the extent of my bond with this thing I mentally commanded it to go around my feet. Which is when I noticed a notification on my (Quest).

(Quest: If It Ain't Broke Fix It)

You in your reckless actions have gone ahead and altered history along with overusing your abilitys.

Fix it before the damage becomes permanent

(Rewards: Non-Permanent damage to soul, 1000 points)

——->

(Updated Quest: Power Through Faith)

You have found a way to repair your soul through the husks of others. But with how little that one glob filled it would take quite a couple thousand to completely repair, but hey you have a cult use them.

(Rewards: Non-Permanent damage to soul, New Companion (Soul Wraith), Alters Physical Form, Influences path to Godhood, Gain 1000 points)

Seeing this made me wonder.

1. WTF a (Soul Wraith) was and,

2. What would happen to me

See you don't just fill your damaged with the husks of scrificed ones and expect nothing to change. If I went along with this I was expecting atleast a physical change, AND a change of my very being.

But considering that it would probably be a good change with benifits I wouldn't mind doing it. Besides gotta put this Cult to use somehow. So just to make sure I wasn't crippling Jodys defenses I asked.

"Do you need these?"

"Well they're our early warning system, and amazing at slowing people down if not devouring their souls." He non-chalantly replied.

Now I might've done a dumbass move, but Infinity told me to touch it and Time told me I still existed in the future so it was fine. I still would've brought more caution if I knew the bloody things would outright absorb me, but yeah.

"So would you be fine with me just taking them all?" I asked as it would be a great help, but wouldn't be necessary as I'm sure I could do some mass sacrifices.

"I'd say you could take about half, but we still need some for the Holy War." He said as if not informing me about my religion, with me being worshipped, having been engaged in a war wasn't something I should be informed of right away.

"What War?" And by the way Jody shook I believe he also realized just how bad he fucked up.

(Quest: Deus Vult!)

Your religion is apparently engaged in conflict with another faction. Due to this Jody has put all cultists and missionarys on high alert, and hide to avoid detection. This has caused sacrifices to plummet, and therefore lowering your Divinity gain.

End the conflict through any means

(Rewards: 1% of Divinity, +25% (Religion) boost to conversion, 2000 Points)
