Chapter Six – Information

"So what did you dig up about the Everhart family?" Probed Isabelle who was at the balcony of her bedroom enjoying the light wind. Her long lustrous hair fluttered like the wings of a mighty phoenix and her hazel eyes were sharp like that of an eagle. She was amazed at the splendor of the vast surroundings, she heard about the unique magnificence of the Tchotchke Estate from her children but she was yet to witness it and she just caught a glimpse of it.

"I dug up a lot of things." The hacker cum private investigator, Floyd, answered after some seconds and deafening silence followed.

"So what is the information? Spill it!" Isabelle instructed and the private investigator felt a chill run through his spine. Isabelle wasn't ready to play twenty questions, she just wanted to finish off the business connecting her with the Everhart family and concentrate on finding who her real family and the father of her children are. As a matter of fact, she wanted her stay in Fairlyn City to be a very short one.

"The information is very delicate and it is complex, something that should not be a joke. Miss. White, I am not in the position to tell you all about the details of the information. I have sent some documents to you so why don't you check them out."

"Okay," Isabelle said and pondered for some seconds. "What about Nathaniel Sinclair?" She asked and Floyd frowned.

"I am trying my best to sniff out every 'closet' information about him but there is a barrier hindering me, it is just weird. It is either the systems crash or some faults suddenly arise from nowhere, and it is not coincidental." Isabelle heard Floyd explain and her cherry-red lips curled to a smile. Her hunch was correct, Nathaniel Sinclair was more than what he was.

"Nevertheless, he is an interesting case and there are some speculations about his identity…he has a powerful figure backing him up but I will surely squeeze out some information about him." Floyd said with a tinge of conceit in his voice and Isabelle rolled her eyes at his response.

After thanking him for his services, she ended the call. No doubt, her private investigator sent some documents to her yesterday but she didn't bother to look at them. After that dinner with her children, she was so engrossed in her thoughts of finding the father of her children that she forgot about the documents.

"Hmm…" Isabelle breathed in the clean air and a smile returned to her face. She was a little curious about what the Everhart family did that even Floyd judged that it was intricate. She felt that the Everhart family was hiding so many dark secrets. She was about to enter her bedroom when she felt someone's intent stare on her, it was as if there were two bottomless holes gluing her feet to the floor. She whipped her head and saw some beefy men garbed in expensive suits. They were striding towards a fleet of luxurious cars. In the midst of these beefy men was an Adonis who looked different from the others. Isabelle's eyes narrowed at them and she couldn't help but gawk at them. She didn't capture the man's face clearly as he was wearing shades and a black nose mask, he was in the midst of the beefy men as they served as protection to him. The outstandingly handsome young man turned and peeked at her and Isabelle's heart skipped a beat.

"These men are not ordinary men." Isabelle thought as her heartbeats returned to normalcy. She kept of staring at the charming man, as if trying to dredge up a secret from him. She felt an eerie sense of déjà vu when her eyes landed on that man's masked face. She had that gut feeling that she knew the handsome man.

"Miss. White, there is a letter for you and some gifts too." A machinelike voice pulled her out of her intense thoughts and she looked at the robot that took care of her sports bike the previous night.

"Huh?" She softly mumbled and wondered who could have sent a letter and gifts to her. It wasn't her birthday nor was it her children's birthday.

"Yes Miss. White. I inspected the letter and found out that it was sent by a man named Nathaniel Sinclair, he is from Fairlyn City and he resides here too. Would you like to write back to him?"

"No need to write back to him," Isabelle said. "Throw those gifts away, I don't want to set my eyes on them and get rid of that letter."

Isabelle's face darkened at the mention of 'Nathaniel Sinclair'. If Nathaniel sent the letter to her, then he sent the gifts too. Nathaniel…that unrelenting fool!

"Declan, any information about the new neighbor?" Lucian asked his personal assistant who was typing in figures and symbols into his tablet, obviously absorbed in his work and paying undivided attention to it.

"Nothing much but basic information. Her name is Isabelle White, twenty-four years of age and she has two kids…a girl and a boy." Declan uttered, pushing up his gold-rimmed glasses and focusing on his tablet.

"Is she married?" Lucian asked, his gaze still lingering on Declan who looked unshaken. The fact was that the man in gold-rimmed glasses was one of the handful of people who could talk freely with Lucian.

"About that…she is not married. Boss, I couldn't find out more information about her. It is as if she is living a sheltered yet carefree life," Declan explained as his eyebrows furrowed. "Though there are information about her childhood, education, career and all that, something about her is iffy. My conjecture is that she is from a powerful household, which means, she has a strong backing. It is also possible that 'Isabelle White' is a fake identity used by her for some objectives or both events can be possible."

Lucian looked at Declan and looked ahead. When he was about to enter his car, he caught sight of a young lady who was as brilliant as the stars. He had to admit that Isabelle may look weak in the eyes but looks were deceptive. For her to be able to secure an abode in the Tchotchke Estate proved that she was not an ordinary lady, after all, it costs heaps of fortunes to even take a peek at the estate.

"Is that all?"

"No sir," Declan interjected as he pushed his gold-rimmed glasses up again. "I found out that she once lived in Aurora Island before moving down to this city, Fairlyn. And she also worked as an impresario in Aurora Island. Boss, she may not claim to be who she claims to be. I think she has an ulterior motive."

"Ulterior motive? Wow, I see…" Lucian murmured and Isabelle's dainty features gleamed in his mind. Usually, people never dared to look at his face or even look at his back, they always kept their faces and thoughts hidden and melted like jelly at the mention of his name but Isabelle unintentionally defeated that age-old tradition. The way she stared at him was as if she was searching for something in him. In fact, she had no idea that she stared at Lucian Emmett in the eyes, the coldblooded business god!

"Yes sir. She may have gotten wind of the news that you are currently residing in your cousin's estate and she decided to live next to you in order to gain your attention. Everybody knows that you are the nation's most eligible bachelor." Declan explained and that earned a snort from his boss.

"But it is true." Declan added but Lucian didn't give a listening ear to his personal assistant.

"Boss," Declan called out again and Lucian hummed in curiosity. "You have a meeting with the HMX's new COO today. It is all about the proposals for the sites of the projects. After that, she wants to treat you to a dinner at a seven-star restaurant."

"Time?" Lucian queried.

"Noontime."

"Cancel that. I will meet with her later, I have an important conference this afternoon."

Declan's heart sank when he heard what his boss said. His boss was supposed to meet with the newly appointed COO of the HMX Company but Lucian kept canceling and rescheduling his agenda. He couldn't oppose or confront Lucian. Moreover, the newly appointed COO was infatuated with Lucian and she was very clingy, eccentric and dramatic.

"Make sure you keep observing Miss. Isabelle White and report any suspicious activity concerning her to me."

Declan sighed, "About that…, a letter was sent to her this morning with so many gifts."

What Declan said caught the attention of Lucian Emmett. Hah, he knew that there was something off about Isabelle White. Though she looked weak and plain to the eyes of men, there was more than a lot to who she was.

"A letter?" He smirked. "From who?"

"Nathaniel Sinclair." Declan said and showed the photos of Nathaniel to Lucian.

"Nathaniel is the current president of the Sinclair Corporation, his father stepped down three years ago. He is married to Beatrice Everhart, they have a son named Javier Pius Sinclair and they are expecting another child. Nathaniel Sinclair may be related to Miss. White." Declan explained as he gauged Lucian's expressions. As usual, the coldblooded business god was always lethal but the level of indifference when he heard about Nathaniel escalated that the driver could not concentrate at all.

"Maybe they have some sort of business together but it seems dubious on the surface," The perceptive Lucian said and Declan nodded meekly. "Look into Nathaniel Sinclair and report his dealings with Miss. White to me."

"Okay sir." Declan slowly nodded and the rest of the ride was serene and awkward.

Beatrice was seen in her bedroom, leaning on the edge of her king-sized bed, facing a gigantic mirror. There was a phone in her hand and a naughty smile wrapped on her face. She crumpled the gifts that was given by Isabelle and some strings of cusswords oozed from her mouth.

"You…Beatrice, what do you want from me? What is it this time around?" A voice spoke at the other end, that was the voice of a middle-aged woman and it was obvious that she was very upset.

"Hey…do me a little favor by calming down and paying attention to what I have to say. It has been long since we talked to each other, long time no see…no texts…no calls…" Beatrice taunted in a sickening singsong voice and the other woman spurted out the drink in her mouth.

The furious lady scowled and grunted, "Oh you venomous snake, you have never changed even after all these years, what do you want from me?"

Beatrice smirked, "Thalia, I need a favor from you."

The other woman named Thalia let out a big yawn and Beatrice could hear that, "What is this 'big' favor you need me to help you with?"

"Do you know any lady named Isabelle White?"

Thalia slightly frowned and almost wanted to say 'no'. After all, there were so many ladies with the name 'Isabelle White', why was Beatrice asking her when she had access to search engines like Google? She could also hire a private investigator.

"Why are you asking me such a question? Who the hell is Isabelle White?" She asked Beatrice who grimaced.

Letting out a sigh, Beatrice explained the whole details to Thalia who listened with rapt attention.

"At least you have your man back and you have a son for him, what else do you want?" Thalia asked with frustration in her voice and Beatrice kept quiet for some seconds.

"I want you to cover up the traces of the mess left behind," Said Beatrice who was panicking. After witnessing the up-to-the-minute version of Penelope Everhart, she had a strong feeling in her innermost guts that Isabelle would come back to seek for more information surrounding the birth of her children. In fact, her comeback would be squillion times mightier than their last meeting.

"Can't you do it yourself? I have some 'detty' missions to accomplish. Sorry but I can't help you." Thalia quickly turned down Beatrice's request.

Some cusswords rang out from Beatrice's mouth. She was obviously disappointed and she was fighting the urge not to smash the fragile objects in her room.

"Do you want Penne…Isabelle to find out that she is not just the mother of two children? You know the shady things we did with her babies, do you want her to find out? You know what will happen when she finds out that we sold her other babies…" Beatrice voiced out her frustration but she was interrupted by Thalia.

Thalia frowned and almost clutched her phone tightly, "Beatrice, are you in any way threatening me?" She pushed her liquor to the side and wished she could hit Beatrice.

"Indeed, I am threatening you." Beatrice agreed and waited for the other's response but nothing happened. "You think I know that the law enforcement agency have been looking for you. I can just manipulate the whole lot and report you to the law enforcement agency and you will spend the rest of your life behind the bars. As a matter of fact, I know your hideouts in and out of the nation. I know your current hideout, you are not in Fairlyn City? You are in Starl…"

"B-E-A-T-R-I-C-E!" Thalia yelled in a frustrated tone and Beatrice smirked as if she was the conqueror.

"Do you agree with me, Thalia Frostbite?"

Thalia felt like she made a deal with the devil himself. She knew that Beatrice was unscrupulous, cunning and would go extra miles to get what she wants. She would do horrible things and journey to the forbidden places in the world just to make sure that things go in her favor.

"Okay, let's get this thing done." Thalia surrendered and there was a smirk on Beatrice's lips.
