Return of the Strongest Angel

"Are you sure you can beat this game?" It was a question quite commonly asked of Gabriel, all of his friends and family were worried for him. All because of his obsession with this game of his. They knew of its hellish difficulty and were worried it might consume his life. But Gabriel was not, as even with doubts coming from every person he talked to, he still persevered. And finally, after so many years of playing, Gabriel did it, he beat the game. But that was not the end, a cryptic trait, one that foretold something. And as of the next day it was finally revealed. Not only was he pulled into the game, but it was turned into reality, his stats, his hard earned character. It was all gone. But this did not deter Gabriel. All he did was smile, grasp the stars in the night sky. "I will conquer this again." There was no doubt in his mind, for he had done it once, and even if this was reality now, the whole world taken to this hellish tower, there was no doubt that he would beat it, after all he had already done it once. What was a second time.

Demon - 1

His ears rang with a sort of incessant ringing that broke through all of his defenses, a roar that with one look broke through the stone cold expression of his.

It was a relatively safe exploratory mission, one to the edge of the territory to check upon the cursed town. Yet each step took that much more effort, a breath and he could feel himself being dragged down deeper into the dirt.

He swiped his hand over the frog that had tried to grab his body and place him upon its lips. But it soon found its fate, dead and prodded to the ground.

Each part of its body turned into nothing more than a mere cube, as with all things, none could withstand his scalpel.

Yet still, his expression found its way back to the same one he had started with. For all the surprise in the world, none could truly take him.

And for that Vahn found himself inspecting the corpse of the nearest man, wading through walls of wheat and other such crops in order to take upon his hands the corpse.

Vahn's scalpel found its way into his hands, a sparkling light that grew the scalpel to the exact length, all while preserving the edge.

He cut into the man, a frown placed over his face as he turned the organs over, checking for many things.

All the same, yet different in a way never before seen. As if some sort of effect had taken place. One that had artificially aged the body.

As Vahn could tell, the bodies structure told him many things. Chief among them being the age. Four days, it was four days old.

Yet it appeared to be of an adult. Nearing his early thirties, a contradiction he was unable to truly take as a soldier appeared at his side.

"Lord Knight, we have secured the area, orders?" His full name was Vahn of the Knight family. Loyal to the kingdom and the lord of the area. Including this town.

"Gather, this demon must be put down. I feel that this angel may not be enough."

There were murmurs at his words, as if they could not believe that the Goddess's chosen warrior would not be able to prevail.

But Vahn was different, he saw the beads of sweat that ran down the angel's face, the grit teeth and tighter grip. But most of all, the body.

He had seen it once before, looking down he could not help but compare the two. They were eerily similar.

"This angel, he must be newly born. But what… why send a newborn angel against a threat of this level."

Blood already poured down his face, mixing with the sweat and creating a horrid mixture that seemed to only further enrage the demon.

As even with the hole in its chest, even with blood flowing like a river from said wound. It fought with a ferocious touch.

One that could not be blocked, only dodged.

But not for long, as the knights secured the vulnerable that they could find, and gathered around his protection.

Vahn clasped his hand in a gesture. His hands creating an intricate structure, all to focus the mana within his body.

He gave it structure, guiding it to the right path, and within a moment it had done so.

A grazing touch to each and every knight, it brought Vahn to his knees, panting. But what he had done had made up for it.

A shield with all of his power divided into them, and a sharpness enchantment to pierce the leather of the demon.

It was all Vahn could do to help the angel, to help his knights. But even so, as he was dragged to the carriage once more, by an errant squire, he could not help the impassive face he made.

As his hopes were crushed to edgeless nihilism.

The angel brought forth his sword, twisting it in such a way that the demons claw washed over it, like a particularly strong waterfall.

Blood intermixed with sweat and fell upon his tongue, creating an unholy mixture that caused Gabriel to spit to the side.

Yet even with all the difficulty, with every bruise and pushback.

For every difficulty a crazy smile lit his face with a manic expression that rose forth into the sky. It brought him further and further. Through storms of fire and brimstone.

And once he had made it to eye level with the demon he twisted his sword once more, placing it tighter upon his hand.

His thumb twitching a storm, he flapped his wings once more, turning all of that dexterity he had placed into his stats into pure speed.

Gabriel passed through the demon, a pass that brought a cut to the face. Blood pooling on his sword and the shoulder.

Gabriel grit his teeth, even as his damage stunned the demon, a servant. He was strong, yes, but Gabriel knew their patterns, their habits.

He closed his eyes, an imagination of a genius, solely focused on one subject.

A flap of his wings brought him further into the air, then down once more.

He dodged the retaliatory strike, the air further pushing him into the ground.

Yet all Gabriel did was open his eyes, the force of which, even as metaphysical as it was, brought him closer to that everdistant goal.
