Chapter 39

It was 11am, Ian and Amara were asleep. The door bell rang and the butler went to check who it was since Ian didn't tell him that someone would be visiting late at night(he only heard the door bell because he went to the kitchen to get some water) he slowly opened the door and he saw Lacey, with a small suitcase in her hand and it looked like she had been crying because her eyes were red and puffy. "Madame, come on in." He said taking her suitcase from her hand, she got inside and he told her to wait in the living room while he goes up to get Ian.

"Young master, wake up your mother is here and she doesn't look okay." the butler said, knocking for the 15th time on Ian's bedroom door. "What, my mom... Okay I am coming." He said getting up from his bed slowly, because he didn't want to wake Amara up. He walked out of the room and he went downstairs to the living room and he found Lacey sitting on the couch with her head buried in the hands."Mom, why are you here at this hour." Ian asked. He sat down next to her and she lifted her face up, Ian could see how red and swollen her eyes were. "Mom have you been crying, what's the matter, and what's with the suitcase?" Ian asked, looking at Lacey. What exactly had happened. Did she get into an argument with Charles, were they going to get a divorce. "Ian is it okay, if I stay here for a month?"Lacey asked. Her voice was dry and low. "Yes of course mom, you're more than welcome to stay at my house for as long as you want, but you have to tell me what the problems is, did you and dad get into an argument or something?"Ian asked. "Worse... I can't do this anymore, you know, well at least I don't have much time left, at least I don't have much time left as Lacey." She said with tears running down her eyes. "Mom, what do you mean?"Ian asked her. "Your dad has been lying to me for all these years. I was a fool, a big fool. He told me everything because he had no choice." Lacey said, her voice was shaking. Ian instantly hugged her, he knew exactly what she was talking about, but he didn't expect things to turn out like this. "Mom, it's okay, just calm down and tell me." Ian said. "Ian, I've been living a lie my entire life, I am just a copy of your mother, your mother died a long time ago... And now some of my circuits are damaged and if I don't get renewed the I will lose Lacey's memories and I won't lose all human emotions and I will become a complete robot and I'll kill all of you I can't believe this, how could your father keep such a thing from me? "Lacey cried. Ian couldn't believe it, he knew that Lacey was an android but he didn't know that they were going to lose Lacey."Mom don't cry I am sure that you will be fixed." Ian said. "Wait Ian, why do you not look surprised or hurt at all about me not being your mother?" Lacey asked, she looked at Ian eyes for answers and his silence told her everything. "You knew it all along didn't you? Am I surrounded by liars everywhere I go?"Lacey asked herself. "Mom I am sorry I didn't mean to hide the truth from you."Ian said truthfully." OH really? Then what was you intent to begin with, hide the truth from me forever, I thought that you were different from your father. "Lacey said. "Mom, I am deeply sorry. We did not intend to hurt you." Ian said. "You know what, it's better if I lose Lacey's memories, maybe I will be free from all of you." Lacey said. "What? Mom if you leave then what are we going to tell Dorothy." Ian asked. "Dorothy doesn't know anything. We didn't get you created for nothing, it all just for Dorothy. When mother died Dorothy was still an infant and she only had dad and I left and dad wasn't still able to cope with the loss of his wife, he always buried himself in work because he wanted to try and keep himself busy because of the pain he felt in his heart. Dorothy had no one, and dad also wanted her to grow up in a complete family. "Ian said truthfully. "Then why didn't he just get married again?" Lacey asked, this actually made no sense to her. Why would you create an android instead of getting married or finding a nanny. "He loved mom deeply to get married again, so his friend told him about the idea of creating you, and storing the original Lacey's memories in you, at first he was against it but he agreed because he wanted Dorothy to have Lacey not any other woman." Ian said, and that didn't make Lacey feel any better it just made her want to leave and go far, far away from this liars. She felt deceived, by the people she trusted with her whole life. "I am sorry Ian, but I can't do this... I just can't, call you father and tell him to meet me tomorrow we are getting a divorce and I want to get rid of Lacey from me." She said. "What, what do you mean?" Ian asked her. "I do want to be fixed but I also want to get rid of Lacey's meniri8and personality from me, I want to start a new life, I don't want to live a lie anymore, and if possible I want to change my appearance too." She said. "What, the what are we supposed to tell Dorothy and the others and the world too." Ian asked. "I don't know you can just make up story saying that I've gone missing." She said. "Why don't you go and rest and we can talk tomorrow." Ian said. "of course I do need rest, but I am done talking there is nothing for us to talk about anymore. Just show me where I will be sleeping." She said, Ian had nothing to say anymore, it was his fault for agreeing to make a copy of her mother and niw the have to face the consequences. He will just have to find a way to make her change her mind but that wouldn't be easy because come to think of it if he were her he would have said and done what she did.
