Chapter 38

"Lacey you've been in the shower for hours." Charles said knocking on the bathroom door, even though he didn't need to because he had see every inch of her body anyway. He knocked again but it was quiet the only sound he could here was the shower. He decided to open the door. "Lacey why are you ignoring me..." He was cut off buy what he saw. Lacey was lying on the floor with her face down. And her body looked pale he ran towards her. "Lacey, Lacey wake up. Oh my God, what the hell happened to you. He quickly turned the shower off and he picked Lacey up and he carried her in his arms and and he ran out of the bathroom to his bedroom and he put her on the bed and he covered her with a blanket and the he called the doctor.

After 15 minutes the doctor finally arrived but to Charles it felt like it took him 15 centuries to arrive. Charles was waiting outside the bedroom door while the doctor checked on her. He paced back and forth, his mind was racing with thousands of questions and his heart was beating rapidly, what exactly had happened to Lacey, he hoped and prayed that it wasn't something bad, because if it was then he did not know what he would do, he had already lost the first Lacey and now he didn't want to lose the second one.

After what felt like an eternity the doctor finally came out and he had a worried look on his face. "Charles let's go and sit down first." The doctor said, his voice was deep yet soft and comforting and he always had a good relationship with his patients he was one of the best and nicest doctor to ever step foot in to this world. "What is it Isaac, you are making me worried." Charles said as the walked downstairs, they both sat on the couch. "Well... Have you told her yet?" Isaac asked with a serious look on his face. "Uhm, no not yet." He said, he was now starting to get worried, why would Isaac ask him if he had told Lacey yet. "Well I am afraid you have to tell her." Isaac said, the seriousness didn't leave his caramel face, that was well taken care of. "What? Why now?" Charles asked sounding confused. "Laceys's mother board is fried, and the circuits connecting to her heart and brain are damaged too, so we have to renew her because if we don't renew her circuits and fix her mother board by next month I am afraid that her system will malfunction and if it does her circuits that connect to her brain that can make her feel emotions that we humans feel will be destroyed and those circuits are damaged she will just be a complete robod without any emotions and she might kill us all. "He said. That information was too much for Charles to take, why did this have to happen now. "You have to make a decision, soon." Isaac said standing up from the couch. "I hope that you will make the right one, she is okay for now call me if anything happens." He said. "Okay." Charles said, he watched as Isaac leave the house. He buried his head in his hands, his mind was racing with thaughts, wasn't there another way, did he really have to tell Lacey now. He sighed heavily, he could feel the tears in his eyes. He didn't know that this day would come so soon, the day that he would have to tell Lacey everything. He took a deep breath and he went upstairs to their room, it was about time that he told her everything, everything that he had been hiding from her for 10+ years. But at the same time he felt worried, what if he as soon as he told her the truth, she leaves him, what if she leaves him because he had kept such a big secret from her, for so many years. "Am I even a good husband." He asked himself but nobody answered him.

He stood outside of their bedroom door, inhaling and exhaling deeply. He could feel his palms sweating, his heart was beating so fast he thought that it would leave his chest. He took a deep breath again. He didn't know whether to tell her now or not, because one voice was telling him not to but the other one told him to tell her the truth, because it would be horrible if she were to hear it from someone else. He finally decided that he was going to tell her no matter what. He slowly opened the door. He saw Lacey sitting on the bed being busy on her phone with something. "Lacey, can we talk?" Charles asked, his voice was a bit shaky. "Yes of course, oh by the way, the doctor told me to rest for three days and not go out at all, even thought it will be a little hard for me because I am so used to going out but I just have to try." Lacey said rolling her eyes, Lacey like going out and having fun, but the doctor advised her not to even though he didn't tell her what was wrong with her. She just hoped that it was not some serious disease that was life threatening. Charles sat down on the bed next to her. "Hubby why do you look so worried?" Lacey asked. "It's about time I told you what I have been hiding from you." He said. "It's okay hubby, don't force yourself to tell me if you don't want to." Lacey said. "I am afraid I have to tell you now." He said. "Okay then if you say so." Charles said. "But before I tell you, just promise me that after I tell you then you won't leave me." Charles said looking at Lacey. "Well as long as it has nothing to do with you having a baby mama outside of our marriage, then I won't leave you." Lacey said. "Lacey you aren't real.". Charles said and Lacey gave him a confused look. "What do you mean I am not real." Lacey asked. "The real Lacey died 10+ yeas ago, you are just an android with the real Lacey's memories and personality." Charles said. "What!?" Lacey shouted, was her ears hearing this right or were they playing some kind of trick on her.
