Chapter 9: Planning ahead

My parents then ushered me to my room to sleep, they reassured me that they will get John to teach me tomorrow.

"Don't worry, if they can't convince him, I will personally do it" Olivia added

John gulped.

The next morning, I woke up early and then headed for the bakery, where both John and Olivia now lived. John opened the door, both his cheeks still have red marks on them.

"Uncle, why don't you heal your cheeks?" I asked

"I'm not allowed to" John grumbled

"Why not?"

"Because I said for him not to do so" Olivia said as she came behind John to greet us

Olivia then invited us in.

"Today I'll go help my parents with the business, John said you're going to read the book for beginners anyway, so he'll go to do his usual job, since your parents are both out today, you can stay here in the meanwhile. You and Ace know where to find me if you need help" Olivia said before heading off to help her parents.

"Women are scary" John grumbled "Don't say those words again kid, we'll both get in trouble next time"

"Here's your book kid, you can take it home or whatever" John said as he handed the 'Book of Magic for beginners' to me "But be sure to finish it by this week, and remember not to use any of those spells in there with my permission"

"Got it!" I answered back enthusiastically

He then bade goodbye and healed his cheeks when Olivia wasn't looking.

-Why are you working so hard anyway? I thought you wanted to slack off- Dabria asked

-Trust me I want to, but I need to work hard to make lots of money first-

-Yeah we also want to be rich so that we won't have to worry about financial problems in the future- Ace added in

-Besides why fight when you can hire people to fight for you- I agreed

-You both are idiots- Dabria grumbled

I opened the book and read what is in it, how to use multiple spell at once, basic healing spells, how to use your imagination for stronger magic...etc.

-I already know how to do all this through our secret training-

-Read to the end, maybe we'll find something else- Ace said

-I think I found something useful-

'Magic are separated into different tiers based on how useful, destructive or complicated they are. F to S'

-Are there spells stronger than S tier?- I asked

-Yes, it would be the SS or classified category- Dabria answered

-Hey Dabria, how strong would the strongest mage in each kingdom be?- I asked

-Artia, which is to our east, the strongest would be probably a grey core, since it is only a city of trade and commerce, but if it's kingdom who specializes in fighting or magic, white would be the strongest, people with black core are legends, it usually take years for some to level up, even for you reincarnates, it is super hard, by the time you're 14 and heading for the academy I doubt you be higher than a red core. So that's why people tend to not focus on core sometimes, but equipments- Dabria answered

-Do people live longer if they reach a higher core?-

-Well yes, only for grey and up, but it'll extend only for about 20 to 30 for grey and about 50 to 70 for white. As for black, about a 100 years.-

-Phew I don't want to be immortal, that would be so boring-

-Me too Perseus- Ace said while shaking his head

-Is there going to be a book for people with no cores like Perseus?- Ace asked

-Probably not, people who have no cores can't use magic, only reincarnates are the exception, besides reincarnates share their past memories with the gods who are responsible and vice versa, our knowledge will help you on your journey-

-Aren't you guys sharing forbidden knowledge by sharing your memories, like you know classified spells or something?- I asked

-We gods who are responsible for mortals like you can not be older than 400 years old of age, and like I said before, even you reincarnates cannot use gods magic, so sharing our memories will be fine.-

-Why no older than 400?-

-Usually they would have dangerous knowledge like forbidden spells that can be used by mortals, so even if they want to be like me, and happen to win the lottery and get a chance to host a mortal, they'll do it in other worlds where their knowledge is useless, like a world with no magic-

-Thanks, now our plan is to get at least 2 more companions, we might offend some cliché stuck up noble in the future so we'll need some help-

-Agreed- Ace said- Since you don't really trust humans, I'm assuming you are finding other magic beast-

-Yeah I would prefer a wolf, a dragon or a phoenix, any 2 of those will do-

-Why a wolf?- Dabria asked

-They are loyal, it will be beneficial to us, besides I also want to play with them like how I play with Ace- I said as I rubbing Ace small head

-I don't mind you playing with me, though I agree with your point- Ace said

-We need to visit Artia and other kingdom, my parents will do it soon, since they want to know the cause of my white hair from someone better than John-

-Yeah and get rid of possible troubles that will ruin our plan to slack off in the future-

-And don't forget, we need to get your revenge on that magic bear-

-Yes, after we get rich, I want to eat more meat, like fish and pork-

-I will be sure to remember that- I said as I pet Ace on the head

I did find a spell which me and Ace learned from the book which was storage magic to keep our future items, even though most people use items to apply the magic on, like ring or a pouch, I didn't need one, I can do a spatial storage, Ace could also do it, he seem to have an attribute in space magic.

That week, I excused myself and Ace to train in the forest some more, while occasionally fight some magic beast like a magic boar or a magic bear. I sometimes cut out some meat for me and Ace, since we love to eat and leave the rest for wild predators, our exercise kept us in shape so we were fine.

After that John just taught us the basic spells which we can already do, I didn't mind since it's just training and we can just get more familiar with it, I don't want to use a fireball and shout out "fireball" and inform my future enemies of my possible moves. I also helped him with healing some patient to reduce his workload, I get 2 copper coin for each patient. I learned the money system in this world which is just like any other cliché fantasy, 100 copper is equal to 1 silver coin and 100 silver is equal to 1 gold coin.

"Uncle, what are your magical attribute?" I asked when we were taking a break

"Water, wind, fire and light." He replied "What's yours?"

-4 attributes, wow, if he actually train to be an offensive mage, he'll be very strong- Dabria commented

"I'll keep it a secret for now uncle John"

"Already learning how to keep huge secrets at a young age, you do remind me of both your parents" he said as he shuffled my hair "We'll need to go Artia soon, but I doubt there's anything wrong with your hair, even the healer who accompany the knights couldn't find anything wrong, but we're not in a rush, let's go when you're stronger, we can show your talents off to those dumb nobles"

-People in this world have many colored hair, I don't see white being a strange color-

-It is strange for us, maybe you are a descended of those white wolves from the north, which I highly doubt since you're human- Ace replied -I'll still be with you no matter what, the goddess would agree, even if she doesn't say it aloud-

-What?! no!- Dabria denied as she mind blushed

-So you did warm up to me- I said teasingly

-She did warm up to you- Ace giggled

Dabria tried to argue, but me and Ace only teased her more

2 years passed, it was winter, it was snowing and the temperature was very cold, it didn't stop us from our usual training in the woods. After training for a while, we spotted 5 people who I assume are bandits based on the mask they wear to hide their identity. They were on a carriage with a horse in the front.

"Man these magic beasts are going to sell for huge money" One said

"Yeah those nobles are paying huge amount of money for this, especially that white wolf from the north, took us a while to catch it" Another one replied

"We did accidently cut one of its legs off, but they can grow those limbs back, those nobles are filthy rich after all" the first guy exclaimed

"Quiet! We trudging through this forest in the first place to avoid the knight in that stupid village, we better keep quiet, we don't want unnecessary attention" a third guy said

"Sorry boss" the other 2 replied

Me and Ace then hid.

-No way, cliché bandits that is walking through the woods, this is great, we finally have an excuse to fight someone-

-And just like those novels, they also speak their plans out loud- Ace replied excited

-And we need to save that wolf, if he doesn't want to be our companion that's fine, but at least we get to see a white wolf, I always wanted to see one-

-We haven't been funny lately, this is a great opportunity to gain back the reader's attention-

|C'mon guys, just when I thought the fourth wall isn't breaking today|

-You guys heard something?- I asked Ace and Dabria

-No- Dabria and Ace replied in unison

|Stop ignoring me|

-So, anyway what's the plan?-

-Only one guy has a magic core and it's light green which is lower us, we're dark yellow, we can win-

-This is going to be so much fun-

We then jumped in front of them in our coolest pose.

"Stop right there evildoers and release those animals" I shouted

"Out of the way pipsqueak, I can see 2 of your front teeth is gone, I don't want to destroy any more than that, scram kid" a bandit replied

"Are you guys not going to comment on our cool poses?"

"Why should we?"

"Well now you're dead"
