Chapter 8: The forest of clichés

-Keep an eye out, maybe we'll find another companion- I told Ace who is stand on my right shoulder as we are heading into the forest.

-Don't worry, I am. Any specific beast you want to have at our side?-

-I would prefer a phoenix or a dragon, they are usually very strong, but I don't think they'll live at around our area, what do you think Dabria?-

-Other than gods and reincarnates, phoenix have the biggest mana capacity, even though dragons have the best physical prowess and the second biggest mana capacity, a phoenix's mana capacity is large enough make up for it. They also have the best regenerative ability after us gods, but I doubt you'd find any of them here- Dabria answered

-Well aren't they like immortal?- I asked

-Not really, they do die when they reach their lifespan which is 500 to1000 years, they do not reborn through ashes like the rumors or myths. They can die, they just can't be killed...Well there is one way to kill them, it's to destroy every single cells in their body all at once-

-How long do dragons live?-

- 700 to1000 years-

-So what if we kill gods by destroying every cells of their physical body all at once, is it possible?-

-No, the world's mana will then just make us a new body somewhere else, though it is possible for gods to die-

-How? aren't you guys immortal?- Me and Ace asked in unison

-The memory sharing isn't doing you guys any good, you guys think too much alike- Dabria sigh - There are 2 ways, first is when we lost the will to live or if we choose to become mortal, because once we become mortal it isn't possible to become gods again-

-Why would gods become mortal?- Ace asked

-Usually they do it once they fell in love with a mortal and want to spend the rest of their life with their lovre or when they just want to live their life as mortal because they don't want live forever without a purpose, they become mortal to find a purpose-

-So there's no rules against you falling in love with me?- I asked in a teasing manner

-Dream on, but there's no rule against love between gods and mortals-

-Say what if you died, will there be no more death or something?-

-No, I'm only manifestation of death, if I die, living beings will still continue to die, some other gods might even take on the role for me-

-Good to know, Ace time to go for some run, it's good for us to train our stamina-

Ace then jumped off my shoulder.

-We have to be back by lunch time and tease John on the way-

-Maybe we should hunt some things to train our skills along the way- Ace replied

-Good Idea, based on your memory, you're the same as me, we are both at the mid yellow core, It'll be great to train since my training will be slower than average due to my large mana capacity-

We ran and trained along the way, as we run, me and ace both shoot some magic like water balls and gale balls to train both our accuracy and magic skills. We then stumble upon a bear.

-Seems like good training for when you'll encounter that bear that killed your parents- I said

-His parents was killed by a bear?- Dabria asked

-We haven't told her huh, to answer your question yes. If we do kill this bear, what do we do with its corpse when we're finished?- Ace replied

-We leave it for some other animal to feed on, it's not like my parent's taught me how to skin it to sell for money yet nor did they taught me how to do a clean kill-

-I don't doubt your skills since this isn't a magic bear, but you both won't make it in time for lunch afterwards if you also plan on teasing John on the way- Dabria chimed in

Ace ran to lure it out and he then surround his body with the wind to make himself more agile. When the bear was focus on Ace, he left himself a lot of openings. I then conjure up a stone spear and use wind magic to shoot it towards the bear's head. The stone spear pierced the bear's head and killed it instantly.

-Told you I'll be quick- I said as I pet Ace -Ace we make a great team-

-You guys are both so relax after having your first kill- Dabria mumbled

-It's not like this is my first time killing someone-

-YOU WHAT?!-

-Wait till you get his memories- Ace said-Perseus time to run back, use wind magic to make yourself faster, the faster we finish lunch, the faster we get to come back to train for the afternoon-

Me and Ace then surround ourselves with wind magic and ran back, we stopped using magic before we headed out as we don't want to attract unnecessary attention. As we headed down the village, we saw John talking to a woman who's most probably Olivia the baker at a bakery. She had black hair and amber eyes. We headed to him.

-You guys are evil- Dabria said, I also have an odd feeling that she is also shaking her head as she said that

-This is called having fun- Ace replied for me as he walked beside me

"Hey uncle!" I shouted

"Perseus?" John said in shock

"Is this your girlfriend?" I asked with my innocent face

"Girlf-" John then looked to Olivia who was blushing hard, he then coughed to keep his composure "Perseus, look at how dirty you are, go along to your parents now, me and Olivia have important business to attend to"

"So you must be auntie Olivia, Uncle John said a lot of nice things about you this morning" I said while smiling "Isn't that right Ace?"

Ace then nodded his head

"Really?" Olivia said while blushing harder

"Go along now Perseus" John said while shooing me away, his face was as red as Olivia's

"Have a nice date" I said

-Your teasing seems to work- Dabria said

"He reminds me of his mother" John grumbled while face palming as I walked away

I then arrived home and showered. I had lunch, after I rested, on the way back to the forest, I teased John some more after I saw he left Olivia's house, their date seemed to have went well.

I am now 4 years old, John moved in with Olivia and used his old house as his clinic. So every time I need to get babysit by John, I go to the bakery and stay at the back while Olivia is working, I also teased them and asked for some more juicy gossips. I might not treasure people in general due to what happened in my past life, at least I can treasure my family. Since people can learn magic at the early age of 4, I decided to ask John to teach me when he came back to take me back home.

"Uncle John, can you please teach me magic now? I heard some people can learn it at my age"

"I'm not sure kid" John said sounding unsure "People who learn at the age of 4 tends to be big geniuses who show early sign of magic talent"

"I can already use magic" I said as I gather a gale ball, because I don't want to show off too much

"What the fuck?!" John shouted amazed

Olivia who heard this then pinched his ear while lift it up high

"Ow ow ow"

"Mind your language in front of the kids" Olivia said

"Ok please, I will, but it hurts, please stop that" John said then Olivia released his ear "We got to tell your parents we got a genius in our household"

"I'll go with you" Olivia chimed in "We can both convince them to teach little Perseus magic, he's bound to be the best in the village at this rate"

We then left for home, my parents are both amazed at me gathering a gale ball in front of their eyes

"Hahaha, we got a little genius" my dad laughed loudly

"Of course we knew he was smart when he learned how to read at the age of 3, but this..."my mom said as she was still processing it all "I'll allow it of course, but make sure to train him gently, he's still 4"

Ace then jumped to my lap.

-Wanna tease John even further?-

-How?- I asked curiously

-Hehe-

He told me what to do which I found it a great idea.

"John also taught me a new word today!" I said smiling

"I did?" John said

"What is it?" My mom asked

John then realized what I was going to say. "No-"

"Fuck!" I said while laughing inwardly "He said it to me when I showed him magic."

My mom and Olivia then glared at him.

"Hehe..."John laughed awkwardly

-You guys are evil- Dabria grumbled
