Chapter 239: Auntie (2)

-Guys? Can anyone here me? You there?- I asked but got no answers as I relived my childhood and watching TV. Are we all really in the same test?

We're supposed to be in a test together and everything, and there should be a paper in front of me that tells me the task or tasks in some cases to pass the test, but nope, just a bit of my past memories.

Auntie always put the news on for me to watch and sometimes cartoons, but all in English for me to learn the language. Sometimes she would get me to read books which got me addicted t reading all sorts of novels.

"We have so far lost 12 countries to the monsters" the news reporter said "The US has deemed the threat level to be very dangerous and have asked for others to follow in their footsteps and stop them once and for all."

"Auntie, I thought that there are ability-holders, right? Can't they just fight the monsters easily? They're supposed to be stronger than normal people"

Auntie just smiled as she sat next to me.

"Just because you are born with extraordinary abilities, doesn't mean you can do everything, besides it's not yet time. Now ability holders are still weak, and most of the abilities manifest in children like you, rarely in adults."

-Guys! This isn't funny anymore, where are you?-

"Will I get one more?"

"Of course you will" she replied "The other 2 will manifest later"

"You're the protagonist of your own story, don't forget that" she said as she kiss my forehead

The scene then cut, our home is destroyed, people had to evacuate out of the safe zones, Auntie was pulling me with her as we ran. We got onto a crowded bus and were transported to this plane field that is helping us get out of the country.

People were shouting and pushing past barriers and lines of soldiers guarding the plane.

"Women and children are our priority!" A soldier shouted "We have limited space"

"Just my child is fine, she's just a baby!" A woman begged along with the others

"You 2 can go in" A soldier declared pointing at me and auntie

"No, I'll give my spot to that woman to be with her child" Auntie shook her head "Just save my boy"

The soldier then hesitated but allow the woman in with her baby before pushing the others away

The lady then thank auntie profusely before going onto the plane.

"When are we going to see each other over there?"

"I'm sorry, my dear boy...but like I said before I'm not going"

"Wait auntie, you can't leave me, you're all I have. Please don't leave me alone"

"Don't cry" she said as she wiped my face amongst the people who are shouting to be let in "I can't take care of you any longer, from here on, you have to be strong. You will face tough challenges when you arrive, they'll make you a soldier, but tough it out for me, okay? If it's you, you can do it. I taught you to be smart, so I know you can do anything"

"Just go there with me please" I begged "I'm weak! I have no one left!"

"Don't say that please" she pleaded as she cried "I want to go too, but the others will not allow it once they find out. I love you, but I have to let you go"

"Are you going or not?!" A soldier demanded "If not, I'll give your slot to someone else"

"Please Samnang, you are a gift. Remember that" she reminded as she hugged me one last time "You are smart and precious like your beautiful name. We will meet again, work hard to live happily. Remember your dream?"

I just nodded.

"It's to live a wealthy life and retire early to live with me so that you can repay me, so do that if we meet again, okay?"

That was what I told her, but it was mostly a lie, my dream was to be like her...to be a parent and be there for someone, she was my everything and that's what I aspire to be.

I want to be everything for my child, and to always be there for them like she was there for me. But I never told her that since it was really embarrassing to say out loud. I guess that I'll tell her about it when I pass this stupid test.

She then left me there as I got escorted onto the plane, and that was the last I ever saw of her.

Auntie then left the field all together and warped to a forest, her eyes were covered with tears as she ran. She transformed into her original self instead of that disguise.

Hypnos then warped next to her and comforted her as she cried her heart out after she left him.

"Sorry for showing this unsightly side of me, master" she apologized "I'm sorry that I got attached"

"It's alright, I expected this anyway, I know that it's hard for you to let him go. But you'll meet him again" Hypnos said "I tried my best to shield that boy's existence from the others, but from here on out, he's all on his own. You did well raising him."

"Will he really meet those 3?" Elektra asked

"Of course, but he will lose them when he's almost 16. A destiny that shouldn't be avoided. And after a few years, you will have to kill him and send him to that world. I will shield the others from finding out that it's you, I also concealed his powers and everything, it should reawaken again in his next life"

"How are we so sure that Phantasos is even right?" Elektra asked "Nothing is definite"

"That's why knowing your own child's fate is hard, even if it's just a probability. Samnang, Grace Leven or Perseus Silver, he will be my strongest child. And no matter what, we cannot tell him the reason for his mother's death"

"I understand, master"

"But before that we will have to fake your death and we can't just say that you went missing, otherwise he'll risk himself on missions to find you."

"Sir, he's one of the ability-holders" A soldier reported after he did my blood test upon arrival "The machine says that he has 3. From the characteristics, one is a common tier-3 ability, 'ferocity'. A rare tier-9 ability where one can alter his presence and a new unknown one that we can't determine, but the 3rd isn't able to be determined, but we can safely say that its tier is high"

Abilities like Ferocity are common and since many people have it, people have done research and proven there's a small similarities in blood between people holding the same ability. So people can now determine what ability you have just by your blood, blah blah blah details.

But like my third ability, there are unique ones. Only the user knows what their ability does when it manifests, and the secret of my 3rd ability has been with me since I was born, in this world apart from my siblings, only auntie knows it.

"Good, send him to the training camp" the boss said "The number of monsters are gaining, we need all the ability holders that we can get since they are strong even if they're kids"

The world has reduced the legal age to 16 in order to draft more soldiers. But a lot of lives were lost, and so to lessen the lost of their own citizens, most countries turns to the immigrants from the destroyed countries

But most immigrants were children younger than that legal age, so a new law was made for immigrant ability-holders who have no guardians to be an exception. They are to be trained and fight for the country they immigrated to, in return, the country will give them the citizenship and allow them to live in the safe zones where they are far away from the battle between humankind and monsters.

It wasn't met without backlash as people were against this, but they were given a choice, to choose between their own children who has awakened as an ability-holder to fight or an ability-holder orphans. As you can expect, they chose their own children's safety, not that anyone can blame them, I would've made the same choice.

This world isn't perfect, some live peaceful lives and then there are people like me, who are used to fight enemies to ensure the peace of the former. Since abilities mostly manifests in children, some people use trained children to do terrible deeds for them, and then sometimes we're even assigned to kill them if necessary.
