Missions! (1)

"What is happening?"

"I thought only few Third Year students manage to get 20 score"

"Who is he? Is he a Noble?"

"Maybe, i'm not sure."

The Gym got loud, Students started whispering to each other non stop.

"I don't think i'm that strong yet, Zero what is happening?" Link whispered to himself.

<I believe the Orb Detected the Seed, i should have blocked it>

"Alright, Quite everyone. There might have been a problem with the Orb, let me take a look and we'll confirm your score ok?" Abby spoke, checking the Orb for any malfunctions.

A while later, she found no issues to note but she still wanted Link to redo the Test.

Link approached the Orb once more, whispering to Zero "You need to block it this time, or there might be some misunderstandings."

He touched the Orb, and the same events happened again, but this time a different number appeared.

'12'

"It decreased, so there was a malfunction"

"Yeah, that scared me for a second"

"It IS still scary, a 12 score is still a high Power Level, this guy is as strong as a Second Year"

"Aren't Second years mostly Level 2 Mages? This guy is 14 and already a Level 2 Mage?"

"I'm not even a Level 1 Mage yet, it's not fair"

The students started chatting to each other again, Abby and the two professors stood to the side, looking at Link.

One of the professors bent down and spoke "Abby, Was that a mistake?"

"The Orb does not make mistakes, it is not a living being. I checked for any problems with it and found nothing" Abby said, still looking at Link.

"Then what was that ridiculous score?" The other professor asked.

"Not sure, but it was not wrong, that Kid is hiding something, and he managed to trick the Orb somehow on the second Test." Abby responded, she squinted her eyes, her interest in Link was growing.

After everyone settled down, they completed the Test for the rest of the Students. Link and his group were heading out when a Number appeared on the back of their hands.

"Is this our Test scores? Why is it there?" Fei asked.

"I don't know" Said Samuel as he started poking it.

<It's the ring, it's sending a minuscule amount of Mana to the back of your hand>

"Why?" Link whispered.

<Not sure>

Since there was nothing they could do about it, they left the Gym and headed back to their Dorms. After they changed their clothes the 4 of them met up outside, they planned on hanging out together since they don't have anymore classes today.

There was a building they all wanted to check out, Tommy explained that it was where they could get their Missions and work, but since they were still First Years, their choices were limited.

The building was the size of a football stadium with multiple floors. The main floor was spacious, even with all the people walking around they could easily run around and wouldn't bump into anybody. The four headed towards the main desk, it was huge enough to reach the end from both sides, giving enough space for many people to stand. On the wall behind the staff were so many missions and quests.

"Hi, are you 4 freshmen" A staff member noticed Link and his group looking at the board.

"Yes, we wanted to check what missions or work we can take, we need Points" Tom spoke, bowing slightly to the Man.

"Ah, no problem, for a Mission inside our territory, your Power Level needs to be at most 4 and for Missions outside, you need a power level of at least 10." Said the Man.

"What do you mean Inside and Outside?" Samuel asked.

"Did they not tell you of this yet? Well, let me explain. Our Academy is located inside an endless prosperous forest, many Magical Beasts live there, most of the Mission we can give may vary from Gathering all sorts of Materials or resources, or Hunting. About the Missions inside, they differ from assisting a Professor with his research or common jobs." The Man continued "But since you are First Years, most of the Missions we can give you might be assisting in shops or something you learned before coming here, perhaps Blacksmithing or gardening"

"You said one needs a minimum of 10 score to get Missions outside?" Link asked, when he heard about the forest he got excited. "I found a way to Level Up" He thought to himself.

"Yes, but only Second Years have over 10 score, i believe you should stick to Mission inside the base for now brave one." The man seemed nice, his name tag said Raol.

"I understand, but I need Points" Link thought of a small excuse and spoke "My score is 12, what Missions can I take?"

Raol looked at Link's hand, opening his eyes wide in shock "You're a First Year aren't you?"

"Yes I am" Link answered.

"I'm not sure of what to do, this is the first time we get a first year with a score that high. Please wait" Raol hurried off, he walked inside a room and shut the door.

"Link, are you sure you want to get a mission outside? I read about the forest, it might be too dangerous, even for you" Fei said.

"I agree, I heard that the further you go in, the stronger creatures become, I heard that even Professors do not dare to travel too far inside." Tom added.

"That means if i don't go too deep i'll be safe, don't worry i'll be fine guys" Link said.

"Yeah, Link is really strong, you guys should see him in a fight" Samuel continued "I'll catch up Link, so wait for me" Samuel showed his arm, with a score of 8.

"Sir, there is a small problem" Raol spoke to a man sitting on an office chair.

"What is it?" He asked.

"A first year came asking to get a mission outside" Raol seemed to be wary of the man.

"That is not a negotiable matter, tell him to reach 10 score in Power then come back"

"That's the thing sir, he has a 12 Power score." Raol said.

The man looked towards Raol, surprised.

"Is it him?" The man muttered to himself.

"Who sir?" Raol hearing him asked.

"Nothing. If he does have a score high enough then let him pick a mission" The man said with a smile on his face.

"Are you sure sir? What if something happens to the kid?" Raol was concerned for Link, he didn't want anything happening to him.

"Go"

A while later Raol came back. "Sorry for the wait, your request has been approved, may i see your ring?"

"Yeah" Said Link, handing him his Ring.

Raol took it and put the Gem inside a slot in a rectangular box, after some time he took it out and handed it back to Link.

"You have been registered, run a bit of Mana inside your ring" Raol smiled.

Link did as asked, his Mana lit up the ring and a screen popped up, Missions for scores 10,11 and 12.

Reading through them, Link saw Missions asking for certain plants, fruit and even Low Level Beasts.

"Thank you" Link was excited, he can finally Level Up.

"No problem, after you pick a Mission, give me it's name so i register it for you, then you can proceed to the Town gate, show you ring and you'll be allowed to leave, but restricted by a certain area so do not go too deep or the Academy will not be able to save you" Raol Explained.

"Alright, i chose the Ghoul Flower Gathering, Score 10" Link said.

"Ok, give me a second" Raol registered the mission, after that Link left for the gate, confirmed his Identity then Left.

"Kid, be careful" The guard yelled at Link as he was walking away.

"I will, thanks" Link answered.

The forest did not have many trees or bushes at first, but as Link kept walking forward it started to change.

"Maybe I should hunt around here" He thought.

The mission specified where the Ghoul Flower is, which is around areas without sunlight, Link decided to look for Beasts, and as he is doing so he'll find the flowers one way or another.
