Chapter 20: Not this again

Cao Guang was ready to exit his Spiritual World as he noticed an anomaly. A faint Silve Stardust had started to appear parallel to the Lightning Stardust.

Wait what, why do I have another element, my talent is obviously Summoning related.

Imagine the suprise of Gao Xuan and the guidance master.

"This, Double innate elements" said the guidance master stammering.

"Damn brother you are going to be unbeatable again" Gao Xuan sounded enthused. Maybe it was because of his talent awakening more.

He had fun imagining Song Xia's reaction.

This doesn't make sense a person can't have two innate talents. And mine is an innate Heavenly seed of Summoning element. According to old man Ying, the potion was supposed to unlock the power of the soul as form of borrowing.

The power of a soul. Soul indeed , how could I not see it the power of a soul. What if there were two souls assimilated together like Cao Guang the transmigrator and Cao Guang the native.

What about Ye Xinxia, she has two souls in her body, no it seems a bit different, she couldn't walk because of the second soul. Only when she became the Goddess was she able to walk I guess.

My soul had long assimilated completely with the original Cao Guang. That meant my talent is innate Heavenly seed while the original Cao Guang had a latent Double innate elements talent that was awakened by the potion.

How rare is this talent, yet a Cao Guang guy had it latently. Even more importantly if the soul determines ones talent. Does it mean that stronger the soul the higher chances of awakening.

Cao Guang the transmigrator could still faintly feel the existence of the original Cao Guang.

Human beings had yet to figure out the core secrets of innate talents. Demon beasts passed on their powers in their lineage, it was not the same for humans. Very few descendants had same talent as the parents or any talent at all. And now Cao Guang had peeked at a small clue of the truth.

Is this what scientist's feel

Cao Guang composed himself and acted along with the guidance master's hypothesis. As for Gao Xuan he was too immersed in his own dreams to spurt anything unnecessary. Although Cao Guang felt a vague need to coach this guy about this matter.

Besides he had another friend to tease and a master to blow the mind of.

Fire, Lightning, Summoning and Space I am going to be Mo Fan 0.5.

---

Cao Guang had his priorities sorted he wanted to first blow the mind of his teacher.

"I am sorry, You did what now?" asked a disbelieving Pang Lai.

" I awakened two more elements Lightning and Space. It must be because of that potion"

" What to do you mean, you have awakened two elements. Do you not realise the seriousness of this matter. An ancient potion that was supposedly going to awaken an element in advance turned out not just give you an extra element but two

That's it no more dawdling. Now go to Demon Capital and have an expert check you out. This is an important matter" screamed Pang Lai.

" So can this write off my debt?"

" Of course not" said Pang Lai as his tone went a 180 degree shift.

"Fine, whom do I meet and where?"

"Canton Tower in Demon City" Pang Lai replied " and make sure to do it before moving to Ancient capital"

Cao Guang's mood fluctuate d again . His three big ideas had failed. The Incendiary Fire patent may have gone through but it was military grade weapon and he was a soldier.

Technically he had a duty to provide the army with this and probably would not get a lot money back. On the other hand the Flash and Stun grenades were a consumer products.

He could sell them through his company or let others sell it while he ate a royalty. In fact he needed a reliable Light Mage previously and got one but it turned out he has no immediate use for him.

I'll will try to recreate something else later but for now Incendiary Fire it is. Maybe I can exchange the formula for a higher rank and some cultivation resources. A Star Galaxy tool would be good.

----

Cao flew over to Guangzhou while his friends continued to train in Dunhuang.

With his spirit grade seed, Gao Xuan and Song Xia would be able to fight a couple of Sand Demon Tigers max.

Song Xia was focused on learning the Shadow basic spell. Once she learned it she would be able to have the effects of the second tier spell anyway.

In front of the Canton Tower a plump middle aged man was waiting for Cao Guang.

Cao Guang recognised the person in just a look it was none other than Feng Zhuolong.

The creator of fusion spells.

Wait a second, I'll be able to use fusion spells from the get go. All I need to do is fleece .. I mean ask this guy.

All of a sudden Cao Guang felt much better about being a lab rat.

" You must be Cao Guang, senior Pang Lai's disciple. I have heard about the matter curious indeed. In fact I have a few theories already...." Feng Zhuolong greeted him enthusiastically before going on to subjects that seemed incomprehensible to Cao Guang.

"Yes, I understand senior, what would you like me to do"

"Nonsense you can call me brother Feng. No need to be formal. Yes, yes the tests, firstly some blood work if you will".

Feng Zhuolong led Cao Guang to his lab were he drew his blood before explaining it to him.

" It will hard to reverse engineer the make and ratio of the potion you drank. But there are some things we can still do. For example your blood to be more precise your DNA strands, are you with me so far, good

So yes, being a mage is a sort of mutation compared to a normal human being. As for those with Innate talents they have undergone a second mutation of sorts. However the descendants of those with Innate talents tend to not inherit any of these talents.

In fact only a couple people have done this. Well this is an anomaly you see, because non mage parents usually pass on their characteristics to their children, yet mage parents don't atleast not in full.

Mage parents still have a higher chance of having mage children but innate talents not so much. This is why the potion intrigues and the fact it is no more. That potion was able to bring out a second Innate talent within, why I am not sure, could be a side effect of your Soul.

Pity although Undead mages can interact with souls, it has to be dead souls"

Cao Guang felt his hair stand on end when he heard a respectable person like Feng Zhuolong say that.

" Moving on my research aim is obviously to reverse engineer the potion, but my secondary aim is see if I can let descendants inherit the innate talents of their parents".

Having a secondary aim was common in the magic research. A lot of magic research failed but interesting and practical by products came out of it, like the Layering spells.

It was a by product of early spell fusion attempts. Yes they failed to fuse different spells in a same person who had the talent to cast two spells at a time.

They also failed to fuse different element spells using two different people. But when they tried to let two different people cast the same element spells things turned out to be different.

After lots of development Layering spells were born. Right now layering spells and research on it was at the forefront of Magic Associations agenda.

They were working to see if a layering spell was applicable for Forbidden Curses. But it was a difficult thing to prove. How many at that level could cast a Forbidden Curse all by themselves.

Most Forbidden Curses needed a Forbidden Curse mage to work in conjunction with a large of resources. These resources all were for strategic deterrence against demon beasts. So even if the sea levels had to risen now, they could not be used without restraint.

The Magic Associations had only done one experiment to date. Forbidden Curses also caused a great deal of damage to the environment. Wherever a Forbidden Curse was used would turn in to a waste land with the presence of a single element.

Besides Emperors would not take it well either. Therefore the experiment was done on the Moon. Humanity had reached the moon here as well. The moon was similar to the scientific World.

A natural satellite orbiting earth the Earth and lacking an atmosphere. Because of this lack of atmosphere elements were not present on the moon as they dissipated in to the vaccum of space in the lack of a atmosphere.

So right now Moon was the testing ground for a few spells they couldn't do on earth. But it wasn't all that practical either, the cost was insane for just a better experiment lab.

As for other planets Humanity didn't seem to have the technological capital to reach them, even with just a satellite. So far they knew that there was no life on the four discovered planets and their moons. Yeah only four discovered planets, Cao Guang also wondered if there weren't any more or were the observational capabilities crap.

Right now he didn't have the clearance to know this sort of knowledge. Even the fact that forbidden level layering spells were tested on the moon came from Feng Zhuolong's mouth.
