The metal of the seat was cold beneath me. The corner seat was furthest from the radiator and always the most unpopular in the class.
I could barely see the face of the girl to my left beneath the layers of scarves and hoods.
Thinking back to my earlier interaction with Bella I smiled. I hadn't expected her to be so vulnerable to my charm.
Ever since I started cultivating the Great Devil Scripture my appearance had been constantly improving.
Though my classmates knew nothing of my secrets the intangible temperament of a Great Devil had seeped into my bones and I naturally exuded a bewitching charm.
I held zero interest in the immature minds and bodies of a bunch of teenagers and my lust and other such impulses were suppressed and controlled by The Great Devil Scripture.
This didn't stop me from recieving countless valentine's cards and confessions over the years.
I had chosen my seat for one reason and it wasn't because I was worried my classmates would get cold.
This was Forks, everyone here was cold.
The famous classroom scene; Edward barely containing his bloodlust, Bella sniffing her jacket.
All of that was about to take place right in front of my eyes and I had the best seats in the house.
Edward was sat 3 rows ahead of me and despite my forward thinking plan a colourful bobblehat partially blocked him from my view.
Fortunately for my cinematic enjoyment the Great Devil Scripture detailed several ways to perceive the surroundings using a cultivator's spirit. After breaking through to the Foundation-Establishment realm I could view the world more clearly with spiritual perception than my eyes and ears.
'Careful.' I reminded myself.
Edward was a century old vampire. His existence was deeply connected to the magic of this world. If I was too aggressive with my actions he was guaranteed to notice.
The magic of this world was intricate and mysterious and ultimately it favoured it's inhabitants.
I knew tens of spells and rituals. I could borrow the powers of nature as I pleased.
Yet vampires had only a single gift. Their magic gave them incredible strength but their abilities were crude and inflexible.
Regardless Edward had the protection of this world. Against him my spells would be weakened.
"Take a seat over there Bella. Last one in the class."
Just like in the movies Bella was lead to the classroom by the annoying blonde named Mike. She stood with an awkward smile at the front of class while the teacher took her hall pass.
Her scent was blown across the room by several fans whirring noisily.
This caused a big problem for a certain immortal teenager.
Edward's hand raced to cover his mouth. Even though Bella was getting closer with every step he was still somehow able to control his strength to appear human.
I silently applauded his self control.
The lesson started.
Bellla's chair creaked loudly. Every so often she would shift uncomfortably in her seat and slightly turn her head to see if Edward was still staring at her so intently. He always was.
I could tell he was doing everything he could to go against what his instincts were so desperately telling him.
Edward was on his feet the instant the bell rang. The teacher could only sigh helplessly as he stormed out of the classroom.
"There's got to be something else! Physics, Bio-Chem, anything will do!"
"I'm sorry, there's really nothing I can do."
Edward turned angrily from the desk, his teeth were gritted so tightly that you could almost hear the sound of them gnashing together.
His shoulder knocked heavily and purposefully into Bella.
"Fine then. I guess I'll have to endure it."
Initially Bella just stood there, shocked. Then shock turned to self-loathing Then to sadness and then to anger.
How could she let some weirdo push her around?
"I bet I'd make feature page if I kick his ass!" Bella said to herself, chasing after Edward with long furious footsteps.
The more she thought about it the angrier she became.
"He left." Bella whispered.
The boldening effects of adrenaline and hormones vanished with a roar of Edward's engine. Gone were the thoughts of revenge and confrontation. Now she was just a stupid girl stood outside in the rain for a boy who couldn't even bear to sit near her.
Even though I remained it the corner of the class, the spell of All-Sight transmitted the scene to me in perfect detail.
'Poor girl.' I thought to myself.
Brrring!
The bell for class rang once more.
The day had to carry on.
"Hi Bella, do you remember me? You used to come here every Saturday." The waitress smiled kindly as she set down several plates of food on the table.
Bella looked searchingly to Charlie.
"Thanks Annie." He said simply.
The kind smile never left Annie's face, "No problem. When you're done I'll bring out some berry cobbler. Your favourite Bella, Charlie still has it every Thursday."
Everyone in Forks seemed to be this way, warm and welcoming. Jacob and Billy and Jessica and Angela, all of them opened their arms to her.
Mike and Eric were different...but they were still nice.
Combing her hair behind one ear Bella smiled at the waitress, "Thanks, that'd be great."
With the help of a few spells and some carefully planted mental suggestions I was able to watch this all happen from the neighbouring table. To the other customers and Bella I was just an ordinary trucker stopping at a dinner for a bite to eat.
'Boy do I love magic!"
