Chapter 54
“It’s guarded,” Stella warned. “Three of them, if not four.”
“It won’t be guarded by the time I open it.”
He took one more look at the ten feet of empty space, then took off running. He didn’t baulk at the last moment as so many did when faced with a leap like this. He hurled himself into the air as hard as he could, keeping his eyes open as he flew towards the wall.
He hit hard, and it knocked the air from his lungs, even through his armour. He scrambled to get a hold of the wall to stop slipping and grabbed a handful of barbed wire. It halted his downward slide, but it also tore through his glove and into his palm. Ignoring the biting pain, he dragged himself onto the wall.
