Chapter 0: Prologue

In a darkened Kitchen, a large man with lowered dog like ears stared at the screen of his phone, an old phone number was pulled up and his thumb hovered over the call button. He took a deep breath before tapping the button, it rang once, twice, Ca-click.

"Hello?"

"This is Mr. Nezu, yes?" The man was a bit hesitant with his words, hoping to have called the right person.

"Yes, but who is this?"

"My name is Aztec Carter..." Aztec stood up from the table, a large black and gold wolf tail flicked as he stood.

"Oh, Hello Aztec! Is everything ok with home life?" The man sounded concerned, earning a chuckle from Aztec.

"I wouldn't be calling if things were ok..." Aztec left the small kitchen and began to walk down the hall, "Remember that favor you owe me?"

"Oh yes! What about it?"

"Well I'm hoping to cash it in."

"Oh, and how so?"

"I have..." Aztec opened a door and peeked in, a small blonde girl with wolf ears and a tail was asleep cuddled with a small yellow lion stuffed animal, Aztec looked to the small black haired girl in the corner and gave her a small wave which she gladly returned, "something I can't take care of anymore..."

"...oh?" Nezu took note of the heartbreak in the large man's voice.

Aztec shut the door and walked back down the hall, "They... aren't... human."

Aztec paused when he heard Nezu's chuckle, "Well dear friend. Neither am I."

"Yeah... right..." Aztec rubbed his face, "You'll take care of them... won't you?"

"Aztec, you're a good friend of mine. I'll protect anything you hold dear."

"Thank you, I'll send them in a couple days with their things..."

"I can't wait to meet them!"

Aztec moved the phone away from his ear, he scanned the house a smile on his face but tears in his eyes, "I hope they never come back here..."
