Peering through the little opening on the door to her father's study, Maelin was not surprised to see her father and his advisors were hunched over a map, making notes and calculating figures, she was thankful he never stationed guards at his door at a discussion as important as it is now. Her mother, Queen Flae was sitting in a carefully sculpted mahogany chair behind her father, staring out the window, her eyes fixated on the Castle gardens and the peaceful ponds which surrounded the Castle.
Maelin stood in the doorway with her breath suspended in her chest, listening to the hearty murmuring conversation in the room.
"..this is what I was afraid of," her father said in a low voice, his eyes focused on the map.
"But, the Kingdom is still intact. These are the best troops we have," His advisor, muscular man with a finely trimmed beard, answered.
"And yet, we are losing this war," King Vaston responded.
°What war?° Maelin had wanted to voice out.
