Chapter 6: Fierce battle

The crew looked on as the underground parking space got filled with Cranonians. Ryan could feel the guys' morale starting to drop. They have defeated ten before but this amount was too much. He knew that something needed to be done.

"Clifford, Vaughie, the Ai! You form a defence line. Willy, Wikkie! Stand behind them and kill anything that passes them. Girls! Get into the truck and prepare to get out of here if worst comes to worst. Dawg and I will enter their ranks and destroy them from the inside."

Everyone was still in a daze but Ryan rushed into the horde with his sword held firmly. Dawg didn't wait for another invitation and took off towards the horde. Clifford, Vaughie and the Ai made a defence line with Wikkie and Willy supporting them.

As soon as they got in formation, the Cranonians struck. Thanks to Ryan and Dawg, the impact wasn't too bad and they were able to hold them down. The girls were in the truck and looking at the most gruesome scene that they have ever seen.

Clifford and the Ai hacked everything in sight and still managed to keep a good distance from each other. Vaughie had some trouble with using both a sword and an axe, so he changed to only using the sword since he didn't want to tire himself with the axe.

Although Clifford and the others managed to keep the defence line, quite a few got through. Luckily, Willy and Wikkie made quick work of them. Dawg kept kicking and stabbing everything but he didn't do much damage. Thankfully, he managed to keep them at bay.

Ryan on the other hand fought like he had nothing to lose. He slashed at the throat of the cranonian in front of him before using it's body as a launch pad to jump in the air and then he came down spinning.

Ryan managed to take down two of them and at the same time injured five. He was like a death god that has descended on earth. He kept on spinning, slashing and occasionally, stabbing. He felt slightly dizzy but kept on spinning.

Ryan was about to do a tactical retreat to stabilize himself when a staff came towards his head. He just barely managed to duck but with his adrenaline rushing, he slashed at the figure of the one holding the staff.

The figure jumped back and Ryan got a good look at it. It was the leader of the bunch. He also noticed that the Cranonians were distancing themselves from where he and the leader was. Ryan looked the leader in the eyes hoping for a staring contest.

He wanted the leader to realise he wasn't afraid and he wanted that chance to regain some energy. Unfortunately, the leader wasn't going to allow him such a luxury and attacked. Ryan readied his sword and focused on the leader.

He had some formal sword training before and knew he shouldn't focus on the feet or hands of his opponent. Ryan placed the sword next to his shoulder and the staff bashed into it. He took a few steps back before stabilizing himself.

Ryan positioned the sword in front of his chest before the staff bashed into it again. He took another few steps back before placing the sword above his head. The staff came from above and the impact caused his knees to bend.

A foot kicked him into the stomach and he rolled on the floor before jumping back to his feet. Ryan focused on only one place. He looked deep into the eyes of the cranonian leader. The body can lie but the eyes can't. That's how Ryan could predict it's movement.

The leader kept swinging the staff at Ryan and Ryan kept on predicting and blocking the staff but he could feel his arms starting to lose strength. Ryan's breathing was all over the place and his face dripping with sweat and cranonian blood.

"Time to finish off the first rat," the cranonian leader said before looking straight into the eyes of Ryan. Ryan couldn't sense where the leader was going to aim at so there was only one other way to finish the fight. Mutual destruction.

Ryan looked even deeper into the eyes and brandished the sword. "You're are forgetting one thing, you cranonian scum," Ryan said which caused the leader's eyes to turn red. It looked at Ryan's head before swinging it's staff.

"I haven't attacked yet," Ryan finished his sentence as he ducked beneath the swinging staff and slashed at the legs of the cranonian leader. The leader fell to his knees and Ryan held the sword high before saying a cliché catchphrase.

"Off with your head," he said and brought the sword down on the leader. Unfortunately, the leader still had some strength left and blocked the sword with the staff. The sword made a small cut on the staff but that was all.

Purple mist began oozing out of the staff. Ryan distanced himself and checked on the others. Dawg has joined the defence line and they are barely managing to hold back the Cranonians but luckily they were far fewer than a few minutes ago.

He looked back at the leader and he could hear it chanting something in it's own language. The purple mist took the form of a circle before floating to the ground. The circle got bigger and bigger before the inside of the circle changed.

Ryan could see another world that's full of pollution and is decaying at a rapid speed. He took his eyes off the circle and looked back at the leader. The leader started trembling and Ryan thought it was a backlash but then it burst out laughing.

"Witness the power of the potential that you took for granted. Everyone is born with limitless potential and now I will use that potential to summon a beast from my own world. Come Forth! Catastrophe!!"

A huge figure jumped out of the circle. The moment Ryan saw it, he knew the type of creature it was. A lion. It was purple with oily spots on it's fur. The mane was red with weird symbols that attracted Ryan's eyes.

The lion looked at Ryan before opening it's mouth. An ear deafening roar shot out of it's throat.
