Chapter 5: Off track

Personalities was taken into account when it came to deciding where everyone was seated. Ryan and Wikkie was first in the truck so they got to sit at the far back with the food and stuff. Since the two of them were practically useless when it came to girls, they were seated next to them.

Caylin was next to Ryan and Cassidy next to Wikkie. Clifford and Vaughie was next since they came close to Ryan and Wikkie's level when it comes to girls. Clifford next to Caylin and Vaughie next to Cassidy. Last but not least was The Ai and Dawg.

Since Dawg was the coolest, he got placed at the far end with his two bags of money and clothes. The truck started moving again. The conversation was a bit awkward at first but it wasn't bad. Clifford asked Caylin some questions but she was quiet so he moved to Cassidy.

'She is probably worried about her little sister,' Ryan thought since he could feel her body shaking against his. It wasn't to the point that you could clearly feel her shaking but his body was kind of sensitive to sudden movements.

This sensitivity was caused by the fear of small animals since his house was near the woods. Since Ryan didn't have any experience in talking to girls, let alone comforting them, he decided to mind his own business and took out his phone.

It was still quite early with the time being a few minutes past eleven in the morning. He took a look at the time it will take them to get to Cape Town Stadium and it wasn't even two hours away. That was without traffic of course.

Ryan opened the Candy Crush Soda app on his phone and began playing the game. He easily defeated a few levels before a boss level appeared. He played with utmost skill and kept on crushing candies in hopes of reaching the required points but then he ran out of moves.

Luckily, he still had four more lives to go but he blew through three of them in a matter of minutes. Ryan was really nervous as he started with his last life. He started again with his skilful crushing but by the time he had only a few moves left, he was already losing.

Ryan decided to just make a few random moves when a finger entered his sight and pointed at a certain place. He looked at the owner of the finger and saw it was Caylin. She was pointing at a place and when Ryan saw what it was, he found new hope.

He created a mega candy and managed to beat the boss level. Ryan moved a little closer to Caylin before moving on to the next level. With the help of Caylin he managed to get through five more levels before losing his last life.

Ryan closed the app before he felt a plan coming together in his head. Maybe getting a girlfriend won't be that hard. That thought just entered his head when the truck came to a sudden stop. Inertia caused Ryan's head to bash against the glass of the truck.

Caylin came crashing into his body. It would've been an enjoyable moment for him but even Clifford had all his body weight on Ryan. Everyone stabilized and Ryan looked through the small window between the back and front of the truck.

"Willy? What the hell?!" Ryan screamed at Willy before his eyes fell in the scene in front of him. Cars were scattered everywhere. Bodies were everywhere you look and not all of them were whole. The bodies were mostly bits and pieces of what they used to be.

This was the first time he actually felt like puking. Then he looked at the figures standing amongst the bodies. A huge amount of Cranonians were staring at the truck. It felt like time stopped for a while before the Cranonians began rushing towards the truck.

Willy stepped on the pedal and the truck shot forward. He turned left and went off the highway. Ryan looked at a nearby sign and saw the words Ikwezi Park. He had no idea where they were or where Willy was heading but he knew they had to hide.

A horde of Cranonians were crazily running behind the truck. The truck zoomed forward before Willy took a sharp right. Ryan could feel his head bashing into the window for the fifth time today. Everyone is full of tension as they try to stabilize themselves.

The noises caused by the crazed horde wasn't getting any noisier but it wasn't getting quieter either. Ryan looked at the front of the truck and there he saw a huge building and he saw a sign saying 'Underground Parking'.

Willy probably saw it too because he turned left and entered the parking space before turning the truck off. Everyone got out of the truck after that bumpy ride. Everyone got their weapons ready as they heard the noise from the Cranonians passing by.

Fortunately, none of them came into the underground parking space. Everyone gave a sigh of relief since they were definitely not ready to take on such a horde. Wikkie took a bag of food out of the truck and handed out something to everyone.

They finished eating and were ready to have a strategy meeting. They got into a circle and Ryan asked the question that was bugging everyone. "Why was there no people?" This bugged them the most. The Cranonians weren't that strong so humanity could easily beat them.

"So this is where the little rats were hiding," a hideous creature was seen coming from the entrance of the underground parking space. It was smaller than the other Cranonians but Ryan could feel that this one was smarter. He got a really bad feeling from this creature.

The creature had a staff in it's hand. "Let's start this party," it said before smashing his staff on the ground. Suddenly Cranonians started gushing into the underground parking space without end.

"This is bad," Ryan said as the creature started laughing.
