Chapter 237: Above the Clouds
Adrian walked along the streets of Mock Town, looking at this notorious pirate town, and couldn't help but frown.
On the crooked streets, unconscious figures lay in the garbage piles at the corners, surrounded by mosquitoes and flies. The houses on both sides of the street were dilapidated and seemed unlikely to withstand another storm.
From the coastline to here, Adrian had encountered no less than ten brawls or fights, with cries for help and curses filling the air, not to mention the countless sounds of weapons clashing and gunshots.
Even though Adrian knew before landing on Jaya Island that a pirate town was located here, he hadn't expected the environment in Mock Town to be so wretched.
"What a dump!"
Adrian dodged a drunken pirate with a frown. Faced with such lowly characters, he didn't even feel like taking action. Instead, he had a stronger urge to destroy the place completely.
"If I had known it was like this, I wouldn't have come to Mock Town. I originally wanted to try the cherry pie here! Luffy and Teach gave completely different reviews of its taste, which piqued my interest. But now, I have no interest left!"
Looking at the pirates living in Mock Town, Adrian silently marked them down in his mind. Moving like a ghost, he quickly disappeared from Mock Town and arrived on the other side of Jaya Island.
Here stood a solitary half-house, in front of which sat a burly young man with a chestnut-shaped head. He was sitting cross-legged with a black diving suit at his feet and the ground around him wet.
In a blur of light and shadow, Adrian stepped forward and looked at the young man. As expected, this guy should be Mont Blanc Cricket, the man in the future who helps the Straw Hat Pirates ride the Knock Up Stream to Sky Island. He was also a descendant of Mont Blanc Noland, the protagonist of the "Liar Noland" story from 400 years ago.
Mont Blanc Cricket
Mont Blanc Noland
Liar Noland
Back then, Noland was accused of lying when half of Jaya Island was pushed up into the sky by the Knock Up Stream, and he bore the burden of infamy for centuries. Noland once speculated that Jaya Island had sunk into the sea, a belief that influenced his descendants. Cricket often dived to explore, trying to find the submerged Golden City.
Adrian had come here to see if he could trigger a mission and possibly get something good from this descendant of a legendary figure.
"Who are you?" Cricket looked up at Adrian, sizing him up. "You don't look like a pirate. Whoever you are, leave here quickly!"
Adrian squinted and smiled, "Sorry, but do you know the way to Sky Island?"
Cricket coldly replied, "Don't joke, stranger. There is no such thing as Sky Island. It's just a legend!"
"A legend?" Adrian looked at the unique 'half-house' behind Cricket. In fact, even the descendants of the Mont Blanc family didn't know that this 'half-house' was part of Jaya Island that was split by the Knock Up Stream, with its staircase still relatively intact on Sky Island.
"Sky Island is not just a legend."
"Stop joking!" Cricket became agitated, "What the hell are you talking about?"
"Do you want to see it? The legendary Sky Island."
Adrian extended his finger, and a ghost ghost emerged from his fingertip. This distinctive ability made Cricket instantly recognize Adrian's identity!
"Y-You're White Ghost?!"
Cricket's lips trembled as he stammered out Adrian's nickname.
"Yes, Mr. Mont Blanc Cricket, descendant of Mont Blanc Noland."
"Yes, yes I am." Like grabbing a lifeline, Cricket nodded his head. Although he didn't know why this legendary pirate was so amicable, he didn't want to miss the possible opportunity.
"White Ghost, are you really not lying to me?"
"I've heard Noland's story, but I know more than ordinary people." Adrian smiled. "Noland wasn't lying; the Golden City does exist. It's just in the sky."
Hearing this, Cricket trembled violently. For the first time, someone mentioned his ancestor without mockery!
"Can... can I go? Can I go with you to Sky Island?"
A mission prompt appeared.
[You have triggered the mission 'Golden City'!]
[Mission Description: 400 years ago, Mont Blanc Noland never denied the existence of the Golden City even unto his death, leading to his execution and centuries of infamy. Mont Blanc Cricket is now pleading for your help, hoping you can take him to see the legendary Golden City and clear his ancestor's name.]
[Mission Requirement: Take Cricket to Sky Island]
[Mission Reward: 2 million experience points, unknown mysterious reward]
Unknown mysterious reward? Sounds promising!
Adrian happily accepted the mission. The next moment, he used the Dream Ghost: Sleep Spell to put Mont Blanc Cricket into a deep sleep, then had Rumi take him into the castle.
Adrian then soared into the sky at great speed. With his ghostly form, he quickly reached a height of several thousand meters.
Even for him, it was his first time flying so high. Below, Mock Town and Jaya Island became tiny dots.
Soon, Adrian broke through to the 7,000-meter-high White Sea, a vast sea of pure white clouds. The sunlight shone unobstructed on the White Sea, reflecting dazzling golden light.
Sea Clouds
After a brief look at the White Sea, Adrian disappeared again, flying towards the White-White Sea, where Sky Island truly existed.
However, when Adrian reached 10,000 meters, what appeared before him was not pure white but a vibrant gold-green!
