Vengeance

Walter was clearly hesitating; he could already imagine Walter turning around and pointing his blade at his neck.

Walter's twin sister, Kana, was the leader of the White knights' order and she was nicknamed the beauty of justice. With beautiful blond hair and blue eyes, she was like a poster girl for recruitment. Many men and women joined the knight order because they were inspired by her.

The white knights' order also acted as internal affairs and as royal police. They're at war with the distribution of drugs and human slave trafficking.

Naturally, they were against Demon Lord Rowan's dangerous cult movement. They had ambushed Rowan here who was escaping into the great Juju forest upon being discovered in the capital.

"Yes. You're strong enough. Stronger than anybody I know. You're the only one who could do this." Kana's voice resounded in Walter's head.

Walter was the only person that the Demon Lord had trust in.

"It's okay…"

Kana smiled like the sun.

It was like she was looking at the most beautiful person in the world and was pouring out all the love in her heart. She did this to show Walter that it was fine and that she was happy.

However, to Walter, seeing the lovely smile of hers, his heart broke into a million pieces and he swept it all away into a treasure chest and let it sink in the dark depths of his soul.

He lifted his blade to decapitate her so that her suffering would be short.

Tears streamed out of her eyes as she watched her brother raise his sword and bring it down.

Her head was parted by the blade and blood spewed out like rocket thrusters.

She closed her eyes.

A shadow came over Walter's face as he gazed downward.

Rowan came over him feeling relieved. He felt sorry for Walter, but he was selfishly glad that he could keep his best friend.

Kana's belief in justice is most ideal. It could be said that it was so pristine that it was impossible to achieve.

No one can stand up to her if their sense of justice was any weaker. Rowan was the only one who could stand on the same level as her without any guilt or waver.

This proved that Walter was the only person that he could trust. Even he had doubts about Walter before this.

The friend that he knew wouldn't ever kill his sister unless he truly believed that the sacrifice had to be made for the greater good of everyone, including their enemies.

Walter couldn't possibly do something that he would seriously regret and wasn't sure of. All his decisions were made of clarity and conviction, that's just the kind of man he was.

Rowan placed his hand on Walter's shoulder and felt a shudder.

"Walter… are you…"

Walter turned around with a gloomy face. He then smiled and spoke.

"I believe in our justice."

***

'It was a lie!' Rowan cursed but couldn't speak.

"You look confused. You must be wondering how I disabled all your magic despite the difference in our levels and your class and racial resistances."

Walter was a disabler class battle mage. A truly rare class that focuses on disabling magic casters and one half of his skill tree was similar to a warrior.

Once every few centuries, a disabler would be born. Walter wasn't strong against other battle types like tanks, warriors, rogues, etc. but he was the bane of magic users. He would disable their magic, move in and cut them down.

However, he couldn't disable every spell of Rowan's. The spell for it just didn't exist for his class. Even if it did, how would he bypass a level difference of 10 and Rowan's magic resistance as a Demon Lord?

"After my sister died, I vowed to end you. Then the Gods responded to my wishes. They gave me a power called the System."

'System?' Rowan thought.

For someone who didn't play games and studied all day in his past life, he didn't know what system it was because a system is a very broad term.

"For this power to work on someone as powerful as you, I had to offer it, my soul, after I die. So, I made a deal and cast [Silence] on you."

The spell silence can last 1 minute and would disable many spells and skills but by sacrificing half of his life span, the spell can ignore any resistances and immunity, thereby affecting all of Rowan's spells. Even a god would be rendered powerless.

The duration of the current spell has been extended to 2 minutes.

"God, how was I such a fool?"

Walter looked like he pitied himself.

'Traitor!' Rowan cursed.

Walter lifted his sword 45 degrees over his head.

"With this, please forgive me."

'Scum! Liar!'

Rowan had ascended to demi-god level, so he was a half physical and half spiritual being. If he was a God, he would be a complete spiritual being and so the paralysis poison wouldn't have worked on him.

Of course, Walter was using the God Slaying Blade that was given to him by the Church of Light. They had kept it after killing the first Demon Lord millions of years ago.

It was a God-Tier weapon and all God-tier weapons at least have the property to deal soul damage.

"Farewell, old friend."

'I'll kill you! I'll kill all of you in my next life!'

All the people in the room grinned at him maliciously. They were licking the scene with their eyeballs and savouring it.

Walter swung his sword downwards.

Rowan's vision split in half; one side was falling from the other one. Then he fell apart in two.

Rowan's spirit was also sliced in half. The human-shaped soul disintegrated into tiny balls of light. The spirit particles rose into the air and passed through the ceiling.

Walter gloomily watched as they disappeared.

Above the castle, after the spirit particles flew up higher, they disappeared into another plane that opened for them. The gate wasn't visible by the naked eye, the spirit particles simply blended into the sky and disappeared.
