TWO REQUESTS

Luo Jingyi sensed her muscles tightened with her head drawing back stiffly. But she nudged herself to remind of the situation she was in. She needed him. So whether she liked it or not, she has to accept his proposal. If the only way to avoid meeting the other guy was selling herself to the devil, she would do it.

"I am sorry. I am—"

"Actually, you don't have to feel pressured. It's not like we are doing this for love. I also have personal reasons." Yun Jinghan assured her. If he had to lie just to make her agree, he would do it. He just prayed silently this wouldn't pose a problem between them in the future. In fact, he wasn't really certain about what he feels about her. But he's really drawn to her as though there's a magnetic force pulling him to her. There's also that urge to protect her no matter what. Which he found mind-boggling because he never ever felt this way before.

'Why don't you let me finish first? But since you put it that way, then there's no need to say it then.'

She agreed to be his girlfriend with the thought, she had no other choice. "Okay." 

The man gave out a lop-sided grin. 

She proposed, "Since we are both doing this for a purpose, why don't we draw up a contract?"

The upward curve on his face vanished instantly upon hearing those words. He rejected immediately.

"Why?"Luo Jingyi was taken aback.

"We should never leave a piece of evidence that will create trouble in the future. So verbal agreement between us would suffice."

She eyed him skeptically as though trying to find fault in his words. She hesitated but in the end, she assented. "Okay. But I have two requests."

The man gestured her to continue.

"One, don't force me to do anything I don't want. Two, don't meddle with my affairs. Are we clear on this?"

"Sure sweetie." Yun Jinghan smiled sweetly.

"And no endearments. It's cringy."

"I don't think that's possible. It's for appearance's sake so you should get used to it."

"Fine." Albeit resistant, she conceded before asking him, "Do you have time tomorrow evening?"

"For you sweetie, I have all the time in the world."

Luo Jingyi shuddered inwardly.

"Well, Aunt Alice invited us for dinner. It's at 7."

"Let's go then."

"Where to?"

"I'll take you somewhere." He sauntered to the door, opened it and waited for her to follow.

Although she was wondering where he wanted to go, Luo Jingyi removed her hospital coat, grabbed her shoulder bag and went out.

In contrast earlier, this time they were walking side by side. Even their steps were in sync. They walked past the nurses station and found Dr. Lin and two interns.

"I have some errands to run. If there's something, call me." Luo Jingyi instructed Dr. Lin. The senior resident gestured 'yes'. At the same time, she asked for a quick consult.

Yun Jinghan waited for her to talk to the other doctors. When she strutted away, he came after her and matched her pace.

"Is that Dr. Luo's fiance? " Intern B expressed her surprised. She couldn't take off her eyes on the man's back because he was too perfect. She seemed to have seen him somewhere.

"No! " the violent reaction came from the head nurse which surprised them.

"Nurse Yan, what's wrong with you? " Dr. Lin asked feeling surprised at the nurse's violent reaction.

"Nothing. " Nurse Yan murmured and turned her back on them.

"But isn't this him?" The junior resident waved her phone to their faces. Intern B took it and look at the picture with keen eyes. It was a picture of Yun Jinghan during the peak of his career as an aerobatic pilot.

"It's him. That's why I thought he was familiar." She handed back the phone without reading the information. Her brother is into planes so she heard much of this man from him.

"Wow! Dr. Luo got herself a rich guy. She didn't have to work her life." Another Intern exclaimed.

'Hmph! It's just a small company. It's not that significant.' Intern B murmured in her head. If it was her, she'd prefer the top corporations in the country.

Dr. Lin hit the two in the head to stop them from gossiping.

Meanwhile, Luo Jingyi followed his lead. At the entrance, he told her, "Give me a second. I'll get the car."

But instead of waiting, she came after him.

"I am not an invalid. I can walk." Luo Jingyi worded.

The man was bemused that he couldn't help scratching his head. He led her to his car and opened the passenger's seat. Luo Jingyi noticed that it was a different vehicle from what he used last time. Nonetheless, low-key but expensive. The scent of expensive leather wafted to her nose. The man got into the driver's side and quietly started the car. He maneuvered it with ease.

Luo Jingyi turned her head to her left. She found her eyes glued to his side profile.

'Okay. I admit. Dashingly handsome.'

"I am too handsome, right? You can take a look as much as you want, I wouldn't mind sweetie." came his cheeky words.

Luo Jingyi was roused from her trance.

'What are you doing Jingyi?' She pinched the bridge of her nose to stop her from embarrassing herself further.

"Put on your seatbelts. Unless you want me to?"

Noticing the mirth in his eyes when he asked her, Luo Jingyi quietly secured her seatbelt.

"Oh, you don't want to."

Jingyi ignored his teasing and leaned on her seat. She focused her eyes outside and studied the streetscape with interest. There were towering residential buildings and high-end hotels, upscale businesses and even buses with large signs on them. If it wouldn't be for the trees planted in the sidewalk, there'll be no fresh air to breathe.

Eight years and she still hasn't gotten used of how the modern world appears. But if given a choice to choose, she'd prefer this world. At present, women are given much freedom to decide for themselves.

"What are you thinking?" Yun Jinghan started a conversation to break the quietness inside the car. Plus, her constant sighing since she got inside drifted to his ears.

"None of your business."

"Of course it's my business. I am your boyfriend after all. Tomorrow, I'll be your fiancé."

Luo Jingyi pursed her lips to stop her from saying something she would regret.

"How do you know Madam Lacroix?" He asked in curiosity. He had a suspicion that his people couldn't find anything about her because Antoine Lacroix's had it erased. Albeit, his company never had a collaboration the French family giant, he was aware of how extensive their business network was in Europe. In addition to that, there's the military that back them up.

"She saved me from hell."
