Augustus stood inside the base of Vegapunk's Island about a day after he had issued his command to cease all operations with Nukes.
He was standing there with Vegapunk, looking at the GPS that showed two Marine fleets heading towards his Island and Alabasta. When he saw the number of ships that were coming for each kingdom, Augustus quickly understood that this was a Buster Call.
"Your Majesty, how are we going to deal with this?" Vegapunk asked, a little worried, but Augustus wasn't too bothered by this Buster Call.
He had Godfrey, Doctor Strange, Aizen, Artorias, and Tony.
Even if he went to war with Marineford, he was confident in his ability to win.
Augustus even had the thought that maybe Aizen and Godfrey could go against the Marines and still come out as the victors.
As for The World Government, they were a little more complicated.
There is Im, the Five Elders, and the Holy Knights' commander, also recognized as the father of Shanks, Saint Garling Figarland.
That was six Emperor-level powers, with Im being the only level 9 along with the Ancient Weapon in hand.
This made the World Government much more dangerous, but Augustus had already assumed that unless Im is directly in danger of being exposed, the Five Elders and Saint Garling will not act or leave the Red Line.
Augustus had considered all this and realized that the quickest way to solve the World Government was Nukes, but now his mind was changed.
"Vegapunk, it's time to decommission the Nukes," Augustus said with a sigh and looked at Vegapunk, who looked quite sad.
"Alright," Vegapunk nodded and led Augustus to the room where the Nuclear Bombs were being stored.
As the door swished open, Augustus's Observation Haki for some reason flared up.
He quickly activated the Haki and observed inside the room for intruders but noticed no one, yet he was still on edge. That was until he counted how many Nukes were stored, which totaled up to 9.
As Vegapunk was about to step through the door that had opened, he stopped and looked confused at Augustus.
"Is something wrong?" he asked.
"There is a Nuke missing," Augustus muttered, causing Vegapunk's eyes to widen. His tongue, which was hanging out of his mouth, rolled back into his mouth as he heavily gulped.
"A missing Nuke!" Vegapunk exclaimed as the top of his head popped off his body with a spring attached to it.
"Did you let anyone enter this room?" Augustus asked.
Vegapunk's mind moved, and within a split second, a face appeared in his mind.
"Yes, yesterday a man named Aizen," Vegapunk said.
Augustus stood there at a loss as he realized that he had failed to update Aizen that the operation was being aborted.
He had only told the parties directly involved, that being Tony and Vegapunk.
"Wait, why would he steal a Nuke?" Augustus asked Vegapunk.
But in his mind, he asked the system whether Aizen was loyal to him or not.
[The Summons are absolutely loyal] the system stated.
"Your Majesty, did Aizen know about the operation being canceled?"
"No, he didn't," Augustus said.
"Goodness, this is my fault," Vegapunk said as he clasped his forehead.
"What do you mean?" Augustus asked.
"After you had issued the termination, I was in here conflicted. We had made these for destruction, but I also didn't want to see destruction. I was confused, and I said something which Aizen must have heard."
Aizen can't betray me; Vegapunk is not a summon, so Aizen must have assumed Vegapunk was planning on betraying me.
Would Aizen be skilled enough to launch this Nuke right under Vegapunk's nose?
"Wait!" Augustus suddenly remembered something. His Conqueror's Haki flared up for no reason, warning about danger, and a slight shockwave had swept past Vegapunk's Island.
"No way!" Augustus muttered under his breath.
"What?" Vegapunk asked, feeling increasingly uneasy.
Augustus swished open a portal in the middle of the sea where the waves were tumbling ferociously.
The heat was immense, almost boiling the ocean water under the portal.
In the distance, the Red Line stood.
Except an extremely large dust cloud in the air that was slowly dissipating on the Red Line.
Augustus felt his skin prickle all of a sudden, so he quickly closed the portal.
