DISCLAIMER : THIS IS A FANFICTION. So obviously I don't own any of the characters that appear in the novel. Honestly do I even own the 'OCs' that are in here? The great pirates era. It was a time when pirates were anywhere and everywhere. Two boys from a corner of the East blue are about to set out and turn the world upside down.

Prologue-2

Waking up the next morning, Thomas and Gerald finished their beakfast and their chores and went to the forest to get some wood to make their ship.

Seeing the abundant greenery around them evoked a feeling to just cut everything down. Smiling sinisterly, both of them reached out and took a big saw from behind them.

"You start over there Jerry, I'll cut here."

"Alright Tom-san."

**********

Back at the foster home, Mammy two-shoes was contemplating the future of her two boys who were hell bent on becoming pirates of all things.

As a former marine, she was obviously fuming when she overheard them talking about it as they did not dare say it in front of her and now they were even building a ship.

Maybe she could've just beaten them and forced them to stay or even force them to become marines instead. This may have worked on Gerald who was still rather young but Thomas would probably act compliant and just do whatever he wanted as soon as she turned her back.

Flaring her haki she sensed the two boys doing ridiculous things while trying to build their ship. Taking stuff out of nowhere was something they both had in common it seems. This proved her conjecture right, that maybe the devil fruits were rather similar in nature to each other.

The sea is mysterious in many ways and two devil fruits having similar powers may be unlikely but something she would not rule out. Her thoughts slowly started drifting and she started thinking back on her life.

**********

Her parents were traders who made their business largely by trading between different islands. It was dangerous but it earned them a lot of money. But the risks soon caught up to them as they were attacked by pirates and her father lost his life and her mother or what was left of her, took her life not many days after reaching home, leaving the little girl an orphan.

Swearing vengeance, she joined the local marines and quickly rose through the ranks as she had been gifted physically. Her strength only grew as she consumed a devil fruit and she soon found the pirates who were responsible for her parents' death.

Too weak.

That's what she thought as she destroyed their ship after ending every life on board and avenging her parents.

She decided to stay in the marines to fight the piracy and try to make sure that not many end up like her.

Her exploits reached a point that she was invited to Marineford in the Grand line. Accepting the invite, she went to the Grand line and made her name known for taking down powerful crews.

But as she rose through the ranks, she realized that the marines were not what she imagined. They too had their own fair share of crimes. Not wanting to stay but also not wanting to fight them because she had made quite a few friends in her stay, she left.

Setting sail in the New world by herself without a clue of her next destination was a pretty stupid idea as she could not navigate around storms with her rudimentary skills. Though she came out unscathed from them, the same could not be said about her vessel.

As luck would have it, she came across an island. As soon as she saw the island she ditched her vessel and used geppo to reach ashore.

Thinking she should have planned more instead of being so hot headed before she set out, she flared her haki to get a sense of the life forms on the island, if there were any.

As she did so, she found one coming towards her. Looking at the speed, she estimated that the being is not very strong. Going into a battle stance to make sure she isn't caught off guard, she waited for a few moments when a boy appeared before her.

Seeing that it was him who was approaching her, she wanted to figure out how he knew she had arrived onto the island. Unfortunately, she did not get a chance to do so as she got caught up in the boy's excitement and followed him into the island.

Keeping her guard up, she reached a town that looked somewhat 'worn out'. The people living there were pretty welcoming so she decided to stay a few days before procuring a ship.

In the coming days, she would find out that the island only hosted old people. The only young one was the child who guided her there.

The interesting fact she found out was that this was not an island she had ever heard of. The New world may be big but the marines still had found and mapped most of the islands. Her interest only grew as she found the people barring the child all were praying at an altar daily.

A cat and a mouse. Those were the figures they prayed to.

As ridiculous as it sounded, the locals believed in a legend about two gods that almost always butted heads with each other but the day they would come together the world would undergo a massive change. Their beliefs only growing when they found two weirdly shaped fruits on the altar one day.

Considering it a sign of gods, they fed one to the only young child there was and saved the other. The marine thought back to the time she met a scientist who stated that devil fruits might be created due to beliefs of people.

And if she went by the legends of what those gods can do, then the eaters of the devil fruits would be rather strong if they had even some semblance to the gods.

Well it wasn't her problem anyway, she had stayed for a few months already and wanted to set sail back into the sea.

She may have to build a raft maybe as the situation on the island was not that great. But when she asked the locals, she was surprised to find that they had a sea vessel but were unwilling to sell it, but would give it to her if she agreed to a condition of theirs.

The condition being, to take the boy, whose name she found out to be Jinx Gerald and the uneaten devil fruit when she left. She was surprised that the villagers were willing to entrust her with them as she had only known them for a few weeks.

She did not particularly care and agreed to it, deciding to drop off Gerald if she found a nice island. As she traveled, the boy grew on her with his happy personality and his quirky abilities. She decided to just go to a corner of some blue and live her life out.

But the former marine that she was, she could not see pirates attack innocent civilians. It was when she picked up a blue haired boy who had lost his parents that she thought she had found her calling and she kept picking up orphans she found along the way.

When she finally reached a satisfiable island in East blue, she built herself and the kids she brought with herself a home. The locals were wary at first but that soon disappeared as she decimated the local criminals and some unfortunate pirates loitering around.

She thought all was well until she found the kid she picked up first, Thomas, was thinking of being a pirate as he found life on the seas a lot better.

He soon roped in Gerald, who wanted her to give the devil fruit they brought with them to Thomas. She knew it was a bad idea to give power to someone wanting to become a pirate but Gerald somehow always found a way to steal it.

Though she always took it back, it seemed he grew smarter and made a fake this time. It was too late when she saw the rotting fruit at the dining table.

**********

Is it fate? Was the question she had, as both the kids' nicknames were the same as the deities. Thinking of her thoughts as rubbish, she decided to go take a look at what the two were doing.

Reaching there, her eyes twitched as she saw the progress the two made, which would put famous shipwrights to shame. It seemed they were inside the hull as she could hear hammering coming from there. She called out to them which made Thomas scream.

"YEOWCH!"

As she thought of going in to take a look, she saw a nail rising above the hull, which was soon followed by Thomas. Seeing the nail sticking out of his head, she started panicking.

Jerry soon showed his face to take a look and turned to Thomas and pulled out the nail which caused the bleeding to grow but it seemed to stop completely as Gerald stuck a couple of bandages on the wound.

Deciding to ignore the strange interaction, she ordered them to come down and asked them what they were doing building a ship. Thomas seemed to be thinking up a clever lie when Gerald said with a smile,

"We're building a pirate ship!"

As Thomas started scolding his first mate, Mammy thought of what she should do. Sending them to be marines was no go as she knew they weren't the protectors of justice as everyone thought of them.

But sending them out to be pirates was also something she did not want to do as she did not want to see them become evil and irredeemable.

As she finished thinking, she started walking towards the incomplete ship, something both Tom and Jerry noticed and just looked on as they did not have the guts to stop her. When she got close she lifted her foot and brought it down.

*BOOM*

Seeing their ship destroyed by a simple kick, Tom and Jerry hugged each other out of fear and started chattering their teeth. They soon heard Mammy talk from the dust cloud.

"Your training starts tomorrow, you won't be leaving the island till I say you are ready. Am I clear?"

"....."

Seeing them not talk, she got close to them in an instant with a scary face, which only intensified their fear.

"Am.I.Clear?"

Seeing them nodding their heads like chickens, she left to the foster home. Well, she would let them be pirates but they would be a sort of 'nice' pirates.
