One Piece: Reincarnated with a system

The typical MC dies and gets reincarnated with a system in one piece world. I do not own One Piece or any other characters from any series which can be referenced. Things to expect from the fan fiction: 1. MC will be a pirate. Will have emotions, and morals and will act like a true leader to the crew (sorry no Reverend Insanity-like protagonist). Also, no harem and romance will not be very important. Will not join straw hats but maintain a good relationship with them. The reason will be explained in the story. 2. This will be an AU, but nothing major, just some minor age and small stuff might be changed for my convenience. Few characters will be based on mythology and (probably) any other series 3. MC will have a gamer-like system but there will be no stats, inventory, or player level-up but there will be skill leveling, missions, and shop. More about the system will be disclosed throughout the story. The system will activate after a certain time, and the user will not get the system right from the start. It will probably activate in the third arc or before. 4. No devil fruit for MC. It will be pure haki, martial arts, weapon mastery, etc. 5. Speaking of weapon mastery, MC's fighting style will include a sword on one of the hands, a gun on the other, and also kicks, so a versatile style I would say. 6. Guns/Marksmanship will also be explored here, also other martial arts. 7. English is not my mother tongue so please bear with it. However, I will use some free online grammar correction tools. 8. Constructive criticism is always welcomed. Might also take meme references, jokes, etc from other sources. However, if you don't like it, don't read it. Don't bother causing havoc in comment section. There will also be plotholes, which I might not solve since it involves rewriting (paragraph comments get deleted of the entire chapter). So, if you are very particular about plotholes, I think this is not for you. 9. Updates will be irregular because I have a job. I am writing this as a hobby. Therefore even with power stones, I cannot guarantee more updates, but any power stones will still be appreciated. 10. Lastly I might go with some theories because the canon story is not complete, but if later canon proves the theory wrong, then it can't be helped. Now please enjoy it.

The first fight (updated)

A.N:

"" is for dialogue

'' is for thoughts

CAPITAL LETTERS mean shouting

But the above can mean other things depending on context like if in the line 'So this is the navy's so called "justice" ', it doesn't mean someone is saying the word justice out loud. You guys are smart and I leave it to you to understand the contexts.

Also, this chapter is updated since I failed to mention some details of the fight scene properly, causing lots of confusion.

Now enjoy.

<Timeskip, Jai is 5 years and 3 months old today>

We had made very good progress in the last one and half years.

Our physique improved a lot. I can safely say we are stronger than average adults. Thor made godly progress for the first 6 months.

After that, his progress slowed down. Slowed down compared to his previous godly progress. Like it takes a small time to reach from level 1 to 2 in any game, but the same speed cannot be achieved from level 99 to 100.

He is still progressing very fast. A little bit slower than me, but fast.

Hodur on the other hand awakened his observation haki. SSS grade talent along with blindness worked wonders. It still works sometimes. He is still far from mastery with the basic observation haki, but I know he will get there.

I got a katana from Wolf and borrowed his smallest flintlock pistol with rubber bullets. The rubber I used has a certain amount of heat resistance, so it could be used again and again, as long as it is not overheated for a certain amount of time. The flintlock's power is low too, thanks for Wolf's modification. It is not risky and I can actually use it to spar with Thor. The bullets still hurt a lot but does not cause injury.

We sparred using wooden sword, and a wooden hollow sledgehammer. Both of which Wolf made.

I started developing my fighting style with it. Katana in my right hand, flintlock in my left, and kicks.

I also did not forget to train each of them individually. In case, I run out of ammo and am unable to reload, the gun malfunctions, get my sword disarmed, or run out of stamina, I can still fight and not be handicapped like Zoro.

I have made significant progress with my mixed fighting style and also the individual ones.

If I am at 100% in my own mixed style, then I will be at 95% in pure swordsmanship, 90% in pure kicks and unarmed fighting, and 90% in pure marksmanship, that is assuming I have the ammo.

Ammo is not the main issue. The system has a solution for that, provided I can complete a certain mission. But it has to wait. I do not plan to enter the grand line before unlocking the system.

I also tried rokushiki. Kicking the ground more than 10 times in an instant for soru, kicking the air strong enough for geppo. Those are the only two techniques, that I know how to perform, theoretically.

In geppo, I could not walk in the air, but it slowed down my fall by a small margin. I tried using soru with 2 kicks in an instant before finally launching myself with the last kick, and it speed me up a bit. But both of the techniques definitely put huge pressure on my legs. 2 kicks in an instant is my current limit anyway.

Average marine soldiers are said to have 10 doriki, and a person with 500 doriki is considered superhuman. Rokushiki is a superhuman martial art, meaning it needs 500 doriki or above. I might be higher than 10 doriki, but nowhere close to 500.

But geppo could still be used underwater to speed me up. Even underwater geppo puts a lot of stress on my legs.

Grandmas of course made our training a bit more like fun and games rather than some military training. We are all kids after all. They didn't want to ruin our childhood but they were not lenient either.

Thor did this training so he could take revenge, Hodur was doing this simply by doing what his older brother did. He was just 2 years old when that tragedy happened, so he doesn't even remember his parents' voice. But he still knew what had happened. He loved his brother and could not bear to see him sad.

Today we are playing/training in the field. The field is far away from the city and is closer to the jungle. Dangerous animals do not come out to the field. I and Thor are sparring and running. Our goal is to spar while running. The first one to reach the finish line gets 100 points, each time you fall down you lose 10 points. The loser gives the winner a massage after the training session.

The spar was an unarmed one, but we still carried our weapons because of weight training. Practice weapons are too light for us and we need to get used to weapons' weight.

But something unexpected happened today. Before we could finish our match, we heard a howl and saw a pack of wolves running toward us. We did not expect this. The wolves were at least tiger-sized and a lot stronger than average.

I quickly counted, it was 12 wolves. Fighting out of it was impossible since we had a 4-year-old blind child who only worked in his speed, stamina, and observation haki. Seeing this I made a quick decision that can help us survive. We had no way of protecting him.

"Hodur, run now. To the orphanage"

"I will not leave anyone and run, Jai"

"CALM DOWN AND LISTEN!!! Go to the orphanage and call grandma. She is stronger than the wolves"

Hodur seemed to have calmed down.

He nodded and started running. Even without observation haki, he seemed to have memorized the entire field and the path to the orphanage by heart and keeps a track of his position mentally. It will not be difficult for him to reach the orphanage, as the orphanage is the closest to the field.

We had to buy some time and not let the wolves pass us. The field was huge and it will take Hodur more than 3 minutes to escape. The orphanage was 5 minutes away from the field.

So we had to buy a total of 8 minutes of time to survive. Once the news reaches the grandmas, they can rush here in no time.

The wolves started chasing us

I and Thor stood our ground. I pulled out my katana and the flintlock. It was filled with rubber bullets but if used smartly it can help. Thor pulled out his sledgehammer.

I calmed myself down and aimed at the alpha's eye. No matter who, the eye is always a weak spot. And if not weak, in case of some godly defence, it is still very sensitive. The bullet might not even injure the eye, but it will still cause pain.

Taking advantage of this, I waited patiently and when the alpha jumped at me, I shot the bullet right in its eye. The bullet hit its eye and the alpha winced. The alpha closed his eyes at the last moment reflexively, but it still hurt him over the eyelid. I knew this was the perfect chance, so I stabbed its second eye.

My aim was to stab its brain via the second eye, but I underestimated the alpha. Call it beastly instinct, but he somehow managed to twist his body and avoid the fatal blow.

I made the correct judgment. If I had gone for the head or throat, he would have survived without any fatal blow. But this time it lost its eye. An eye means a lot. Losing an eye means losing depth perception and thus losing your ability to judge the distance of an object in front of you.

The alpha also shrieked which gained the attention of all other wolves. Instead of chasing after the other two, the rest simply attacked me.

But Thor, my buddy came to my rescue. He hit a few wolves and made it to me. I on the other hand somehow managed to keep the jaws away from me, but some claws still managed to hit me.

I too used my combat senses and somehow avoided any fatal wounds. But if my current wounds are not treated fast, I will lose a lot of blood.

Thor and I stood back to back. The wolves surrounded both of us and the fight went on for a few slashes and smashes.

The alpha, could not take the loss and tried again, this time being very careful still attacked. I knew the wolves were smart and the same strategy will not work again, but this time I had something different in mind.

The alpha attacked and I shot once again. This time it dodged easily. And launched itself at me with it's jaws open. I knew that the alpha had lost it's depth perception with one eye, and it will take sometime to get used to it. So right now, it has wrongly judged my position.

Taking advantage of this, I aimed my sword at the alpha and I launched myself with my half-baked soru and straight up stabbed the alpha right through its mouth.

Now I am in a vulnerable position since my sword is inside the alpha's head. The rest of the wolves still attacked.

I held my sword in a position perpendicular to ground and jumped up. Given my training especially with soru and geppo, I jumped a decent height and pulled out my sword from the alpha's head.

While descending,I repositioned myself in an upside down posture and kicked the air, this time not to keep myself up, but to propel myself downwards.

Below was a wolf, and he was aiming for Thor, not realizing my descend. I took advantage of this and beheaded the wolf while landing.

Both of us again got in the same back-to-back position, covering our blindspots and defended.

It was clear that the wolves could not win against us in this formation. Wolves are known to take on stronger prey by surrounding them, but we are covering each other's blind spots.

In a head-on clash, our attacks will deal more damage to the wolves, since, we are using weapons, and we are fast. On the other hand, we won't take any damage since it is weapons that protect us. The alpha had a chance but I had taken care of it already.

Most wild animals do not prefer fighting to the death, they are practical and will run away if needed, but they also take calculated risks.

The wolves seemed to know this from our clash, so they kept attacking and dodging, in the perfect teamwork. When we attack one, another two also attack from the other direction. The wolves too engaged with us in a position where they can retreat. Their alpha was dead so they had to be more careful.

In response, we focus to dodge one and clash head-on with the other and move back to the first one for a counterattack.

This might seem long but it went for 2 minutes, and the wolves were on the losing side of the fight as they were stacking up injuries at a much faster rate than us. But the injuries were not fatal.

We too are having a much difficult time. We were already exhausted from the training, and I too used 1 soru and 2 geppo, which as of now puts a lot of stress in my body.

If it was during training I probably would have fallen down exhausted after 1 soru and 1 geppo, but now I was going on somehow. This is probably the feeling to improve during battle.

But I noticed something, 1 wolf ran towards Hodur. Hodur still has not escaped the place and he needs one more minute to escape the field.

"HODUR!!! WATCH OUT!!!" I shouted.

Thor got distracted too. But how could he not be distracted? He is just a child. He is strong but not experienced.

Coming back to my senses quickly, I focused on waving my katana around us. This forced most of the wolves to back off, but both of us still got bitten by one wolf each. This time the bite was critical and we were bleeding heavily.

Hodur on the other hand somehow managed to dodge the wolf once. Probably his observation haki worked in this life and death situation, but the situation was far from good.

Even if he was an expert in basic observation haki, he still needs the physique to actually make use of it. Like it is said, "In front of overwhelming power, all tricks are meaningless". Boa sisters, who even used ryo, lost against pre-time skip 2nd gear Luffy.

Hodur too dodged one or two attacks, but he was not able to dodge the last attack, and the wolf bit his leg.

With the heavy bleeding, our movements, and our small bodies, we lost a decent amount of blood.

If nothing is done we are going to die. I wanted to be a big shot, turn the world upside down, but now I can't even protect a child who looks up to me like a big brother. A child I wanted to take under my own wing. My mind was chaotic. All sorts of thoughts were going around in my head.

'We are going to die. There is no escape now. F**K. Is my second life wasted like this? S**T'

But could I afford to give up? No. Being an adult in mind, I felt responsible for these children. I found my motivation to fight back. It was just not my life alone at stake, but there were 2 other children as well.

'NO!!! I can't give up. Save him. Move! MOVE!!!'

As I was still struggling, the wolf's jaw descended on Hodur's head. There was literally nothing I could think of at that moment. I blanked out and shouted with pure reflex

"STOP!!!!"

Like a dam breaking, all the stress, pressure, desperation, rage, helplessness, and worry seemed to flow out of me. There was nothing going around in my mind.

The wolves dropped one by one. Seeing this I finally calmed down and realized what had happened. A smile was fixed on my face. Both of the brothers were conscious and alive. But we needed medical attention.

I felt exhausted like never before, So I started dragging myself up. I saw Thor somehow trying to walk all bloody, panting. I helped him walk by keeping his right arm wrapped around my neck. I was supporting him and we walked.

While walking, I saw another familiar sight. Two humanoid birds descended. Seeing that I finally let myself lose and with a smile on my face my eyes started to close down.

A.N: This is my first time writing a fight scene. Well not exactly a proper fight scene, since it was just for 2 mins, so there was not much to write. Even I am not sure how is it, one part of me says it is good, the other says it is shit and cringe. So do let me know your opinion about it.

Also please be specific about the criticism. For example, a chapter comment "This is shit" doesn't exactly tell me what part exactly is shit. So please mention it properly like "The plot development was bad", "Certain parts are un-understandable", etc

This helps me improve as an author. Thank you.
