(A/N: I'm gonna go with Dragon being around yonko level if not a bit stronger, like a high level yonko. E.g. Kaido or Old whitebeard. He is stronger than Old Garp but weaker than Prime Garp, Roger, and Whitebeard.)
Now that the crew knew about Luffy's family they felt that a lot of things about Luffy made sense. His monstrous strength and endurance were only average when compared to Garp and Dragon who were two of the strongest people in the world.
Robin was currently going over these new discoveries in her head and had now filled in almost everything about Kai's past as Kai only left out a few small details to not spoil the fun. She now had a full picture about what happened to Sabo when he was younger and how he became the chief of staff.
Robin had one final thing that was stumping her. 'If Dragon is Luffy's dad and Luffy and Ace have different parents, then just who is Ace's other father? Kai said that he had two monstrous dads but I can't think of anyone who could stand up to Whitebeard and Dragon.' She was thinking very hard about who Ace's father might be but wasn't able to figure it out.
Eventually Robin decided to give up on the thought as she figured she would find out soon enough. As Robin went over everything again she let out a breath of cold air.
"What a scary family, maybe they really could challenge a yonko." Robin said in a thoughtful tone.
The rest of the crew quickly nodded in agreement.
Nami blurted out what everyone in the room was thinking. "They are all monsters. It's terrifying."
Everyone agreed once more. Having both the marine's hero and the world's most dangerous criminal/Revolutionary army's leader in the same family is absolutely insane. However, Robin was shocked for another reason. The family also included Ace: the Whitebeard Pirates second division captain, Sabo: The chief of staff of the revolutionary army, and Kai: Someone who fought toe to toe with Admiral Aokiji.
Robin was starting to wonder about who else Kai knew that he just forgot to tell her. She already knew about Shanks being Kai's teacher before Garp taught him, which was also another insane connection to this family. She also recalled that Kai was friends with the princess of Alabasta and Smoker who was a marine with a bright future ahead of him.
As Robin was lost in her own thoughts again, thinking about how Kai really could possibly overthrow the government if he used all of his connections and they got lucky. Someone interrupted her thoughts.
"So, if Dragon's Luffy's Dad. Then who is his Mom?" Kai asked Garp.
Kai started thinking, if I can't learn about Dragon's bounty, then I'll at least learn about who Luffy's mom is. I will finally learn of one of the biggest mysteries in One Piece. Kai started to smile like a madman as he was so close to learning such a big secret.
"I don't know." Garp said with a straight face.
Kai felt the world around him shatter. His peace of mind about learning of Luffy's past was disturbed. Kai's smile fell into a deep frown.
"What do you mean you don't know?" Kai asked Garp with a cold tone to his voice.
"Bwahahaha! I forgot!" Garp laughed as if he had just remembered he left a $5 bill somewhere and lost it.
Kai blew a fuse when he heard this. "You fucking old man! What do you mean you forgot?! How do you forget who your own daughter-in-law is?!"
Kai jumped over to Garp and started smacking him around while Garp was laughing the whole time.
"Bwahahaha! I just forgot!" He said as he flew into a wall after one of Kai's punches.
Kai was really pissed right now, first he isn't allowed to learn Dragon's bounty and now this? How cruel the world can be. However, Kai was most pissed at the moment because Garp just forgot his daughter-in-law! Kai was Garp's grandkid, what if he forgot his granddaughter-in-law someday? Kai would kill the old man if he pulled something like this when talking about Robin.
Kai fummed. "She's your family! Are you gonna forget about your grandkids and their wives too?? You shitty old man!"
Kai continued cursing out Garp as he had already stopped hitting him after a few good smacks. Garp just looked confused at Kai as if he didn't get why he was mad.
"You think Luffy's gonna get married? Bwahahaha! What a funny joke!" Garp laughed at the concept of Luffy + literally any woman ever.
There was no chance that would ever happen, the kid would sooner marry meat than a woman! Kai felt like something snapped as he got so angry he calmed down. He just took a deep breath and sighed heavily.
"Fuck this." He said as he just walked out of the building through the hole Garp made. On his way out of the building he passed by some workers and pointed backwards towards the hole in the wall of the room everyone was in. "That's not supposed to be there." He said as he continued walking away.
The two workers Kai said this too looked at each other and had their shoulders droop in despair.
"They made the hole." One of the two said sadly.
In response the other said. "I know right, what's wrong with these people? This job sucks."
A third worker walked in and shushed them. "SHhh! Don't say that! I have a friend who works at marineford and apparently the fleet admiral has to get his room fixed 4-5 times a week. Apparently he has really bad anger issues because he is always yelling loudly right before he calls in the repair crew."
The two workers heard this and started sweating. "Aha. Maybe this job isn't so bad after all." One of them said, causing the other to nod along.
If only they knew that the person who was constantly destroying the fleet admiral's office was actually the one in the next room over.
Anyway!
Kai heard the worker's conversation after he walked away. He was still a little pissed at Garp for being such an idiot. Then again, Kai did love Garp BECAUSE he was such a lovable idiot… Well that's a different issue. Kai hearing the workers conversation brought an entirely different issue to his mind, Sengoku.
He was still really pissed at Sengoku for what he tried to do back on Enies Lobby. Kai was pissed at what he wanted to do with Robin, but he could have overlooked it because that was technically his job. What Kai was really mad about was that Sengoku was willing to call a buster call on innocent marines and civilians for no reason.
Kai was definitely not an avid supporter of the marines organization, but that wasn't extended to every individual. It's not like Kai idolized pirates and hated marines. Kai actually hated most pirates because most pirates would murder, assault and pillage innocent people while stealing from them.
Kai did love some pirates. Shanks, Luffy, Whitebeard, Law and many others. However, they were the outliers of what pirates were in the world. Just like how even though the marines were severely corrupt. Not every single marine was a bad guy. Actually, most were either good or at least semi-decent people.
As a whole, the marines were much better people than pirates, which is why Kai didn't want to crush the marines, but the world government, and by extent the shitty marines like Akianu. Kai actually wanted to end the age of piracy at the same time as he took down the corrupt government.
In an ideal world the marines and a new better government would coexist and try to rule over the people peacefully. Sort of like democracy in his old world but hopefully a lot better as democracy definitely wasn't perfect.
Anyway, Kai didn't want the marines to be slaughtered and he thought that would also be the last thing that Sengoku would want as well. However, Kai's expectations were apparently too high. He didn't know what to do, it seemed Sengoku was starting to become more and more like Akianu. For the world to have a fleet admiral like this was the worst possible thing as it meant many civilian casualties in the cross fires or battles.
It would also mean that the world government's control over the marines and the entire world would strengthen. Kai wasn't an idiot who thought that he could get to the world government while ignoring the marines. He knew that he would have to face them. He knew that many of them would die.
Obviously in an ideal world the marines either don't protect the WG or they side with the revolution and help take them down. Though, that will never happen as the brainwashing-like education of the marines was too deep rooted into everyone's brains. The ideal of absolute justice was like a plague that was constantly spreading inside the marines and infecting more and more people with this toxic mindset by the day.
This world had a very complex system of power balance as well as many different clashing morals. However the government had succeeded in ensuring many people in the marines shared one mindset and list of morals. Although the absolute justice ideal did have some good parts to it as it allowed marines to catch and kill the bad pirates, it also stopped them from thinking about what was important.
What the marines were right now was an organization that hunted pirates. Which isn't what the marines were supposed to be. They had been transformed into this by the era of piracy and the ideal of absolute justice. They were an organization who destroys evil.
What the marines were supposed to be was an organization who protects civilians. Catching pirates was supposed to just be a side mission in the end goal of protecting the people. They weren't meant to focus on destroying evil and abandoning the people. They were meant to save the people first and do what is in the best interest of the citizens and the world as a whole.
Kai was thinking about a few of the flaws of the marines and the government as well as pirates when he was interrupted by someone attacking him. Kai didn't even think about it and smacked the man who jumped at him away. A pink streak of light soared through the sky and into the building the crew was in. Kai blinked and looked up.
"Was that Coby? Hmmm, maybe I shouldn't have hit him that hard, I didn't hold back enough as I was lost in thought. Oh well, I guess his chances of surviving are much higher than living through gramps training, so he should be fine." Kai thought out loud as he just continued walking away.
Another man with blonde hair and a visor over his eyes, Helmeppo, started shaking in fear.
"Who was that? He's almost as strong as Vice-Admiral Garp!" Helmeppo said as he ran after Coby, more scared of Kai than concerned about his friend.
