First Mate Get!

'Here we are, once again... hanging on the wall.' [Another brick in the wall~] As lyrics ring in my head I look at Luffy who is ready to go use his famous persuasion skills as I lay down sideways on top of the wall.

"So... Your first mate is over there, waiting for you. Go get him." I urge him to get this fiasco over with.

"Aren't you my first mate?" Luffy tilts his head while looking at me.

"As I said... I, AIN'T, JOINING! I'm coming along the ride as a passenger, not as a member. Now, git." I kick Luffy of the wall.

"Whoa!" He lands safely for my misfortune.

I watch as Luffy and Zoro bicker and how Luffy forcefully tries to recruit Zoro. Luffy promises to get Zoro's swords back and starts running... the wrong way.

"Y-You idiot! The base is over there! That's the wrong way!" Zoro shouts at Luffy.

'Zoro knows where to go!' I marvel at the sight of him who has yet to acquire his "getting lost every time" trait since this is the first manga volume and Oda probably didn't think about it immediately.

Luffy does 180 and Rockets towards the base in front of the now amazed Zoro.

'Yea... Will I get used to that either...? Hopefully...' I muse to myself as I watch Zoro's reaction.

Then he turns to look at me and we have a stare down.

"W̶h̷a̶t̴ ̴a̸r̷e̴ ̸y̵o̵u̸ ̵l̴o̶o̸k̷i̶n̶g̴ ̵a̵t̸?̴" Zoro says something but I can't really hear him since he is like what... half way across the field and I'm not really concentrating on him, just blankly staring.

Sometimes it's nice to have a keen hearing but it sucks when it's selective to background noises that fill my ears during normal conversations. Damn noises keep me up at night too.

I've lost count of how many times I can't hear what the person next to me says with all the noise in the surroundings.

I put my hand on my ear and lean a bit forward as a gesture to tell him that I can't hear him well. No way I'm going over there when it will be surrounded by the marines later.

"I said. What are you looking at!?" Zoro shouts so that I could hear him.

"I'm looking at Dracule Mihawk, who do you think I'm looking at?" I answer but...

"Huh!?" I guess he can't hear me either if I don't raise my voice a bit.

I wave my hand as gesture to "forget about it" and continue to watch what will happen next. "Get over here if you want to talk!" He shouts to me.

'But who said I wanted to chat...' I muse as I "Nah!" shout as a reply.

I look at the base and see huge thing fall of it and *CRASH* crash down. I guess that was the statue, so Luffy must be up there right now.

"Ah, Dravde-san." Koby climbs up the wall next to me.

"'Sup, Koby." I nod at him and continue to laze around.

"I'm gonna go untie Zoro." He says and drops down onto the field.

"Sure, sure, have fun~. Did you bring a knife?" 'Since that would make things a lot easier.' I muse to myself.

"Ah... No... I'll have to do it by hand." He gets a bit depressed but still goes to untie Zoro.

'What DETERMINATION~.' I humor myself only to be [He's missing the knife.] retorted by myself.

'Ah, that he is.' I facepalm as my Undertale joke fails the moment it's born.

I watch as Koby tries to untie Zoro while Zoro tries to dissuade him until suddenly the marines come with Morgan in tow as they point their guns at the duo.

I feel my anxiety spiking as I watch Zoro and Koby from the distance as the marines prepare to fire. A faint glass breaking can be heard in the distance and I hear Morgan shout "Shoot!"

As the marine soldiers shoot their rifles as a figure flies rapidly in front of the bullets.

"That won't work!" Shouts Luffy as he bounces the bullets away with his body to the shock of the Marines.

"Hahahaha! I told you, I'm strong!" Luffy laughs without a care in the world.

"J-Just... what the hell are you!?" Zoro questions Luffy since it's not everyday you meet a man that is bulletproof.

"I'm Monkey D. Luffy. The man who'll become the Pirate King!" Luffy gives Zoro a smile and a thumbs up.

"W-What!? Become the Pirate King!? Do you understand what you're saying?" Zoro questions Luffy as he regains his sanity from the clear insanity in front of him.

"The Pirate King is the Pirate King, what else would it mean?" *Smack* I facepalm at Luffy's retort.

"Here, your sword." Luffy presents a bundle of three swords to Zoro.

"Which one is it? I couldn't tell, so I grabbed all three."

"All three are mine. I use three swords style." Zoro answers as Luffy looks a bit unconvinced but eventually doesn't care.

"You'll take them, right? But if we fight together, you'll owe me. Being killed by Marines or coming with me... Which one do you pick?"

'Look at this shameless bastard' I marvel at the audacity of this guy.

"You're the son of the devil! Fine! I'd rather be a pirate than die here!"

"YAY! I have a nakama!" Luffy starts to cheer like an idiot.

"I get it, now set me free!" Zoro shouts Luffy to stop fooling around.

*SMACK* I facepalm again at their antics while the marine soldiers start to gather their wits from the spectacle.

"Damn! This knot is so hard to untie..." "OI! Hurry up!" Luffy tries to get Zoro off without even noticing the bunch of marine soldiers who are rushing at them.

"I can't concentrate. Give me some time." 'Oh for the love of...'

"We don't have time for you to take your time!"

"Oh! I untied one side!" Luffy brags like an idiot for getting one of Zoro's arms free.

"Idiot! Hurry up and give me my swords!" Zoro rages at Luffy's idiocy.

'Maybe I should've gone there. This is just too embarrassing to watch...'

*KLANG* As the marines swing down their swords, they are intercepted by Zoro.

"Whoa, cool!" Luffy shouts as everyone looks in awe at Zoro.

"One move from any of you... and I'll kill you!" Zoro threatens them as the marines look like they are about to piss their pants.

"I promised to be a pirate. Either way, after this incident with the Marines I'll be a wanted man. But it's okay... I still have my ambition! I'm going to become the world's greatest swordsman! I no longer care if my name is clean or not. Bad guy, good guy, it no longer matters! As long as my name is known worldwide! If you do something that ends up in the way of my ambition, I will cut open your stomach with my sword!" Zoro declares his ultimatum to Luffy.

"Good! To be the world's greatest swordsman! Since you wanna be the Pirate King's crew member, if you can't even accomplish something that small, then I would be very embarrassed as well!"

I almost fall of the wall when I hear the words "something that small" out of Luffy's mouth. I should have recorded that for later with my phone if I didn't turn it off to save battery.

"Heh! Well said!" Zoro chuckles at Luffy's answer.

"What are you guys standing there for!?" Hurry up and finish those two off!" Morgan shouts at the incompetent bunch.

"Zoro, duck!" [Goose!] Luffy orders Zoro as he prepares for a kick.

"Gomu Gomu no... WHIP!!!" Zoro ducks down in time as Luffy's leg stretches and to Morgans horror sweeps the soldiers away with his kick.

[STRIKE!] I hear the sound of bowling pins falling in my head.

"What are you?" Zoro once again questions the humanity of his new captain.

"I'm a rubberman!!" Luffy declares but doesn't alleviate the confusion as the Marines panic even more.

'Very informative, as always.' I deadpan.
