Chapter 144: The Mighty

Max sat down on the roof of his castle, which was the highest point in Wano, and could oversee things. This could be the last he will see this place. But he didn't mind it as a smile adorned his face. "Death in the middle of my journey while chasing what my soul and heart wanted. Heh, I wouldn't mind it that much. But do you know what's better than dying like that? Achieving my goal."

It seemed like he was talking to himself, but suddenly Negan's body started to form as lightning gathered right next to Max. "Boss-man, there is this suspicious guy, probably a spy, he has a scar over his eye, dark hair, black eyes, and was worried about Luffy."

"Oh, you don't need to doubt that. He is a spy," Max confirmed it. "He is from the Revolutionary Army. I have been wondering for a while who taught Luffy Haki, but it seemed to be his father, Dragon."

"Dragon?" Negan frowned. "That could be troublesome," he admitted because even amongst the Yonko, there was one person who had a higher bounty than them. That was Dragon, the man with the highest bounty in the world. Now, Bounty didn't necessarily mean strength, but most times it implied so. After all, one had to be powerful and dangerous to even get a bounty to begin with. "Should we deal with the Revolutionaries before the final showdown comes? Because it would suck if we had to look behind our backs all the time."

Max shook his head, the smile on his face widening as he pulled something out. It was a beating human heart entrapped into a translucent square. "This is Luffy's heart. If Dragon even shows a sign of aggression, we will kill his son."

Negan's eyes widened. "Damn, so that's why you started this problem with the Strawhats?"

"No, not at all actually," Max admitted with a mysterious gaze in his eyes. He wasn't saying anything, because he didn't want his plane to fail. Getting up, he put an encouraging hand on Negan's shoulder and whispered something in his ear, making his best friend's eyes widen. 

"What?!" Asked Negan, "Let me do it in your place!"

Max only shook his head, his body turning into particles of light as he moved away. "Be prepared negan, because this will be the greatest war the world has ever seen. It will be a World War! Xahahahahaha~"

Negan couldn't believe what he had heard and he just stood there for ten whole minutes, contemplating what he should do next. Looking at his hand, he saw Luffy's beating heart and stared at it absentmindedly. "What the fuck does that even mean, Max?"

-Max POV-

If going by Leveling standards in an RPG game, and if the Max was Level 100 for someone to reach. Like kaido, Big Mom and the other Yonko were at level 99 and 100. What Level would I be?

I would be around Level 130 to 150. The limit of this world had long since been surpassed by me and I had reached a Level even Gol D Roger would compare to. 

But sadly, real life wasn't a game and this wasn't DBZ where I can casually kill anyone with a lower power level than me. 

Two level 100s could pose a challenge, and three would be able to kill me. That was the reality of the situation, this world won't be able to offer me the absolute power that I want, no matter how hard I try. Even if I had all the Devil Fruits in the world, in the end, five people like peak Garp would be able to kill me.

That was the limit I could achieve, one person can achieve only so much in this world power-wise. 

I have been contemplating this for a long time, and even thought about giving up and settling here, deciding to just explore the world and maybe try space pirating in the end.

NO WAY!!!

That wasn't the peak of my ambition!!

My hunger for power isn't something that this world can fill!!

I don't care about the journey and only want the destination. Adventure? What was that? I don't care about some unknown space pirates or what might be out there! 

What I care about is the kind of absolute power that rarely can't be provided here. Something where it can be world-destroying if used correctly.

In my previous life, I was a normal man, so fucking normal that it felt like I was choking to death. Even if I died, no one would say anything, neither bad nor good about me. I didn't even care about that, what I cared about was just how powerless I used to be back in the day.

Now that I was reborn here, it wasn't the best situation and I didn't have the best Devil Fruit out there initially. But this time, I wasn't complacent and instead decided to give it my all and live to my heart's content. Single-mindedly chasing after one goal, one of absolute power.

By the normal definition of a normal person, I would be seen as someone insane. But I didn't care about that either, the best people throughout the world bordered on insanity. The reality of it was, that the more "sane" and "normal" you were, the less you would achieve in life.

Everyone always said to be polite, harmless, and nice. No!! Be a monster, become competitive, and when you have done that, only then you will learn to control that monstrous side.

I flew out of Wano with a quick burst as draconic wings made out of light appeared behind me. Gravity itself seemed to push me forward.

I flew through the air at breakneck speeds, and the air seemed to crackle.

The more I thought about my ambition, the more my Conqueror's Haki churned. It became such a hassle that keeping in my Haki made me feel like a balloon that was about to pop.

BOOOOOM!!

My ambition, something that Luffy's or Roger's ambition to become a Pirate King could never compare to. Even those who wanted to rule the world couldn't compare to it.

Every single sea king or beast that was within the vicinity of my Haki died of heart attacks. My will itself stopped their hearts, my Will and Haki were evolving, to try and keep up with me and my ambition.

Soon enough, it should become something that was never seen in this world before. Well, either that or I could die. There was always a chance of that happening.

Suddenly, I sensed something from below me and the smirk that came into my face couldn't be hidden. The time has come… for me to… "Die"...

As Max flew above the water, Akainu was on a certain island in the New World and could sense Max flying through.

This had been a meeting in secret for him to tell Max something. Of course, while it was made to be seen as something that Akainu would help him with, it was a trap.

Under the water here was something that only those in the highest positions in the World Government knew about. Also, it was the reason Zephyr had to be killed. A volcano that was so massive that if it spewed out lava, it would turn the whole sea of the New World into obsidian. 

Something like that was crazy, no matter how strong someone was they wouldn't be able to handle that and the World Government wasn't confident in dealing with Max any other way. 

Akainu crouched down and his forehead started sweating as he tried to manipulate the lava down below the earth. He had made preparations for this beforehand. 

BOOOOOM!!!

Suddenly the sky turned red, and even Max's figure was engulfed in heat as the sea turned crimson, like blood. He looked at the waters he was flying over and his eyes widened and even though he could see the future this wasn't something that could be dodged.

Lava bulged out of the water in a stream and the heat was so high that it would incinerate anything that came in contact with it. 

Akainu immediately tried to settle down the lava that had started spewing, he just sensed Max's presence disappear. Even the mightiest people could die easily, and fast once things matched up. 

But the Fleet Admiral's eyes widened as he noticed something. "Damn… I… I can't control the outburst of lava!!"

The island around him incinerated and started melting, the trees burned and the ground below him turned into molten rock. But Akainu wasn't affected by this and tried to calm down the volcano. "Damn, damn, damn!! This is way stronger than predicted!!"

The outburst of lava came out uncontrollably and all Akainu could do was stare in despair. "I said stop!!"

His body enlarged to form into a giant lava figure, by manipulating the lava around him he created a giant of liquid fire. He then stomped on the ground and it shook, Akainu took a deep breath, and the lava that started engulfing the sea turned into obsidian and stopped its spread.

*huff* *huff* He breathed heavily as his body downsized back to normal and he fell on his knees. Taking a transponder snail out of a small metallic box, he spoke. "Bear D Max is dead, cause of death, burning alive. His passing has been confirmed and 100% confirmed."

"Good," the voice from the other side belonged to one of the Five Elders. "The news will be spread tomorrow. Also, rest a bit, and the assault on Wano will begin. Max's existence is to be eliminated from the world."
