CHAPTER 11 – QUEEN BEE

---

LORENZO MIGUEL SAMANIEGO POV

In our haste, I didn't realize that Monica was missing from the ambulance. I noticed her absence when I glanced towards the back of the vehicle.

"Wait, where's Monica?" I asked Riley, and we both looked around, realizing neither of us knew she wasn't inside. I quickly got out to return to the Emergency Room to find her.

I ran because we were racing against time. As soon as I entered, I headed straight to Mama Emma's room, but Monica was nowhere to be seen. I looked around the entire room, but she wasn't there. I stared off into the distance, frustrated.

Haist! Where could she be? Is she really that upset to storm off at a time like this?

I decided to ask around. "Excuse me, Nurse? Have you seen a beautiful woman with long hair, and grey eyes – "

Before I could finish, she shook her head and walked away. Haist! How am I supposed to find her?

Unexpectedly, while standing and looking around, someone bumped into me. I took a step back and was surprised to see that it was Monica.

I didn't know what to do at that moment, but I hugged her tightly when I noticed she was crying. "M-Monica?" I whispered.

She hugged me even tighter.

Wow, I can't explain what's happening with Monica. When it comes to her, I just don't know what to do. As we hugged, I felt like a statue, unable to speak or move.

After a while, "Sir!" someone called out. I turned to see Jeric, who informed us that we needed to leave. Monica abruptly let go of me and ran off. Riley was there with Jeric when he called me.

With everyone accounted for, we left immediately. The ambulance was heading to an airport where our aircraft was parked. The inside of the ambulance was quiet during the trip, as everyone, including Monica, was asleep from exhaustion. None of us had gotten any sleep or rest, so I let them be. I stayed awake to keep an eye on Mama Emma, frequently checking on her. Her blood pressure was still high, so I was watching her closely.

A few hours later…

GABRIELLA MONICA JIMENEZ POV

Oh my god! So this is the famous Air Ambulance they call Queen Bee? It's huge and looks just like a hospital! Riley and I were speechless as we took in our surroundings.

"Wow, girl. Queen Bee is really impressive. And I had no idea it was part of Samaniego Medical Hospital," Riley said, amazed as she looked around.

This air ambulance had been in the news and trended worldwide for its high-tech features. As health workers, it was incredible to see such an impressive air ambulance.

That's why I decided not to complain about working with Miguel. As long as he treats Mama, we're fine. And also, from the time that he's done and Mama got healed, we'll for sure immediately return to our hometown. There's no way that we'll stay in Manila for so long. I feel not safe in that city.

Meanwhile, as we continued exploring, we unexpectedly ran into Miguel. He was in his uniform, and I almost didn't recognize him. To be fair, he really looked like a professional doctor. It's surprising because, based on our first meeting, I couldn't imagine a white uniform suiting his dark personality.

And I didn't realize I was staring at him until Riley yelled at me. "Hey, girl! Just staring at Sir Miguel?" she snapped. Rolling her damn eyes!

Wow, this sassy friend of mine! You're lucky that Miguel is here and I can't give you your deserving slap in the face. And oh, I just realized that I have the most annoying person in the world. What if I just tie up these two fools? Oh my god, what am I thinking? I just can't get over my anger every time I see Miguel. Anyway, Miguel was actually here because he would give us something.

"Ahm, sorry. B-but what can I do for you?" I asked Miguel quietly, looking down as I waited for his response. His intense gaze and smile were making me uncomfortable.

"Ahh, yes. Here, take this key. Since you're here, open this room and stay there while we travel," he said with a smile, handing me the key.

I took the key, and later on, he immediately left and said goodbye to us.

And after he left, we immediately opened the door. "Wow, this ambulance even has rooms. It was definitely the right decision to trust Miguel with Mama Emma's care," Riley said excitedly as I slowly turned the key.

Actually, as I turned the key, I could hear what sounded like running inside. Riley and I were nervous, fearing it might be like St. Rose with its many ghosts. We were both scared, but we continued because we desperately needed to rest.

When we finally opened the door, we both screamed, not out of fear, but excitement when I saw my three children!

"Oh my god! Alonzo, Alisson, and Addison!" I shouted, and they ran to me, giving me tight hugs. We couldn't help but cry.

"I missed you all so much," I said tearfully, unable to believe they were with us, flying to Manila.

I had been worrying about the children and Lucy, thinking we would be away for a long time, especially with Mama being in a coma. Seeing my children made me incredibly emotional.

"Mommy, we miss you so much, and we miss Auntie Faith and Grandma," the three of them cried.

I cried even more when Alisson spoke, "Mommy, Grandma will get better, right? She will be with us for a long time, right? Because she will get better from her illness."

My heart melted hearing that. My children love their grandma so much. It breaks my heart to see them suffering because of Mama Emma's condition.

"Of course, Grandma will get better. She's brave, just like you. We need to stay strong for her, so she gets the energy from us. She'll wake up because of the energy we give her," I said, smiling through my tears.

"Okay, Mommy," they replied in unison, hugging me tightly.

--

And after our emotional conversation, we prayed together. A few minutes later, I put the children to bed as it was getting late. I watched over them until they fell asleep. Even Faith and Lucy had fallen asleep, leaving just my best friend and me awake. We decided to have coffee while sitting on the soft sofa in our room.

"Wow, girl, so much has happened to us these past few days. Storms, floods, being stranded at St. Rose, then the Medical Mission, your reunion with your brother, and your three children's Dadd—" Riley started, but I quickly covered her mouth.

I was worried the kids might wake up and hear her, so I immediately warned her.

"Riley, please zip it. You know we banned that word, especially when the kids are nearby," I whispered sternly.

"Sorry. But girl, when are you going to forgive him? He seems like a good person. Look, he helped us get Mama Emma treated quickly without being asked. He did it on his own," Riley whispered, pressing the issue.

I could feel my anger rising. I sensed my flirty friend was siding with Miguel, probably smitten by his looks.

"Girl, how do you know his intentions are good? It's his duty as a neurosurgeon to treat patients like Mama. Don't be too quick to trust him. You don't really know the real Miguel yet!"
