Huobai was getting bored. He played with guys that weren't as good as he was and they were always talking about some other guy, they saw streaming.
Not that Huobai wanted to be a center of attention in real life, but he was pissed, that they weren't talking about his skills. He was used to being the best. He had always been the talk of the school and even now, he still was.
He left the party he was in after saying he needed to go and went offline. Huobai then searched for the guy they were talking about.
The nickname was somehow familiar to Huobai, even though he didn't know why. But he had to say one thing. The character, the movements, and the gameplay were really superior to him.
Huobai searched up the character on the Chinese forum, and his mouth fell open. Because the person started playing almost at the same time as he did. Yet, his movements were smoother.
And that pissed him off. There was no way he would be defeated by someone who started at the same time as he did.
After that, Huobai became a lone wolf. He was leveling up alone, and only during some instances, he teamed up with random strangers.
And he leveled up a lot quicker than before. He even got into the top10 of the new server in the magician's class.
"Do you know your voice is really nice…" one of the voices he teamed up with said. Normally he would be freaked out that he forgot to enable the voice changer, but now, he didn't care. Not that they knew him in person.
"Thanks," he said, and continued to attack the boss. The player stopped bugging and focused on the play too. But once, after they finished it, they continued.
"No, I mean it. Do you have a streaming account? I would totally watch all of your streams, just because of the voice. And your skills are good too," they said, and Huobai frowned. He wasn't much into showing his privacy, not saying flaunting it on the internet.
"Why should I do that?" he asked, confused.
"It's really fun. You will interact with people, and you don't even have to show your face. If they like you, they might send you gifts and you may make some money." Huobai was just watching the unmoving characters, saying nothing. The other party members already left, so they were alone there.
"Imagine you are playing and leveling up while making money if you are good and can talk. And If you are really good, some gaming team might even notice you and invite you to join them." He didn't answer once again, thinking about it. And the stranger obviously couldn't take it anymore.
"Well, I tried, I really like your voice, so if you ever streamed, tell me I will definitely be your fan." And they left the party. Huobai knew it had to be a girl with a voice changer because no guy would be a fan of his just because of his voice.
But the thought of trying it intrigued Huobai. It was something new again. Something that only thinking of it made his heart race. Having fans again? Even now, when he couldn't be an athlete?
He went offline once again and decided to look into it. What was needed, how to do it? And it really sparked up his interest.
It was really amazing that there were so many rules, so much to do about gaining new people to follow. And most of those guys were fantastic players, but their fanbase wasn't so big.
Then there were some guys, who were… honestly, not so good in the game, but they had a lot of girls following them and basically simping over them.
And Huobai knew what he would be. Combination of both.
He smirked to himself while setting up the account and everything. He would use his voice to attract girls and his gameplay to attract guys.
He could even show part of his face, wearing a facemask, but have a small video in the corner of his play, because the mystery was attractive too.
Huobai just tried it out first, seeing how his internet and his computer could handle it, while he watched it on his smartphone. And he was pleasantly surprised that everything was running smoothly.
He stood up from the new gaming chair he had delivered last week and walked to his closet room. He was searching a while before he found a face mask.
Well, it wasn't a simple face mask, and it was the only one he found, so he had to use that one. It was a mask his mother got him before. It had chains crossing over the mouth and metal holes on the sides. It was more of a fashion accessory than a mask, but he didn't mind that.
He took a few pictures, made a new Weibo that was only for his gaming, and set up everything. He even posted a small snippet on his stream saying when it will be, followed a bunch of people. And then went to search up more information.
Huobai watched more people making small talk, he even read a book about marketing and social sites to be better. Just to have people that liked him.
And after a few weeks. It showed. His pictures, which he posted every day, were really liked, and they wanted his face revealed. Some girls said that they never knew they could love someone's voice that much.
The other part of his audience, boys, was actually amazed at how skilled he was. And they often send him friend messages or invites to their guilds or parties.
But Huobai declined them all.
He was waiting for one invitation. The invitation that would mean the defeat of Doom, the guy he came to resent. The guy that everyone was talking about on the server Huobai was.
But now, they were talking about two guys, Doom and SIG. Huobai was still nowhere near their level of fame. But he was trying very hard.
In school, he was managing his profiles, social network sites, and learning marketing, even more. After he came from school, he was playing almost nonstop.
He got so good in a few weeks that he was at the top now. While he took on some rather interesting offers.
