8 - Meeting Her
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'what in the.....'
Hyrus watched in silence as Tsuko and Kio greeted the newcomers, mainly observing Momo, who came as much of a shock to him as the necklace did.
'Is this what the beings in the letter meant when they said there would be surprises?' He contemplated.
Though he tried to be discreet in his observations, someone seemed to have taken notice of where his gaze was resting on.
Nejire, who was quietly watching the interaction of her parents and the Yaoyorozus, glanced at Hyrus and noticed that he was particularly interested in a little girl standing next to the Yaoyorozus.
She pouted at him and secretly stepped on his shoe, making it look as if it was an accident.
"Hm?"
Hyrus noticed that she did it intentionally and asked "What's wrong little Nejire?"
Nejire didn't respond and only crossed her arms.
'Weird.' he thought, and went back to looking at Momo.
A few minutes of talking between the heads of two different companies later, and Tsuko turned back to Hyrus and Nejire.
"We're going to discuss more in private, remember what we told you and take care of yourselves."
To which, Hyrus and Nejire nodded in response.
"Yashi and Momo you both should stay here, I trust you know what to do." The father of the the household, Takashi said.
"Yes dad!" Yashi and Momo yelled out unanimously.
The two pairs of couples then walked back in to the door that the other pair just came out of, leaving the guests in the ballroom with no choice but to continue on their own.
They once again started chatting with each other freely, without the weight of pressure to restrain them.
~~~~~1st person POV: Hyrus Hado~~~~~
The sound of conversations filled my surroundings, this party was quite filled with people.
Nejire had gone to find a table with a chocolate dessert of some sort, so I was all on my own for now.
Though she was pretty far I kept an eye on her at all times, when we entered a few minutes ago I saw a few suspicious movements so I must remain vigilant.
That aside, there was Momo. She looked just like how she was in the anime, just younger, but still, her appearance was a surprise.
When Tsuko said to get along with the Yaoyorozu's kids, I thought she meant Momo's siblings, since it was never stated in the anime whether she had siblings or not.
This life has been filled with many surprises, this might be one of the more surprising ones yet. Though it is a big change for the canon timeline, my goals are hardly affected, but I am interested to know whether the other characters are aged up too, or whether momo is the only one, to which I wouldn't know for what purpose.
"Hey, you are Hyrus Hado right?" A voice called out to me.
I turned to the direction of the voice and saw a young boy, from the looks of it he wws just a few years older than me
"Yes I am, and you are..?"
"Yashi; Yashi Yaoyorozu, nice to meet you." He extended a greeting and his hand for a shake.
"Pleasure to meet you." I told him and shook his hand.
With all the formalities out of the way, we let our conversation go freely, talking about all sorts of topics. He's a good kid, though he is young he isn't childish, he is probably already acutely aware of his responsibilities, which was better than most.
He chuckled "You know, you remind me a lot of my younger sister."
"Hm? How so?" I inquired, it would be interesting to know the similarities between me and a previously fictional character.
"Well you both talk weird, you use words I don't know the meaning of, and you're both very smart."
Ah, Momo was always one of the smart ones in the 1-A group, I didn't know she was that intelligent as a child though.
"I see."
A few more minutes of idle conversation later and he left.
"I'm gonna go and talk to the other guests, my mother told me that I needed to look for 'bees' at my age, whatever that means."
I only nodded and took another bite of chocolate cake, it was delicious.
I turned to look at the table behind me, to see if there was anything else that I would like. I was about to pick up a nice looking parfait when I felt someone tapping a finger on my shoulder.
"Hi, would you mind if I have that?"
"I went to every table and they all didn't have any, this is the last one you see." It was Momo Yaoyorozu.
I nodded "You can have it." Her face reminded me so much of someone that I couldn't resist.
"Yes! Thank you so mu–" She stopped talking halfway through and started eating the parfait.
I don't know if I forgot, but I didn't know Momo liked food this much. Maybe this is why her quirk needed her calories to create stuff.
She finished eating the parfait, and fixed herself up before turning to me, a blush of embarrassment on her face.
"So uhh..."
"My name is Hyrus Hado, you are Momo Yaoyorozu right?" I asked, trying to break the ice.
"Y- Yes, yes it is. Nice to meet you." She bowed her head a little, still trying to hide the embarassment on her face.
I nodded and bowed my head a little too.
A few moments of silence passed, I didn't really know how to talk to a child other than Nejire, my relationship with my children just flowed naturally. I didn't know how to handle Momo.
"Do you... read any books?" Momo suddenly asked me, making her own efforts to start a conversation.
"Yeah, I mostly read to teach my sister new words though."
"Ooh! Which ones?" Her eyes that was filled with shyness a minute ago, were now gleaming in anticipation. It looks like she likes books.
"The most recent one I used to teach my sister was 'Englishionary' and a book titled'English for idiots', though the latter was more on the entertainment side."
"Oh I've read both of those! They were very educational, I found the–" She kept on about the two books and what she thought about them, the contrast between herself now and just a few minutes ago was almost astounding, it was cute.
Since she liked books, that was the main topic of our conversation, though I mostly listened and let her do the talking, her interest in literature is one of the best things about her in my own opinion, those type of scenes with her in the anime were fairly rare, so this is refreshing.
As much as I had fun listening to her talk about the things she liked, all good things must come to an end, and that's not bad. Sometimes it needs to end in order for good to start and bloom anew.
