6 - A mother and her son
~~~~~~1st person POV: ???~~~~~~
I, Tsuko Hado, am the Chief Operations Officer (COO) of HypeTech, as the name suggests, it is a tech company, renowned throughout the world as the biggest tech company in Japan, though I am proud to say that even compared to the largest companies all around the globe, HypeTech could hold it's ground in terms of influential power and technological advances.
I, along with my husband, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HypeTech, work tirelessly practically everyday, meticulously checking details, whether they are big or small, there are no exceptions, to ensure that everything is in order.
While it is my husband's duty to make the major and important decisions that affect the entire company as a whole, it is my role to strictly monitor the other workers at the company, to check their work, and look out for any suspicious activity, it is my responsibility to make sure the company is working as efficiently as possible. In doing so, it seems, I have been given a nickname by the company's regular workers, though I was never too fond of it.
Throughout my years of working for HypeTech, even when I had to climb my way up through the ranks with success, no question nor problem had ever stumped me. Not until I had kids.
My daughter, was nothing but a little gem of happiness and excitement, I loved and adored my adorable daughter more that anything else in the world, her laughter made the tiring weeks and months just a little bit more bearable, nothing ever seemed capable of wiping that cute smile off her face, nothing except for her brother, which brings me to my current conundrum.
My son, who I loved just as much as Nejire, had always been special. He had both the intellectual intelligence and emotional intelligence that could put most adults to shame, and while that could all be chalked up to having an intelligence type quirk; something else couldn't. His eyes, everytime we locked eyes he gave me the feeling of someone much older and much more experienced than me, just like those old men at the company. Moreover, my intuition is telling me that this is not the doing of a quirk, something here is amiss.
Although I could just ask him about it, if my suspicions amount to nothing, it would risk him feeling isolated and alone, and I wouldn't trust anyone or anything when it comes to that, not even my intuition. So I tried looking for answers on my own, observing him secretly, he had learned how to talk a few months before his 3rd birthday, nejire not much after. The way he talked only intensified my curiosity, his tone peculiar, but I still didn't take action.
However, I am afraid that soon, my curiosity will reach it's boiling point, and I will not be able to help myself from asking him questions that he himself may not even know the answers to.
I looked at the clock hanging on the wall of my spacious office, it was about time for the department head of finances for our company to report to me about the possible partnership between us and another large company.
As I was reading through my emails, a sound came from the door.
Knock, Knock, Knock!
I checked the monitor on my far left, it displayed the footage outside of my office that was being recorded on the security cameras, since the protection I hired hasn't said anything, I assumed it to be Nejire as she usually comes and plays in my office at around this time. I was wrong.
"Come in!"
The door opened, revealing a little white haired boy, with innocent blue eyes that was a stark contrast to his mature demeanor.
"Hyrus! You got something you want to ask from mom?"
~~~~~1st person POV: Hyrus Hado~~~~~
I opened the door and saw Tsuko greeting me with a smile. Despite having her questions about me, it never stopped Tsuko from loving and giving me care like any good parent would to their child, I'd even say Tsuko went above and beyond, which was more than commendable in its own right.
"Hyrus! You got something you want to ask from mom?" She asked me delicately, her tone betraying the nickname she apparently has within HypeTech, according to Kio's stories at least.
"Not really, I just wanted to ask about this necklace that Nejire gave me." I said while pointing at the necklace.
Tsuko turned her gaze away from me and onto the necklace. "Hm? The one she bought at that shop a few days ago?" She asked, intrigued by my sudden curiosity towards this necklace, to which I nodded in response.
"What about it? I see she gave it to you today." She said with a smile, ever the doting mother.
"Nothing important, I just wanted to know the origins of such a beautiful piece of jewelry." I said a half-truth, it was objectively beautiful.
Tsuko, seemingly used to my unusual way of talking for a 3 year old, answered quickly. "Well if you want to know more about it, I have the certificate of authenticity here. It should have some more details about the necklace on it."
"Can I read it?" I asked her with a smile. Although I'm sure it wouldn't contain all the details about the necklace on it, anything would help at this stage.
Tsuko nodded and pulled open a drawer that was built-in her office table, she took an envelope out of the drawer and pushed it close.
She handed me the envelope and I opened it, pulling out a fancy certificate embellished in gold. "Thank you." I said as I started reading the certificate.
Skimming through the contents of the certificate, I found a few pieces of relevant information in there. The jewel embedded in the necklace was a blue diamond with a lighter shade, mirroring the color of my icy blue eyes, the cause of the gold particles inside the diamond were unknown, however, most saw it as a flaw.
Fools they are.
The most important snippet of information, was that just like little Nejire said, the necklace was supplied by an anonymous source.
It seems that I might have to ask Tsuko for a meeting with the owner of the shop they bought this at, though that may raise Tsuko's suspicions to greater heights.
As I was reviewing the options I haf in my head, Tsuko called out to me.
"What's wrong Hyrus, did you see something you don't like?" Tsuko asked me thoughtfully.
"Nothing at all mom, it's great actually." I said while handing her the certificate, now back inside the envelope.
"That's good!" She nodded, now putting the envelope back in the drawer.
I watched her quietly for a few seconds, before speaking up "Hey mom, do you have any questions that you want to ask me? You've always seemed like you do." I said, taking a risky and impulsive action.
Tsuko stopped right in her tracks, her stillness bringing silence in the room.
A few seconds later, Tsuko sighed and turned towards me.
"So you know?"
I nodded.
"It's really nothing Hyrus, it might just be mom being silly and overthinking things." She sighed again.
"Don't worry you can ask me, you're the one who always told us to express how we feel, no matter what." I turned her own words against her.
"...."
Tsuko stayed silent for a few fleeting moments before speaking again "You really are a smart little boy, you know that?" She said with a gentle smile on her face.
I nodded. "You are my mother after all." Although I haven't fully accepted her yet, calling her my mother outwardly was the least I could do.
Tsuko chuckled "Yeah, that's right."
"As for your earlier question; yes, I do have a few things I want to ask you. But when I ask them, you promise to remember that I love you no matter what okay? These questions are just for my curiosity and to tame my nosiness after all." Tsuko added.
That's right, I did hear about the drawbacks of her quirk, it being the insatiable desire to know every answer to her questions, and considering how much time she has been keeping these questions to herself for, it's impressive that she was able to hold it in that long.
In this world, quirks almost always have pretty obvious drawbacks and side effects; a strength enhancement quirk, having the possibility of tearing yourself apart if you use it without proper training for example. The drawbacks of Tsuko's quirk, although seemingly not that serious and detrimental at first, can be a huge problem when it comes to the social aspect, which leads me to wonder how her and Kio worked it out.
"I promise." I responded, she was probably thinking that if her suspicions are wrong, I would feel estranged and different, or something along the lines, which was pretty reasonable.
Tsuko nodded and took a deep breath.
"Do you have anything you want to say to me Hyrus? Even when you were just born, you were always not unlike the other babies I've seen, you exuded an aura of maturity and experience that not even most adults I've encountered have. When you learned how to talk, it only amplified my speculation."
"After only a few days, even your tone of speaking aside, you knew words a child your age shouldn't, you read books a child shouldn't be interested in either, intelligence quirk or not."
"I wanted to believe it was just a new type of intelligence quirk or unparalleled genius, but my intuition always said the opposite."
"My question is, what exactly is it about you that lets you do those things Hyrus?" She finished getting it off her chest.
Wow. That was.....
A horrible way to word it.
If I was a normal kid and my mother asked me that, I'd be pretty hurt and sad. It seems Tsuko is a little bit oblivious in this particular subject.
Fortunately, I'm not just a normal kid.
After contemplating for a seconds, I broke the silence, stopping Tsuko's nervousness from growing any bigger.
"Considering how I've been acting, I would say that your suspicions are more or less, pretty reasonable." I said as I looked at Tsuko, her anxious face slowly calming.
"However, for reasons I can't say, I can't tell you the entire answer to your question yet." As if now, I still don't know how Tsuko would react to the truth, the truth of my reincarnation, the only ones I ever told about it were my lovers and a close friend. I'll wait on telling Tsuko and anyone else here until I'm sure I can fully gauge their reaction.
"But I will say this, no matter what, I am your son, Hyrus Hado, and nothing will change that. You giving birth to me and Nejire is real, every memory you have of taking care of us as an infant, and even now, is real."
"Whatever the truth is, those facts will never turn into lies." I said truthfully, keeping my answer vague but just enough to satisfy her for the time being.
Silence occupied the room for an unknown amount of time before Tsuko stood up from her chair and kneeled infront of me to give me a hug.
"Okay, I'll take that answer for now" She said with a bright smile, a weight lifted off her shoulders.
After that, me and Tsuko chatted animatedly for more than half an hour, the time passing like a plane in the sky.
Tsuko then said something that caught my attention.
"There's a party happening soon where we will meet up with some important people from a big business to discuss a possible collaboration, the leading person from the other company has kids as well, so I was hoping you and Nejire would come along with us to make things go a little more smoothly." Tsuko said.
"Can I ask which business you're talking about?" I let out a question, merely to know more details about the importance of the party, not thinking that something important would happen.
"It's official name is Yaoyorozu Incorporated." Tsuko said, unknowingly dropping a small bomb of information.
