Noble Emblem

A young Brave walked out of his village, gathered companions to his side, defeated the Great Demon King, became famous, then came back with beauties in hand! This was a legend that appears in the world of Seyrol every 200 years! Our protagonist, however, isn’t a Brave. Even so, for over a thousand years his figure has loomed throughout its history. Unwittingly, the name of the Red Priest began to resound throughout the world. Red Priest’s legend included extraordinary sword techniques and magic, erudite knowledge, and an almost prophetic ability to lead young Braves toward the proper path. People of the world think of him as a descendent of the ancient Golden Race which led to his omnipotence. In essence, however, this was just the characteristics of the profession known as ‘Noble’. A word from the fabulousest translator/editor on Earth which is me I took upon this translation/editing project for the same reason I started translating my first Chinese novel. There are just too many big ass gems buried in a deep cesspool. I've long guessed that Qidian stopped introducing good Chinese novels on this platform in order to give some breathing room for English (and other) originals, but I don't agree with such approach. From a reader's standpoint, it is such a shame that we don't even know how many brilliant works we are missing because of the language barrier. To be honest, I'm mainly copypasting from the site called Novelhi. It is a really good resource and their machine translation is the best I've seen so far, and they also translate up to the latest available chapter. Still, they have several issues. For some reason they always miss the last paragraph which make you can missout on a potentially very important information related to a story, and they also have parts where just a couple of words gets repeated for a whole paragraph and it actually replaces the original text. They also translate an ad together with a chapter which is immersion breaking. I'll be correcting the inherent sins of such MTL with manual editing and translation and I will also polish some rough edges so that the readers will have as much seemless reading experience as possible. You will definitely have a better time reading this than me for sure

Evil thoughts

Charonte City was still as cold as ever. Most of the people were hiding in their homes. The poor were snuggling up against each other for warmth, while the rich were gathered by the warm fireplaces, talking about the world and pointing fingers at the world. Servants were behind them, serving cold fruit wine. Because the fire in the fireplace was too hot, the room they were in even felt like it was summer.

Beta walked on the street, seeing that there would be curled up emaciated corpses covered in frost from time to time on both sides of the road. He sighed in his heart and then pretended not to see them.

This world was too dangerous, especially for ordinary people. Not to mention the fact that the magical beasts in the outskirts could kill them, just the hunger and cold would follow them like shadows … Whether the people of a region lived well or not, to a large extent, depended on the benevolence of the lord.

Now it was obvious that the lord of Charonte City was not a benevolent person.

When Beta was a lord in the game, because of the extremely low agricultural taxes and the good citizen welfare, almost no one in his territory would die of hunger and cold every winter. If there were, it would be an accident. It wasn't a vagrant or a beggar.

Shirley and Emma followed beside him. These two women were not surprised by the beggars or vagrants' corpses on both sides of the street.

Shirley was a divine being and was born to be high and mighty. She had no interest in mortal affairs, and apart from Beta, she did not care about the life or death of others. Emma, on the other hand, was a native of this world. Although she was only fifteen years old, she was used to seeing people die in the winter. In her mind, it was normal for people to die in the winter.

Beta once again came to the slave market … Because this place smelled too bad and dirty, Shirley and Emma waited outside.

When Beta walked into the market, before he officially started to buy slaves, a fat official walked towards him with a few subordinates.

"We haven't seen each other for a while, Your Excellency Red Priest is still as elegant as ever."

Looking at the chubby noble in front of him, Beta remembered his name and smiled. "It's been a while, Your Excellency. I'm here to buy slaves again. Take a look, do you have any good recommendations? "

Francis' fat face froze for a second, then he smiled and said, "How much do you need?"

"The more, the better." Beta looked around the entire slave market. "You have about 2,000 people here. How about you let me have all of them?"

Francis took a deep breath and said, "You have a good appetite, sir."

"My city is short of labor," Beta said calmly.

Francis closed his eyes and thought for a while. "I can only give you one thousand and five hundred people. I have to keep the other five hundred. Otherwise, I will be short on manpower."

"Sure. No problem. " Beta nodded. "I'll leave the specifics to you. Give me an exact number."

"Two hundred and fifty gold coins." The fat man thought for a while and then continued, "But I need time to mobilize so many slaves at once, at least five days … If Your Excellency is willing, you can stay in my manor for a few days and let me treat my guests well."

"You're too polite." Although Beta did not have a good impression of the slave owners, he still had to rely on them to attract residents to his city. "But I have other things to take care of. I'll come back in five days. I won't bother you for now."

"You're too polite." Francis shook his head and looked regretful.

Beta smiled, turned around, and left.

Francis watched Beta leave. After a while, he said to his servants, "Help me find out what the Red Priest has been doing recently. Why did he suddenly need so many slaves? Plus, there are more than 700 slaves. Even if they are used to build a city, the number of slaves is still too much."

The two servants took the order and left.

Beta had no idea that someone was investigating him. He went outside and brought Sherry and Emma to the streets.

Because it was winter, there was nothing to buy in Calonte City, so there was no place to shop.

Even so, Emma and Beta still felt rather happy walking together. It had been more than a year since they last met. During this period of time, she had been missing this man by her side all the time, to the point where she had trouble sleeping.

Most of the time, a woman would be satisfied to be able to stay with the person she liked.

Beta was walking on the street with the two women. Although there weren't many people on the street, almost everyone would look at Emma and Shirley.

The three of them were already used to this kind of gaze, but sometimes, there was a kind of gaze that couldn't be ignored.

Malice.

Although it was only for a short moment, all three of them felt it.

Beta and the other two were Master-rank experts, so they were very sensitive to malice and killing intent. Generally speaking, only professionals like Assassins could hide their killing intent or malice. The other party's malice had been so strong, but it had disappeared in a flash. This meant that even if the other party wasn't very good at concealment, it wouldn't be too bad.

However, the other party definitely wasn't an expert Assassin. Otherwise, Beta and the others wouldn't have been able to sense such malice.

"It seems like you have many enemies." Emma's eyes lit up as she looked in the direction of the malice. She didn't want Beta to be hurt, but if Beta had enemies, she would have more reason to stay by his side. Her excuse was also very simple. She just had to say that she was helping her friend.

Beta felt that this malice was somewhat familiar. As they walked, he thought for a while and suddenly said to Shirley, "Do you remember some time ago, when we were with the Yorks and were attacked by a small group? After they were destroyed, we killed a Vampire?"

Hearing this, Shirley immediately understood. "It's very similar."

Emma's eyes widened as she asked, "Vampires? What's going on? Can you tell me? "

Beta told him the gist of what had happened.

After listening, Emma's beautiful face was filled with malice as she walked. "Vampires … Such evil creatures actually dare to appear in front of the world. Aren't they afraid of another purge?"

Because vampires had the ability to turn humans into vampires, it would not take long for the human world to become a world of vampires if they were not restrained. Therefore, all the countries in the human world feared them. Hundreds of years ago, most countries united and carried out a great purge against the vampires. At that time, 99% of the vampires were destroyed, and only a small number escaped and went into hiding.

Since then, vampires rarely appeared in the human world.

This matter was recorded by the various Shrines. As a Saintess, Emma had also studied it.

Also, all the Shrines had given orders that vampires were to be killed on the spot if they were encountered, regardless of whether they were good or evil.

Emma was a Saintess. Although she wasn't as extreme about evil creatures as the Paladin of the Church of Light, she hated vampires. Besides, the books described how evil vampires were and how they could turn young and pure women into sluts.

"Beta, let's find a way to kill this vampire." Emma looked at the man next to her expectantly.

Beta, however, shook his head. "We're just suspecting. We haven't confirmed that the evil thoughts just now came from a vampire."

"Even if it wasn't from a vampire, we have to find out who he is given how much he wants to kill you."

Beta nodded. "That's true."

No matter who it was, being stared at by someone with such a strong killing intent would make anyone feel uncomfortable. Beta had a lot of enemies. He couldn't be sure who was after him, but in any case, the vampire was still the most suspicious. So, he still searched for the enemy based on the vampires.

As long as it was the activity of intelligent creatures, there would always be some traces left.

Vampires also had many characteristics. For example, they loved to suck blood. If they didn't turn a blood thrall into one of their own, the blood thrall would be sucked dry before long.

Also, vampires didn't like to come out during the day. They were pale and only liked to move at night.

Beta decided to start from these two aspects. The most well-informed people in a city were, after all, the city's gangsters. To order these gangsters around, he had to find their boss.

Old Bush was the boss of Charonte City's gangsters. He was already in his seventies, and in terms of combat ability, he was absolutely terrible. However, the gangsters didn't dare to overthrow his rule. The reason was simple. Old Bush was not only ruthless enough, but also knew how to buy people and judge people.

His confidants were all loyal to him, and these confidants instigated a lot of people.

The gangsters could only helplessly accept Old Bush's orders.

After beating up seven gangsters, Beta finally found the place where Old Bush lived.

This was a small wooden house hidden in the woods behind the wealthy district. When Beta found it, he saw an old man with silver hair carving a wooden sculpture of a woman with a knife.

Hearing the sound, he raised his head and glanced at Beta with his turbid and freckled eyes. Then he said slowly, "This is not a place for nobles."

"I came to ask you to do something for me."

Old Bush clapped his hands, and about twenty strong-looking men appeared. They held sharp weapons in their hands and were slowly approaching.

This time, Beta came alone. He looked around and said with a smile, "If I were you, I wouldn't let them come closer. No matter how much ordinary people pretend, they can't pretend to be professionals."

Old Bush chuckled and didn't say anything.

The dozen or so burly men raised their weapons and shouted at the same time as they charged at Beta.

A ring of fire shook off from Beta's body. When the burly men touched this ring of fire, they immediately flew back and fell to the ground. For a moment, miserable screams rang out.

Beta looked at Old Bush and said, "Now we can talk quietly."
