Xavier was sitting on his couch with his hands crossed behind the back of his head. He was waiting for Amber to get home. Peter made his way into the guest house because Xavier called for him. He was trying his best to avoid him because he didn’t want to tell him about what he saw, but now that he had seen him, he couldn’t stop himself from talking anymore.
"Hey, Peter, over here! I have been waiting for you." Xavier said, waving at him to go to him in a cheerful tone. Peter gulped and walked over to him. He sat next to Xavier on the couch.
"When does Amber normally close from work? I am supposed to go on a date with her." Xavier said, with a big smile on his face. Peter couldn’t help but notice the tuxedo he was putting on and the designer boots.
"She is running late. She normally comes back at 8:00 pm," Peter replied.
"Really? I didn’t know that. I hope she is not trying to avoid me. I have made a lot of preparations to make her happy," Xavier said, pulling out two movie tickets from his pocket.
"I heard she is always busy at work and it has been a long time she watched a movie, so I want to see one with her." he beamed. Peter frowned. He was angry that Amber was playing with the heart of such a nice guy in his opinion. He was clutching his trousers hard, burning with fury. Xavier noticed something was troubling him because he was constantly avoiding his gaze.
"What’s wrong, Peter?" he asked, gazing at him.
"I um, I have to go." Peter said, and quickly stood up from the couch.
"Get me a drink before you go," he said.
"Okay." Peter replied flatly and sauntered to the bar area, taking some wines from the huge shelves. He placed a glass on the counter and cleaned the wine bottle before pouring the wine into the glass.
"Make it two glasses." Xavier said, with his gaze fixed on him. He turned to look at Xavier.
"I can’t. I don’t know how to drink." Peter protested.
"Geez, come on." Xavier groaned, scrunching his face.
"I am not allowed to drink at work; it’s the number one rule." he replied.
"I understand. Just bring the drink to me." Xavier said, extending his hand to him. Peter sauntered over to him and handed him the drink. Xavier tapped the couch.
"Have a seat. What’s wrong with you? Why do you look tense?" he asked. Peter’s eyes widened. He was not a professional at hiding his feelings. He scratched the back of his head and hesitated to sit on the couch.
"I have to go. I need to tell the maids what to make for dinner for Miss Amber." Peter said, attempting to leave, but Xavier stood in front of him, taking a sip of his drink.
"Since she is not here, I am your boss, so you should answer to me. You are not allowed to leave this room until I say so." Xavier said rudely. Peter sighed. He couldn’t hide it anymore. He liked Xavier for Amber.
"Earlier today, I saw Miss Amber with the other guy." Peter said, with his lips trembling, looking from side to side, that he felt guilty for snitching on Amber. Xavier’s expression changed to a serious one.
"Which other guy? What does he look like?" he asked.
"It was Mason, the guy that kidnapped me to get her attention." Peter muttered. Xavier’s jaw dropped.
"Mason! What were they doing together?" Xavier asked angrily.
"I don’t know, I saw them gushing over each other. He wanted to kiss her. She acted like she was hiding him away from you." Peter said, he a blink of an eye, Xavier flipped the glass table that was in the middle of the room upside down and it shattered into pieces. His heart skipped a beat. He regretted telling him.
"T…They were together?" He asked, raising a brow. Peter nodded positively.
"Maybe this is the reason she hasn’t come home. If I am not mistaken, she is with him as we speak. I can’t believe she can be this cunning, she is cheating on me." Xavier said, raising his voice.
"I can’t believe she can be a fool for love. He clearly doesn’t deserve her, but she always runs back to him. I need to set things straight." Xavier said, clenching his fist, and tossed the glass of wine to the floor.
"Clean up the mess," he told Peter, walking towards the door.
"What are you going to do, sir? Please don’t use force. " Peter pleaded in a shaky voice.
"You should have thought of the aftermath before you told me this. I can’t believe she ditched me because of him." He grumbled and exited the house.
Amber finished putting on her dress and twirled in front of the mirror. The dress was perfect. She didn’t know what Mason had in mind, but she wanted to look her best. She missed him a lot and also missed his touch. She couldn’t wait to see him.
She walked out of the bathroom and grabbed her bag, spraying one of her latest collections all over her body. She breathed into the air and started walking out of her office. Some of the employees had already gone home, so the company was a little empty.
She walked majestically into the elevator and pressed the button to the main area. The elevator came to a halt and opened. She strolled out and was about to head to the entrance when she spotted Lucas. He was holding a rose flower over his face with the word "sorry" written on it.
"What’s the meaning of this?" She asked rudely, walking over to him. He lowered the rose and gazed at her.
"I am sorry for what I did. I was drunk. Now that I am sober, I want to make it up to you. Please forgive me." He pleaded; he knew he didn’t have a chance with her anymore since she was engaged. Amber attempted to walk out on him, but he blocked her path.
