"what time are you going to work" Charles ask Sonya while they wait for the lecturer to come in.

"immediately am through with this class am leaving" she answered

"then we can go together and maybe we will be assigned to the same department" he said excitedly.

"hmm, i actually wanted to tell you this yesterday but am already assigned to a department and i started yesterday" she said feeling apologetic.

"really, it doesn't matter anyways at least we are still working together" the lecturer entered the class and they stopped their discussion to concentrate on the lecture.

...."Sonya wake up" Charles tap her gently.

"are we through with the lecture" she raise her head and rub her eyes.

"the lecture ended more than twenty minutes ago and you slept through out" he answered making jest of her.

"what do you mean? i didn't fall asleep until after the lecturer mentioned the topic" she hissed at him.

"what a great student you are" he said mockingly. Sonya ignored him and pack her stuff.

"rub the saliva at the side of your mouth" Sonya quickly rub her cheek and found nothing then she realized that he has tricked her, she grab her book and use it to hit him. Charles laugh and try to stop her from hitting him further.

"what do you think you are doing?" they were interrupted by two girls. Sonya stopped hitting him and they both face them.

"and you are?" the girls ignored her and face Charles.

"Charles since the day you start hanging out with her, you've forgotten all about us. we can't even reach you" one of the girl said.

"i don't think we are close enough for me to report about myself to you" he looked pissed off.

"are you serious, because of her you are dumping us." the other said not believing her ears.

"there is no relationship between us to begin with and if you will excuse us we have somewhere else to be" he said and pull Sonya with him. they got outside and Sonya released her hand from his.

"don't you think the way you talk to them is a bit mean" Charles continue walking not answering her. Sonya decide to leave it and they board a cab to work.

Charles walk towards the human resources department while Sonya went straight to the finance and accounting department.

"why are you just coming in now" Sonya was stop at the entrance by Katherine.

"i just finished my class and i came over immediately" she looked down, a little sacred to look her straight in the eyes. "is that also why you abandon what i asked you to do yesterday, you dropped it back on my table undone. what if it was tampered with while you left it laying on the table carelessly? what do you mean by that?" she shouted at her.

"i did everything i was told to do yesterday" she replied a little sacred. Katherine threw a big file in her face.

"so how do you explain this" she shouted again. Sonya look at the file on the floor but she did not remember anyone giving it to her yesterday.

"i am sorry" she said silently.

"you are sorry? you seriously think being sorry can fix this" she snap at her again. just then the new intern was lead in by one of the staff.

"Mrs Katherine, miss Ariana, these are the new intern that is assigned to your department" she interrupted referring to Charles and another girl.

"you must finish this today and you are not allowed to leave until you do it and am going to report this to the CEO" Kate said and went to attend to the interns. Sonya pick up the file and open it. it was about the financial records of the company from the last two years.

"what exactly did she want her to do with it" she wondered. she moved to her sit and sat down. she find another loads of work waiting for her on her desk.

"so, how is it going" she heard Charles say behind her. she turn to face him.

"we are still in the same department" he said and move closer to her.

"Sonya right, you must be really surprised" Ariana said and walk towards her. Sonya remembered that she was the who told the receptionist to send her away yesterday.

"Good day" she greeted her.

"how do you feel about your work don't you think is a bit too much. Huh, poor girl. Don't worry, am going to make sure you quit by yourself" she said mockingly. Sonya was puzzled.

"she did not think she has offended her in any way. why will she talk to her like that" she thought.

"and you, i guess you want to work here without any issues right? so is better for you to choose your side right" Ariana said to Charles and walk away.

"Whoa! impressive Sonya. you got yourself an enemy already" Charles teased her.

"this is not funny. i don't even know her, why would she dislike me for no reason?" she said annoyed.

"maybe because she is jealous that you are more beautiful than her. you know, she looks scary with that make up of hers" Charles said jokingly.

"that's not funny" Sonya said and smiled.

"i will just take a sit beside you and wait for order then" Charles put out the chair and sat next to her.

"hey guys, am Blair, am an undergraduate and i also new here like you guys" Sonya and Charles turned to her and replied her greetings.

"will you guys like me to give you a brief introduction of our department. since you agree then i will start. listen well, first of all Mrs Katherine, she was transfer to the department a week ago because she defeated Mr Philip, one of the executives and she is very strict and one more thing" she said move closer to their ears and whispered. "no one has ever seen her husband before but she always calm that she's married and with a kid" she moved away from their ears "and the next person is Ariana. she is Mrs Kathrine's assistant and she has been working here since she graduated from school. she was once rumored to be in a relationship with the CEO but i heard it was fake" she said and laugh.

"what is so interesting" she heard Ariana's voice behind her an stop laughing immediately.

"nothing" she said and bow her head. Sonya and Charles laugh silently at her.

"both of you should help around and do the menial jobs for today. you will be assigned to proper work tomorrow. she said and walk out majestically.

"am Sonya, nice to meet you" Sonya said to Blair who was still bowing her head. she raised her head and smiled at her.

"am Charles nice to meet you" Charles also said.

"so how do you know all this information" Sonya asked her. "oh that my dad works here" she answered and took a sit beside them.

"so since we don't really have anything to do you can just help you with all this task and you can focus on the stuff Mrs Katherine ask you to do" Charles offered.

"okay thanks guys" she said and they shared the duties and get to work. Sonya didn't know what exactly Mrs Katherine wants her to do so she just decide to do everything she could think of on the file. she start off with arranging the the financial statement for the whole two years and work to balance it and so on.
