Chapter 17 - Mission to Rōran

"Minato, are you sure? Both of us are injured." Kagami asked.

Currently inside a tent to gain a bit of privacy, Kagami currently looked at Minato across from him. His half teacher was currently inviting him and Mira to join his current mission assigned to him about exploring a land known as Roran. Or more specifically an immense chakra flare up that occurred not long ago around that area.

"There shouldn't be anything to worry about. It is a simple investigation mission." Minato smiled.

'Says the one that is currently teaming with three other jonin.' Kagami thought.

Then Kagami glanced at Mira who looked thoughtful for a moment debating if she should go. Thinking it over himself, as long as there isn't heavily lifting or intense combat. Neither he or Mira should have an issue.

'However, it wouldn't be wise either.' Kagami thought.

While they would get credit in their files that would boost their chances of being promoted and a bit of money. Their health is more important as this credit wouldn't do them much good if they are dead or crippled. So it was a very hard debate to accept or not.

"Is Kagami Senju and Mira Uchiha in here?" A chunin man asked, stepping into the tent.

"That is us." Mira pointed to herself and Kagami.

"You have been requested by the Hokage to join Minato and his team." The chunin said before leaving.

Blinking at the order, Kagami looked at Minato who seemed to be in an awkward spot. He had just offered the option, but who could have expected the Hokage to add them.

"Well it looks like we will be joining you." Kagami laughed awkwardly.

Minato also laughed before excusing himself.

Back in Konoha, Hiruzen leaned back in his chair with a smile. In his hands were a letter from Sunagakure telling about how they surrender after their failure. However, his smile soon turned into a frown as he looked at the bottom half of the letter.

"Why did the camp stay to repel the enemy when the letter asked them to retreat." Hiruzen mumbled to himself. "Did they simply ignore the order or did someone tamper with my orders?"

Tapping his finger on the desk, Hiruzen could think of multiple sincero or multiple who had the guts to tamper with his orders. So while making a mental note about this possibility, even if he investigates this angle, he probably won't get much. So he simply began to think about something else for the time being.

'Either way, I hope that the children in the camp were evacuated since they are the future. So assigning Kagami and Mira to Minato should give them some good experience.' Hiruzen smiled as he has high hopes for those two like Kakashi.

A day later, a group of six were walking through the desert at a moderate pace. During which Minato began to explain what is already known. For what they know isn't really anything at all as it is just a small country that fell into hard times. Many which surround it are just patiently waiting for it to collapse any year now and dive in for the land it owns.

"We are tasked with investigating Roran and the minister. It is suspected he is planning something large. So our task is to investigate and assassinate if necessary." Minato explained to everyone. "Upon arriving, I and Kaskashi shall meet with the queen, while I want Kagami, Mira, Shibi and Choza to investigate around the city."

"Is there anything we should specifically look for?" Mira asked.

"If they are looking to do something big, then it's probably along the lines of stockpiling materials or weapons." Choza answered kindly. "I shall investigate the crafters and restaurants in the city. I will see if I can find something among the gossip."

"I shall investigate the market and 'questionable' shops." Shibi added.

"Mira shall ask the children since they tend to hear more than many think. Who knows if one of their parents spoke about it at home." Kagami stated. "I will investigate the doctors and see if there have recently been questionable deaths or injuries. Surely if a big project is going on someone or a few got injured during work."

"Great, now be careful and use the signals if there is trouble. If not, then meet up with us at the hotel in six hours." Minato finished the plan.

After a few more hours of traveling they arrived at the destination. Bumping fist with Mira, Kagami broke away alongside the rest. Since each had their own responsibility and job to do.

It took a while, but after investigating around three or so, he managed to come across a few leads. From what he could gather, the prime minister who suddenly appeared around five years ago is up to something in secret. From what he managed to learn from a few doctors, they would treat some who claimed to have worked on a major secret project for the prime minister. However, those same people will vanish and turn up dead not long after.

'So there is something going on, but the question is. Were those that spoke silenced for speaking out about the project or because they knew something they shouldn't.' Kagami thought as he noticed a large communion occurred.

Rushing forward towards the commotion, he noticed a red-haired woman being carried by a blonde teen. The teen in question has an orange jumpsuit with black trimming and a forehead protector. A forehead protector with the Leaf Village.

'Is that Naruto?' Kagami scratched his head. 'Why is he here…wait, wasn't there a movie about him time traveling?'

While he could recall a couple things about it, Kagami decided not to give it much thought. He actually never watched that one so he could only face what was coming blindly. So figuring that his squad members will gather there, Kagami headed in the direction the teen headed.

'I wonder if it is actually time travel or dimensional travel. Sort of reminds me of Future Trunks from Dragon Ball.' Kagami thought as he wondered if he could find the answer from the traveler.
