"Can I... go back to my team?"
Sato's thoughts about Orochimaru were interrupted by a girl's voice.
"Temari? What are you doing here?"
Sato was startled and asked with a weird face. Temari was about to break her fan in anger.
"I have been staying with you since day one, you bastard! Stop forgetting that I exist!"
Hell, Temari didn't mind being treated like a servant; at least that way she would be noticed. But Sato straight-up ignored her existence most of the time.
So infuriating!
"Notice me!"
Temari pulled Sato's collar and shook him a few times. Sato smirked at her reaction.
Pushing her buttons was so easy, Temari's desire for his attention has skyrocketed nowadays. Even if she goes back to the hidden sand, she will crave his attention.
Sato had Temari wrapped around his thumb, and through her he will reach Gaara; it's all coming together.
"Okay, okay, stop shaking me. You can go back to your team; we are almost done."
"Damn, you creased my collar by pulling it so hard."
Sato waved her away, and Temari released his collar with concern. Was the shirt ruined?
*Pat*
*Pat*
She subconsciously fixed his shirt and nodded at the results.
Karui made Temari fold their clothes whenever Sato wasn't paying attention. Karui also gave her other maid-related duties out of spite.
This made Temari adapt to being an actual maid. Karui was pretty brutal with those she didn't like, and knowing that Temari never cared for her brother's painful life made Karui upset.
"Sorry, I'll fix your clothes correctly after I come back."
Temari smiled and ran away to her siblings, making Neji shake his head.
"Does she not remember? She will not come back to us for fun; she'll be a hostage when hidden sand starts their attack."
Neji could tell Temari wanted to come back, but he was clueless as to why Temari was looking forward to coming back.
He was a very dry man, at least in matters of girl's emotions.
"Okay, you slowpokes are finally done; now get in and die—I mean, get in and survive the exams."
At last, Anko announced the beginning of the chunin exams in a creepy way. It was just another tactic to scare the newcomers; Sato didn't bother to care about it.
"Neji, Karui, and Omoi, you three track those guys; one of them was staring at me weirdly. I want you to find out if he's hiding something."
Sato pointed towards the boy who creepily winked at him during the exams; Neji, being the leader, took note of that and agreed.
"Great. I, on the other hand, will follow that girl; I am pretty sure she's Orochimaru."
Sato divided their jobs and mentally decided to follow Orochimaru from a faraway place. He had Hinata with him; he could track Orochimaru from a different city if he wanted to.
'Byakugan is so amazing when used correctly, but nobody uses it to its fullest potential.'
Sato shook his head in disappointment, his group then walked into the forest of death. Orochimaru watched Sato leave and smirked; he too walked in a different direction.
Before meeting Sato, Orochimaru had other stuff to do. He was here on a mission as well, a mission to destroy Konoha.
'Naruto and Sasuke, should I meet them right away, or should I mess around for a bit and beat some people up while Hinata confirms our safety from Orochimaru?'
Sato rubbed his chin then shrugged. Naruto and Sasuke weren't that important to his agenda; they could wait.
"Let's go that way. Me and Haku will start beating people up while Hinata will track Orochimaru."
"Tell me if it's safe to meet him; I don't want any surprises with that guy."
Sato warned Hinata again and she nodded, activating her Byakugan. Hinata focused on the girl Orochimaru was hiding as.
"Who are we targeting, Sato Sama?"
Haku was wondering about this; he was a kind boy by nature, he almost felt bad fighting against these naive genins.
He was a jonin; Sato was the strongest type of kage, as strong as the third Raikage; and Hinata was a special jonin.
It would be a massacre if they fought with their full strength against these greenhorns.
"I was thinking we should start beating anyone we see. Why the long face, Haku? Something on your mind?"
"Let me guess, you don't want to fight weak people because you feel bad for them?"
Sato laughed lightly; he knew Haku's nature very well. Haku would feel bad if they attacked weak genins trying to pass their chunin exams.
"Sorry, Sato Sama."
Haku bowed and apologized; he didn't want to cause trouble for Sato, but this was what he felt like.
Sato laughed again and rubbed his chin in thought.
"It's okay, we can skip the weaklings; it's up to you to find strong people."
"Hinata is our tracker, but I want her full attention on Orochimaru. I cannot stress this enough; we do not want to make a mistake against Orochimaru."
"So go and find some strong people for us Haku; that should be enough for your kind heart."
Haku smiled shyly and flickered away. Sato casually kept walking with Hinata, sniffing the air now and then, trying to remember the scents in the jungle.
It took Haku a total of 10 minutes to come back, and he had good news.
"I found a team, Sato Sama; two of them look weak, but one of them has a tremendous amount of chakra."
"That team definitely has a sensor too; I couldn't get close because of that; I could only see so much. Sorry, Sato Sama."
Haku apologized again, but Sato didn't care. Nudging Hinata along, Sato asked Haku to show them the direction.
'Let's see which team we find; will it be the sound ninja team? I remember there was a strong boy named Dosu on that team; they could have a sensor.'
'Or will it be Rock Lee's team? Maybe Haku sensed Rock Lee, but then again, do they have a sensor? Could it be the guy who replaced Neji?'
'Or is it Gaara's team? That would be embarrassing; beating the three siblings again would be too cruel. Temari might start crying at this rate.'
Sato held his forehead; it was hard thinking of ways to beat people up. Wait, why does that sound so weird?
"There is a strong chakra signature ahead, Sato Kun."
Hinata suddenly warned, and Sato quickly became ready, but he also looked at Hinata seriously.
"Hinata, do not interfere; let us handle his. Don't lose track of Orochimaru while trying to help us."
Hinata nodded immediately and refocused on Orochimaru again. She only lost focus for a few seconds; Orochimaru shouldn't be able to do anything important so quickly.
Meanwhile, Sato and Haku rushed towards the group they had targeted.
"I can smell them—two guys and one girl. One of them is scared, but the other two are releasing a challenging smell."
'I wonder why they stopped running away; maybe the one with a lot of chakra wants to fight us. The scared one is probably the sensor.'
Sato deduced and turned on his lightning-release chakra mode. They were near, and he could basically feel a tremendous amount of chakra blasting towards them.
He wasn't a sensor yet he was feeling this chakra; that's how big it was.
"Who is this? The smell is weird. This chakra beast is coming towards us, but I also smell fear from this position."
"What the hell? Then why come towards us?"
How was this possible, Sato was wondering: if he was smelling right, then it would mean this person was scared of them? Then why come towards them in the first place?
It's not like the remaining weakling teammates can tell someone this strong what to do.
"It makes no sense; who is this?"
Sato frowned and got ready to meet this person. He increased his speed and flashed down.
*Swish*
Suddenly, he saw a flash of red and Sato's eyes shrank. He was shocked; he couldn't believe what he was seeing.
