Chapter 93 - Mission Rank S 18.

[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]

Third Person POV

Fire Country, Year 36.

...

...

Near the coast of the Land of Fire, there were several Konoha camps used for the war happening in the east of the Land of Fire against the Mist Village. United against any attack from the Water Country's ninjas, they had recovered all the territories taken by the Kiri ninjas, and now they were counterattacking with the help of their allies.

In one of these camps with Konoha and Uzumaki clan ninjas, everyone was on high alert for any dispute with the invasion against the Land of Fire. In a specific tent, a ninja dressed in a cloak and mask, looking like an Anbu, approached his lord, Danzou-sama. He greeted the man in front of him, who was looking both attentively and calmly at the same time.

This ninja took a small scroll out of his pocket and handed a paper to the man, who opened it and read. His calm expression turned slightly surprised, as he was unaware of such a mission happening within the Land of Fire.

"Hiruzen should have informed me about something like this..." He couldn't help speaking disdainfully, as he was one of the men who defended Konoha with tooth and nail.

"However... The boy is coming to this camp and it seems he created all this mess by destroying an entire squad of ninjas...?" Danzou murmured and looked at the Anbu. "Tell me more about what happened," he requested.

"Some of our patrols saw the explosions from a distance and went to check, the terrain was chaos, explosions everywhere, but the bodies of the ninjas were taken..." he said.

"That's bad, let's see if he's with the bodies and I will ask him for it," Danzou said and continued. "What was on the ground? What kind of jutsus did the boy use to take down an entire squad?" he asked.

"We can't say for sure, we checked the place as soon as they brought the Damayo, holes tens of meters deep, an S-level jutsu at the least for that, but there was blood scattered around the site, meaning there was hand-to-hand combat..." The Root Anbu spoke.

Danzou, hearing this, was still quite surprised by a boy destroying an entire squad. 'How did he do it? Does he possess such a powerful jutsu?' Danzou had a calculating look, wondering how Minato had done what he did.

Danzou sent his ninjas as soon as the explosions happened and a patrol of his saw it from a distance, he sent a group of ninjas and they returned before Minato arrived with the Uzumakis, due to the delay they were bringing the Damayo's family.

"Anyway... they're coming here, aren't they? I want to see the boy," he said, and the ninja nodded, disappearing shortly thereafter.

As the camp was all abuzz due to the war, the patrol around soon saw Minato, the two Uzumaki ninjas, and the Damayo's family approaching. They let them pass while continuing to head to the center of the camp.

"I hope it doesn't take long," the Damayo immediately complained, not very satisfied with the situation. "I want to leave soon," he spoke as Minato scratched his head, trying to avoid doing something foolish, and the Uzumakis didn't seem to have a good view of this man either. After all, they shouldn't be following orders from this man. They were allies, not subordinates.

When they got close enough to the camp, some ninjas appeared in front of them. The Uzumakis began to explain the situation. After that, they finally went to the camp.

Minato looked closely at a camp that would be used for this war in the east. It was quite large, there must have been at least 2000 ninjas there, and it was not the only camp set up. There were at least 100 Uzumakis by what he noticed with his haki, but the vast majority were Konoha ninjas. The Uzumakis were focusing more on their village. As the village couldn't support many ninjas and even they avoided much contact with people who didn't belong to their clan, they sent only a few squads to support Konoha.

Minato knew he had to wait for Jiraiya, who was still focused elsewhere, but they shouldn't take long to arrive at the site. Some ninjas noticed him, mainly because the Damayo was there. There were also some young genins, some who probably came out with Minato from the academy, but from other rooms below the elite class program.

They took care of things at the camp, running here and there, carrying some supplies, while on the other side of the camp, a large group of medical ninjas was concentrated. This area was where all the sick and injured were placed for recovery and treatment.

"Let's find a place for you to stay..." one of the Uzumaki said, but before he could show a tent to Minato and the Damayo, a Root ninja approached.

"Damayo-sama," he said, kneeling with respect.

"I don't want to keep seeing people calling me and kneeling in front of me. Just do me a favor, get me out of here. I want to go back to my home!" he complained as usual, Minato still hadn't told him that their house had been blown up.

"We heard about the mission, I'm sorry for that," the Jonin continued speaking.

"Feeling sorry didn't stop me from being kidnapped..." Damayo mocked with a rather arrogant air. "You better improve my family's security, otherwise, I will cut Konoha's funding," he snarled and pointed at Minato. "I also want this boy with me from today, at least he will be better than those incompetents..." he spoke to Minato, who didn't know what to respond and was even surprised by this.

"We will review this later, Damayo. There is a place for you and your family to rest," he said, and the Root man looked at Minato. "Anyway, Danzou-sama wants to speak with you," the Anbu spoke.

Minato narrowed his eyes; one of the last people he wanted to be alone with was someone like Danzou, but with no choice, he nodded and followed the man to a part of the camp.

While the Damayo was taken to his tent, Minato was brought to the command tent, guarded by at least six Root Anbu.

He entered and there was a man whose both eyes were visible, and he didn't use a cane, as Danzou hadn't lost his eye and arm yet, but certainly had a rather greedy look.

He was just as Minato had imagined from the original work, minus his injuries. It was the first time he had met this man. If he was like in the original work, he would have to get rid of him as soon as he could.

As soon as he entered, he stood face to face with him, alone. The man assessed him carefully, from top to bottom. "I've heard great things about you, boy," he started. "I heard that you defeated the Kiri squad in the Leaf Village trying to create chaos in the village. I heard about your performance in the bell test that Jiraiya did, and about the explosions a few hours ago, and that you defeated an entire group of ninjas from the Stone and Sand." He spoke, waiting for Minato's responses along with his secrets, after all, this boy was nothing common with his history and Danzou was quite interested in him. "Can you tell me how you did it?" he asked attentively.

"Thank you," Minato sighed, thinking about what kind of response he could give, but ended up revealing something that only he could do, which was the Rasenshuriken. "I developed an S-rank jutsu, but it's still not complete," he said.

"An S-rank jutsu?" Danzou seemed quite interested in that, thinking about what his men reported to him. "I would very much like to see this jutsu later," he spoke with some tone of greed. But Minato knew he would never learn this jutsu, even though he was an expert in wind element, he had never learned the rasengan and Minato didn't believe he hadn't tried at some point...

Danzou looked at him again. "Do you have the bodies of the Jonin you defeated in the forest? I would like to have them," he asked.

"I ended up putting them in one of Jiraiya's toads..." he lied, after all, he didn't want to hand over the bodies to Danzou.

"I see... Anyway," Danzou spoke not liking that, but continued. "Tell me, boy, you have shown to have astronomical potential. Would you, by any chance, like to join something that benefits you both now and your future? I'm setting up an organization called Root. Let's say the Hokage didn't let you join when I called. But I believe this place would be the best for you to develop and become someone great under my wings," he spoke, and Minato frowned at that. After all, this organization in the future would commit all kinds of atrocities.

"Thank you, Danzou-sama," Minato spoke respectfully, for he could not afford to be disrespectful to a village elder, even if he disliked the man. "But I am currently under the tutelage of Jiraiya-Sensei, and I do not plan on having another mentor," Minato stated sincerely. Danzou looked on for a while, clearly displeased with the boy's response.

"I'll let you think about it. After all, there are many benefits to Root that could help you. I would like you to think it over," he insisted, and Minato just felt, "Well, you may go now," he said, and Minato began to leave the tent.

Minato finally stepped out of the tent and sighed, thinking about how he had finally escaped from that man... 'My haki was screaming to get away from that man... He wore a cloak of negativity...' He couldn't help but think about Danzou's negative aura.

He looked back at the camp where people were bustling about, doing their usual tasks. A group of Genin approached him. "Are you Minato Namikaze?" they asked, and Minato looked at them a bit surprised and nodded. "Yes," he answered.

"We heard that you're the best of your generation and everyone's talking about how you went on a mission to save the Damayo from the Land of Fire. Is that really true?" they asked, and Minato just nodded his head. "Incredible!" they exclaimed. It seemed that Minato had already gained a sort of fan club among the young genins.

Minato wasn't sure what to respond, so he just nodded while scratching his head. "Tell me, Minato-san, how can I be like you?" another student asked, a desire to achieve great things shining in their eyes.

"Tell me... do you have a girlfriend?" a girl spoke, and Minato didn't know how to respond with a child asking him that.

Minato was about to respond, but then a Jonin appeared. "Hey, you kids, get back to work, there's a lot to carry!" the Jonin complained, and the Genin went back to their tasks just glancing at Minato without their questions answered.

The Jonin watched the group of Genin walk away and turned back to Minato, "You can rest, kid. I've heard about your mission. You reported that your sensei is nearby and might arrive at any moment, so you can wait at the tent we've provided for you," he said, and Minato nodded.

Since Minato was not a regular part of the camp, the Jonin spoke again. "You can do as you please here, as long as you don't disturb the camp while waiting for your sensei," he said, and Minato, feeling relieved, headed to a tent that had been assigned to him.

He simply entered, it was a rather simple place, he went to the bed and finally threw himself on it, resting a bit. He could have used the jutsu to disappear from there, but he couldn't do that after everything that had happened. He would have to take the Damayo back home, and he wanted to rest a bit after all the fighting that happened that night, he had used a lot of chakra and had to opt to use his stamina for the pika pika no mi.

Then he simply closed his eyes and let the darkness take over him while his haki remained as his main sense to ward off anything that might happen there while he slept.
