Episode 22: Doubt And Fear

Episode 22: Doubt And Fear

Kilr and his group followed the map to the location of the zombie that killed him. As they crossed down the blood stained halls Kilr's palms got sweaty. His heart thumped against his rib cage from the fear.

How long had it been?

A day?

Yes! It had been over a day since the first scenario started. Over a day since he died! He still could not believe he had reached this far in just a day, they were still clueless as to what the scenario was or why it existed. They did not even know how a system like a game interface existed.

Kilr would not be surprised if he woke up to realize it was all a dream. But wasn't the dream too long then? And again, didn't you wake up after dying in your dream?

Kilr smiled at his own imagination.

He remembered Nerissa his sister always saying his imagination was his biggest strength but his dad always said it was his greatest flaw. But what did he really believe?

Kilr touched his cheek and pulled back his wet hands.

What did he believe in? Kilr was someone who had been used to being maltreated occasionally, thought it was not physical but mental and emotional. His stepmom treated him and his sister like s**t when his father wasn't around, which was quite often. His little sister was stronger than him emotional but Kilr…

Kilr sniffed back the tears!

Kilr had grown not to trust others and that left him with a hole in his heart. He hated friend groups, they always talked about girls or sports. Kilr didn't even like soccer but all boys were supposed to like soccer, but he wasn't all boy either.

Kilr also didn't like girls either.

Whenever the other boys were out for sport he would still be in a class filled with girls. They didn't bother him in anyway in his quiet little corner but… they gossiped a lot. That's how he came to know stuff he shouldn't even be knowing.

But why was he like this?

He loved games because they were fun!

He loved his imagination because he was free!

He even wrote a novel once but slacker off at the middle of writing it.

JRR Tolkien once stated that "Fantasy was escapist!"

Kilr Rombot's mind was the most imaginative mind in all on Rising Star Academy. In a situation where the apocalypse broke out and others would run and panick. Kilr Rombot would welcome it with open arms and embrace it like a fantasy work come to life!!

Kilr came to a sudden halt.

Duke said gruffly. "What? Don't tell me you're scared!"

Chaz looked over at Kilr with a puppy like expression on his face.

Kilr stared at the stains of dry blood at the corner of the wall and on the floor and said in an empty tone. "This is where I died!" He could almost imagine it, how pitiful he looked back then.

Duke looked at Kilr from the corner of his eye and asked. "Dude, what do you mean you died?"

Kilr walked forward and over the spot where he had died and swallowed down hard. "I'm stronger now!" He reassured himself.

Kilr walked past the janitors closet where they had shut him out to be killed by the zombie, he still remembered he had vowed to have his revenge on them too. Kilr stopped again before the class where he used to have his lessons.

He looked through the glass and over to his seat and thought to himself.

"That was where it began!"

There were still zombies roaming around in the class.

Chaz came sheepishly from behind him and said in a low tone.

"A-- are you alright?"

Duke kicked Chaz in the side and boomed. "Who told you to talk you damn shuttle boy? Seems like me that you need a beating!" He kicked him repeatedly but Kilr showed no interest in that. He wasn't one to care it the weak got bullied by the strong, because of his status he had never been bullied with so there was no way he could tell his it felt.

Also Kilr Rombot hated heroes!!

"I wonder if the principal is still alive?" He said to the wind as he continued down the halls where organs stuck out of the lockers. A day had passed now and it was all stinking. Flies buzzed around, they had to cover their noses and run down the hall to get away from the stench.

"Puah!" Kilr gasped for air as he reached the end of the hall and froze remembering where he was.

It was where he was leaning over with Amber Bread and staring at the very zombie that killed him. Doubt and fear immediately swam into his heart and he contemplated on whether he wanted to carry on with it or not. He wasn't the type of guy to even want to finish what he started but the system appeared before him and did the strangest thing.

-----------------

<Candidate "Kilr Rombot" to fully unlock the system you have overcome death>

<Please proceed>

--------------------

Kilr pondered.

"So is the reward the fully unlocked system? Is any of this worth it? Why do we even need the system? We were fine before all this bull crap!"

Something that caught his kind was the "Please" on the last message. The system had never used any word politely before but what was this?

Kilr pressed forward to the gym room not because he wanted to, not because he had to! But because he needed a reason to! He believed that if he faced the very thing that caused his death he would recieve a reason on why he needed to face it in the beginning.

Duke looked over to Kilr and smiled inwardly.

"Don't know what got you troubled but I just hope you can do most of the work! And when that's done, I'll kill you and the zombie at the same time. And even claim a double kill or something! Serves you right for looking down on me!"

Kilr Rombot reached for the door handle and gripped it as tight as he could. "This is it!" He reassured himself. "This is it!"

His eyes flashed a dark glow as he pressed forward.

"This is it!"
