5: Pokémode (Part Two)

As far as caves go, these ones doesn't look any different. Dull colours in various shades of browns and grey caked the walls. Gravel shifts beneath our feet. If it wasn't for one of Misty's Pokémon who could use the ability flash, I wouldn't have been able to see the path ahead any other way. One random turn after the other, left us standing at the millionth dead end. Ash clearly has no sense of direction. Fair enough, this cave is a life size maze. After some more backtracking, we turn into another corner. It seems like we've been going around in endless circles, just to end up at yet another dead end. How many of these could this cave been blessed with? After long last, we reached a glistering stream. "Labras, I choose you. Let's see if we can find the legendary Pokémon if we go by the flow of water," Ash told his buddy. We all climbed upon her back and she delivered. Taking us up stream and down stream. Eventually, we reached a clearing where a strange pink Pokémon stood. "Are you the rare Pokémon that rumour speaks about?" I asked the Pokémon specie that's standing in front of me. "That I am," the rare specimen said in a sing-song tone as it inched closer. He scanned me with his eyes, as if he's trying to read my intensions. May they be good or not. There's no denial that this strange creature is indeed reading me like a book of some sort, ironic to say the least. "I will help you, but only if you can beat me to a Pokémon battle." His request caught me by surprise. I have no idea if my team is even strong enough to beat him in battle. The aura he gives off sings about an unimaginable power that lays within him, but he's knows that I know that. I must be crazy for considering it, but I have to give it a try. It's my only way out of this world (in which I've been trapped for far too long as it is). I took my stance and nodded at my opponent. "Ponyta, let's start this of with an Ember," I said as I threw his ball into the air. The rare creature dodged his attack and lanced a bright purple light at us. Direct hit. Brock took it upon himself as to act like the referee. "Ponyta is out, the first round goes to her opponent," Brock stated his victory. It's just a little setback; I can still win, hopefully. One out, five more to go. "Floette, you're up," I sent my second daring into battle. "Darling, use Lucky Charm," I told her. He mimicked her move. I do not like my odds. This Pokémon is too smart for his own goods. Fairywind's accuracy is a 100%, it won't do much damage but it can't miss. Seeing how her critical status had been enhanced once, the fairy attack would do a little more damage. "Floette, use Fairywind," I demanded after adding up my options. Yet again my opponent mimicked and just like that another one bites the dust. "Come back Floette, take a good long rest. You did great, thank you," I said to the ball at hand, before throwing my next partner into battle. "Ninetales, come on out!" I turned to my next escape. "Use Sunny day and then fire blast," I barked at my nine tale fox. She managed to burn him but it didn't hold for to long as he threw a berry down his throat and used another psybeam attack. "Arcanine, help me out!" At this rate I'll be trapped within this world for years to come. Panic washed over me at the mere thought of never seeing Grey again. "Use Flame thrower!" I exclaimed. He dodged. That's not fair! Stand still and let me beat you. The familiar purple spiral beamed our way, but Arcanine weakly stood his ground. "Earthquake!" I bellowed. The ground beneath my feet started shaking. Unfortunately the impact was so severe that he fainted. At least he did well of his time. "Good job buddy, take a well deserved rest. Aromatisse, let's do this!" I said as I throw my fifth ball into the air. She emerged and used Thunder as I asked her to. Glad to see that it had hit its target head on. He used mimic, but Aromatisse dodged it successfully. "Use psybeam," I told her. Another attack landed on my part. The rare creature also used Psybeam and mimicked Armoatisse's Psychic attack which throws her out of bounds. I have only one Pokémon left and the legendary doesn't seems to be affected much, after going through five trained Pokémon. I could just as well forfeit the match, train my Pokémon to their maximum capacity and come back for a rematch. "Sylveon, it's all up to you," I informed her as I let her out of her ball. "Use Magical leaf," I asked of her. He couldn't dodge them all, that's one point to us. Another Psybeam flared our way but Sylveon's agility made it possible to successfully dodge his attack. "Sylveon, use Swift," I continued. It was a critical hit on both sides, seeing how our opponent used mimic at the very last minute. The both of them still standing strong. "Now, use Draining Kiss," she obeyed. It cut his remaining HP by halve. I'm afraid that he might use another Mimic, but instead nother round of Psybeam hit her straight on. Sylveon looks weak; one more attack would be her demise. Leaving the legendary Pokémon to gloat with victory.

As I was about to bellow my final attack move, a flash of pink light flew into view. Blocking off Sylveon's way. The strange yet majestic creature turned its attention towards me and my Pokémon partner. It mysteriously transformed into a Sylveon. I always thought only Ditto had that ability, guess I was wrong. Sylveon took her place beside it and as one they lanced an attack at the opponent, taking a double take on Moonblast. Our opponent sunk to his knees. "Recover," it said and stood up. All this time he could use a self healing move? "I didn't think that it was fair, all things considered. They adore you and even if you haven't won human, I would have still helped you. Seeing how good you and your Pokémon worked together. The name is Mewtwo and a promise is a promise," he informed me. Finally I can put a name to the rare species face. "It's time. Best to say your goodbye now," he suggested. I turned my attention towards my three newest companions and greeted them one by one. Ending with Ash and Pikachu. Sylveon, Aromatisse and Floette. Ninetales, Ponyta and Arcanine; thank you for being my friends. I will never forget you, I thought to myself. Mewtwo nodded as he placed his hands together, palms pushed up against each other. "Farewell human, until we meet again," he said. I watched as everything around me vanishes into thin air as a multi coloured whirlpool swallowed me in.
