Chapter 13: The Past

9 years ago and 5 months passed since the Zombie Outbreak.

*****

"Guys!" Everyone jolted awake at Dahlia's sudden shout.

"Zombies?!" Bob exclaimed, fear and confusion evident in his voice.

"Dahlia?" Dykon called out.

"Dahlia! You scared us!" Danica added realizing that there's no zombies.

"I thought it was the end for us, huhuu. " Abegail sobbed.

"There's nothing here," Dylan said skeptically, looking out the window as Dykon peeked to see the sun shining brightly.

"Why did you shout, sis?" Jerry and Kho asked.

"Dahlia?" Pwat inquired.

Dahlia, tears streaming down her face, opened the door to the room where Ajena had slept.

"Where's Ajena?!" Dylan exclaimed anxiously, searching the entire room and even the kitchen without finding her.

"The baby zombie is missing too!" Alas added.

Panic ensued as they couldn't find Ajena, until Kho and Jerry spotted a note.

"Come here!" Jerry called them over, and Dahlia collapsed while Dylan wept silently.

Fear gripped their hearts upon finding a note covered in dark blood that was barely legible.

"Dykon, take care of them. I can't protect you anymore. The virus is spreading in my body. I don't want to risk your safety, so I'm leaving. I'll take Baby Zomma with me. Forgive me, Dylan, I didn't want this, but it's necessary for your safety. Take good care of Jerry, Kho, and Dahlia. Thank you for everything," the note read.

Dahlia cried as she hugged the two children.

"What will happen to us now? We're all going to die," Dahlia sobbed, leaving the others stunned and unsure what to do. Dykon hugged Dylan tightly, crying and wanting to find Ajena.

( Kho's POV )

" What's going to happen to us now? Sister Dahlia won't stop crying," I held Jerry's arm, thinking of a plan. I pulled him into the kitchen.

"Kho, wasn't there another man with us earlier? " Jerry asked, frowning.

"He escaped; they didn't notice because Sister Ajena was gone," I replied.

"Really? Wasn't he the one who knew where the Warehouse was?" Jerry asked.

"I remember the way, Meno is the man's name. He had companions with him, so he left our group," I explained.

"That's better than getting us into trouble," Jerry agreed.

"Let's get the map done before I forget," I said.

Jerry and I got up from the table, and he pulled out waterproof paper from his bag. I looked over to where Dylan was searching for items; we couldn't stay here long. I started drawing the directions Meno had given us before he left.

I looked at Jerry, who was checking a gun.

"How many bullets are left?" I asked Jerry.

"We need to find something to use, guns are too loud," Jerry replied.

"We'll do it," I said and finished the map. I showed it to Jerry.

"I marked in blue where we are now and in red where we're heading,"

"We're close, but we'll pass by public places, so there are likely many zombies there," Jerry said worriedly.

"What are you two doing?" Mr. Alas frowned.

"These are the directions Meno gave us to the Warehouse; I've drawn them," I replied.

"Wait! Where's Meno, by the way?" Brother Bob asked.

"He left when we were attacked," Jerry answered.

"What? We didn't even notice?" We nodded.

"Jerry, what is that for?" Sister Dahlia asked as they approached us and explained where we were going. We started moving, gathering hidden food and items and we saw a attic.

"Guys, there's an attic here," we told Sister Abegail and Brother Mew.

"I'll go up," Brother Map said, joined by Brother Dykon.

While Sister Abegail waited for them to check on the attic, I noticed Sister Lister talking to Brother Bob and seemed to be arguing. I was shocked when Sister Lister opened the door in slow motion and Zombies entering.

"Go up quickly!" I shouted and pushed Jerry. "Go up to the attic!" Brother Bob yelled.

"Bob!" Brother Alas shouted at Brother Bob that is blocking the door.

Sister Lister laughed uncontrollably, holding her head, completely lost in herself.

"Hurry up! Dylan!" Brother Dykon shouted and pulled Dylan up. Brother Alas lifted me up, and I noticed he was crying too.

"Argh! Hurry up! I can't handle this anymore!" Bob cried.

"Faster!" Jerry pulled me up. Sister Danica remained, smiling.

"I can't leave Lister," she said tearfully.

"Danica! What are you doing?! Hurry, reach for my hand!" Sister Abegail cried, but Sister Danica just shook her head and pushed the stairs up.

"Danica!" Sister Dahlia shouted. I looked at Brother Alas and then at Brother Bob, who gave a thumbs-up to Brother Alas, smiling but crying. Brothers Map pulled Brother Alas back.

Thugshh!

Brother Dykon broke the window in the attic. I felt dizzy, Jerry shook me, but I stared at Brother Bob, who was overwhelmed by zombies. Even Sister Lister was attacked. Sister Danica screamed and hugged Sister Lister, who quickly turned into a zombie and bite Sister Danica.

"Close it! Quickly!" Brother Mew said.

" I don't want to die here," Sister Dahlia cried as the attic closed.

We heard the noise of zombies. Sister Abegail trembled, crying.

"Wait! Where's Pwat?! He's still down there! " Sister Abegail suddenly shouted.

"He's safe!" Brother Dykon shouted, pointing outside the window. We came out of the window and now in the house top.

"Guys!" Brother Pwat waved that is outside standing from the top of a car.

"Pwat!" Sister Abegail cried.

(Pwat's POV)

I was rummaging through cabinets in the kitchen when I accidentally moved something and was surprised to find a box of bullets. I smiled and quickly grabbed my bag and put everything in it. I searched other cabinets for food.

"Guys, there's an attic here," I heard someone shout, but I focused on this first. I packed canned foods. Oh no! Only one Coke left?! Sorry, guys, I'll take this. I drank half of it when someone shouted.

I dropped the Coke when I saw zombies blocked by Bob. I fell from my seat. Why did Lister do that? I was about to help Danica when the glass broke, and one zombie jumped at me.

"Shit!"

"Grr! GRRR!"

I panicked, especially hearing Abegail crying.

"B-Bob!" I shouted when i saw Bob blocking the door keeping the zombies out. Then I kicked the zombie before i could help him, The door broke and Zombies ate them! What do I do?! What do I do?!

"Grrr! Grrr!"

I had no choice but to break another window and jump out. I ran and ran, but there were so many zombies. I thought about climbing on top of the car. I gasped for breath and lay down, pulling my hair. I didn't even help Bob! I'm useless!

I heard a crash and stood up to look back at the house. I saw Dykon on the roof, waving, and breathed a sigh of relief, safe.

"GUYS!" I shouted to them.

"Get out of there, Pwat!" Mew shouted. I held onto the car as it moved because of the zombies. Wait! I've only been here for a moment!

"You didn't even let me rest! Damn it! Why the hell this zombies are so aggresive?!" I shouted and jumped to another car roof.
