"Keep running until there is no place for you to run to!" A boy yelled followed by a burst of laughter. He kept taking some careful steps as he followed a pale-looking boy who was running towards the back of a school library.
The pale boy kept running until he reached the end of the place which was blocked by a tall wall. He gasped seeing the situation he had landed himself in.
"Well, well, well, there is no place for you to run to, Max," the boy said as he appeared before the pale boy who had a frightened look on his face. "Can't you run? Fool! Keep running and I'll keep coming after you."
"James! Fucking leave me alone, what the hell did I do to you?" Max asked, his face was squeezed in a frown yet he looked frightened.
"What did you do to me? Tsk, that's some stupid question you've got there bro! But I'll tell you. . . you being my stepbrother makes me sick! You are nothing but a weak useless thing, a disgrace to the family and a thorn in my flesh. Do you understand now?"James yelled with disgust in his eyes.
Max hearing what James said clenched his fists, " That I was born without an ability unlike you, how's that my fault? That I am an illegitimate child, how's that my fault! You know how much I try to become like you, yet you blame me, why?" Tears began to fall from his eyes as he spoke.
Everyone in Neptune city knows that he was born to the slave woman of the Silver household. Her mother was a slave woman to the first son — Matthew Silver, she was born a pretty woman who was endowed with a perfect body, the only problem was that she was born a slave.
It was on one fateful night that Matthew Silver came home drunk and unfortunately for her, she was asked to serve him. Things went bad when he attacked her from behind and forced himself on her. It was later found that she was pregnant with his child, at first, they wanted to send her away with the pregnancy but the Silver elder — their father had ordered that the baby will be delivered in the house but she will have to leave to never come back.
Matthew Silver having no choice, did as he was ordered by his father and kept the child. The child grew up having no ability unlike other kids who awakened theirs from birth and this made him become hated by everyone around him. This was how news about his birth became known by the entire city.
"Being alive is your damn fault! You shouldn't be alive because you'll forever stay useless. See, no one loves you, not even your so-called mother because if she does, you wouldn't be here suffering!"
"You don't have to mention my mother before me!" Max said. His mother was one of the people he has grown to hate. since began to grow up, his mother never showed up, not even once. In his darkest moment, he wished to be in his mother's arms but she was nowhere to be found.
James hearing what Max said threw out a laugh, he laughed so hard until tears began to form in his eyes. You both are destined to be apart, tsk! A useless mother and a useless son, haha!"
"You can insult me for all I care but do not insult her! The fact that I don't like her isn't enough reason for me to watch you insult her."
"And what will you do? Fight me? Best me? You can try, I'll keep saying it, your mother is a stupid woman who seduced my father!"
"You!" Max yelled, his eyes burning with anger. He picked up a stone by his side and aimed it at James' head.
James yelled as the stone hit him, "You fucking dared to stone at me?" He yelled in anger, "I'll deal with you!"
As James yelled, he opened his palms and two balls of light appeared on them. He shot the two balls of light at Max who was slow to dodge the attack.
He flew up into the air and with a loud yell, he was sent slamming into the wall. He fell to the ground and was covered in the debris but that was not all for him.
James started approaching him with another ball of light, larger than the first ones he made. A smirk forged on his lips as he gazed at the poor Max and then in a mocking voice he spoke, "Since you want to so much die, I'll grant you the wish!" He shot the large ball of light at him, hitting him right on his chest.
Max yelled and coughed out a mouthful of blood, he fell face down to the ground and couldn't move again. "D-do y-you w-want to k-kill me?" He forced out a question, earning a chuckle from James.
"Dear brother, this is the best way to end your suffering here. It's best you die and stop yourself from being hated by everyone around you!"
"V-very well then, you can kill me if you want," Max weakly replied.
James scoffed and raised his hand, the large ball of light formed again and he was ready to shoot at Max when suddenly, he received a call. Seeing the caller, he sighed and dispelled his ball of light before walking away immediately.
"I can't hold it any longer," Max muttered as he tried to get up. He was extremely weak, unable to stand. Life was slowly leaving him, he couldn't feel his body any longer. James had so much dealt with him, leaving deep wounds on his body, he looked at the wounds, blood was rushing out from there. "If this is the end for me, I'll gladly die!" He said lastly as his eyes began to close.
When he thought that was the end for him, a light suddenly engulfed him making him start sweating profusely, he looked ahead of him and from there he could see the form of a person.
"I am here to help you, are you willing to accept the great demon system?" The person asked.
Max tried to speak but before he could say a word, he fell unconscious.
