Chapter Three Hundred and Ninety-Six

The wedding is in two weeks and am very happy for many reasons about this wedding, one of them is that I will be able to marry the man I love so much and also May's issue is now in the past. Aunty Rose told me that her father sent her to a remote area so that she can have a rethink of her life which in my opinion is the best thing a parent could do to save their child. With May out of the way, am fully focused on the wedding. I want my best friend to be beside me at this time but Sarah is busy with her new position as the President of Vincent Corporation and she is also pregnant, I don't want to be the reason she is stressed out. Is not like her mother-in-law is going to allow anyone to stress Sarah, that woman protects Sarah like she is her daughter and that is how I wish that Max's mother will treat me when I eventually marry her son.

I came back from my father's company, he has been disturbing me for some time now to come and start working in his company, that way I will be able to take care of his company when he will step down. I want to continue my father's legacy cause I know how hard he worked to achieve that and the reason I was not working in his company but somewhere else is because I was rebelling and still mad at him for his negligence of my mother and me. But now he has turned into the father I always wish for, am going to do anything to make sure that his hard work will not go down the drain. So far the work in his company is not that overwhelming and I will like to take care of his numerous restaurant mostly, just like him I like cooking and seeing to it that people are well fed. I came back from work and my father is not back I guess or maybe he is in his study, cause today I visited one of his restaurants in another branch.

I was about to go to my room when one of the help approached me. Good evening Miss, she greeted. Soon it will be Mrs, I said to her smiling. Yeah, we all can't wait for that glorious day, she said returning the smile. Your father said that you should come to his study once you are done with your dinner, she informed me and left after I nodded my head. Am contemplating whether to go upstairs to my room, freshen up and come down, have my dinner before going to see my father or I should go and see him immediately and I will do the rest after seeing him. The latter is more appalling, so I turned back and walked towards his study, I knocked and he asked me to come in, I walked in and he looked up at stared at me. I was about to greet him when he started talking, halting my greeting. I thought I instructed the help to tell you to have your dinner first before coming but from the way you dressed, I can tell that you have not eaten, he said.

Dad, don't blame the help, am the one that decided to come here first, I explained to him. Okay, if you say so, how was your day? He asked me. My day was stressful but it was worth the stress, am happy with this new experience, I told him. I am sorry for the stress but I must confess, I like the spirit, he said while smiling at me, I can tell that he is proud of me. I don't want to believe that you called me to your study just to ask me about my day, I teased him. You are right, that is not the only reason why I called you, he confirmed. Okay, what is the other reason? I inquired. I need your opinion or rather your advice or guidance whichever one you will call it, he said. I can tell that he is finding it difficult to say whatever it is that he wants to tell me, which makes me wonder what that could be. Okay am all ears, tell me what you need my assistant for, I urged him to tell me. I should be giving you advice on these things but here it goes, I want to propose to Laura and I need your help, He said looking all embarrassed.

I wanted to laugh at him, cause he is looking all flustered but I decided against it, I know that am going to make things worst. What exactly do you need my help on? Don't tell me that you want me to be the one to propose to her, I asked him cause I have seen that in videos where the man child is the one that popped the question but is an adult, those scenarios are meant for kids. No, I want your help in the preparation, like the venue, the flowers and also assist me in buying the ring, he explained. Dad, are you trying to copy my style of the proposal? I asked him. He looks more embarrassed than ever. Jezz, Dad you don't need to be embarrassed, I was just kidding and I don't see anything wrong if you decide to do it the way I did mine, what matters at the end of the day is for you to get a positive answer at the end of the day, I told him. Okay, we will be going to buy the ring tomorrow, hope is not disturbing your schedule? He asked. Not at all, when do you intend to propose to her? I asked him.

After your wedding I will propose and talk about the wedding, how is the preparation coming along? He asked. This has become his daily question and I always have one answer for him, I don't bother myself going into details cause at the end of the day he will not understand it. It's great, everything is going according to plan, I answered him as usual. That's great, you can go now and freshen up and have your dinner, he said to me. I bade him goodnight and left his study and headed to my room.
