"You kept all these away from me," Carl said, looking directly into Jude's eyes from where he was standing.
They were in Festus' living space, a convenient place for them to talk things out.
"You had already risked your life looking for me and you also had to compensate the families of those soldiers who died out there," Jude said, getting up from where he was sitting. "I didn't want to involve you in my problems, I don't want you to get hurt because of me."
"Yeah, and when have I complained about getting hurt while helping you, after everything you did for me at the academy, I would do anything to help you no matter what," Carl said. "I thought you knew me better by now."
Jude didn't say anything as he stared at his best friend, Festus didn't want to get involved at least not now as he was grabbing himself a drink in his kitchen.
"You're right Carl, I should have at least told you but…."
"But what?" Carl asked.
