Unexpected visitors

She cleared her throat and spoke, "I'm sorry, I cannot fulfill your request."

"Why not?" he ask. Still slouched on the ground, he replies with disappointment as he continues to look at Mo Hai through those golden eyes that are now glowing with disappointment.

"Because..." Mo Hai said after pausing to consider his response. She is uncertain.

"Because what?" he scowled.

"I don't want to," she replied.

His eyes enlarged a little and he blinked twice.

Suddenly realizing that this is strange and that he should get up off the ground, Zou Guanting, who was going to say anything, regretted making the request because he could just go look for food.

He wanted to smack his own head into a tree trunk for asking such a stupid question; he should have known better! She must now consider him weird.

Now he understands what people mean when they say that falling deeply in love will render you hopeless. Love will transform you into a lovesick fool who is dumb and naive.

He wanted to cry but instead got up, felt ashamed, and grabbed a pile of leaves to cover himself in the hopes that she wouldn't see he was as naked as a newborn hippopotamus.

Mo Hai then stops talking and just awkwardly waits till they both hear something approaching because they had run into those boars before they started to run.

"Halt!" A yell was heard, and the two turned to see a woman with a spider-like lower half of her body and centipede-like legs. It was extremely horrifying to see, and the creature started shouting the word "halt" again.

It's a demon, and they steal men's souls to feed on and consume their organs to become stronger. They use their voice to entice victims, but they can only speak one word to them, depending on how many words they are familiar with.

He is aware of this because one of the tribe's elders claimed to have come across such a creature.

He's just glad it's not repeating the word "help" since that would have been more alarming.

Zou Guanting and his companion, the soldier, stood frozen at the sight of the demon and her army of spiders and centipedes. The beastman knew he had to act fast, so he transformed into his beast form and darted toward the demon.

The battle was quick and intense, with Zou Guanting using his powerful claws to swipe at the enemy and his companion using her dagger to strike from a distance. The demon was quick and agile, evading their attacks while commanding her army of creatures to attack the duo.

Zou Guanting let out a fierce roar and pounced on the demon, knocking her to the ground. His companion took the opportunity to strike with her dagger, cutting off one of the demon's legs. But the battle was far from over. The demon let out a deafening screech, summoning even more creatures from her body to fight.

The soldier fought valiantly, slashing and stabbing at the spiders and centipedes, but there were too many. Zou Guanting realized that they needed to take out the demon quickly to stop the reinforcements.
