New teammate

"Come on!! Where's our new teammate already??!! It's been two weeks and we still don't know who he or she is!!," Jason whined after his group finished a training session on a hot Wednesday afternoon.

The team took a break and were relaxing on a red bridge bordering the Shinku Temple and the Pardour Square.

"I hate the fact that Jason whines a lot, but he's right Sensei. We don't who our partner is and what's worse, we got attacked recently. We need the numbers," Maki said, adjusting her glasses as usual.

Dante, who was slouching on the bridge deck, admiring the view of the river below the bridge, then postured himself and said to the kids, "My bad. I forgot to tell you about that."

"He's right over there", he said as he pointed behind them to a huge cliff where a tall young boy with white spiky hair, hazel-colored eyes and wearing a black shirt with brown shorts apparently made from boar fur.

"Hello there. It's nice to meet you all!!", he said and suddenly vanished.

Where did he go??", Jason and Maki wondered as they were looking for him and the boy reappeared behind Jason who reacted out of fright.

"Ahhhh!!", he exclaimed and instinctively did a roundhouse towards the boy which he grabbed effortlessly.

"You have quite excellent skills but you seem to lack experience and knowledge in combat," he said as he still held Jason's leg, which Jason really did not appreciate.

"I don't know who are or what you are, but let go of my leg now!!", Jason shouted to the boy who then released his leg, making him fall in the process.

"Owww! Watch it, jerk!!", he exclaimed as he fell face flat onto and got up to confront the new rookie.

"Relax. you're smart but you act very rashly in combat and that can cost you and everyone else here a lot," the young boy said with no sense of emotion.

Dante had to step in and separate the two boys from any further arguments.

"Be nice, you two!! We're a team do you guys have to work together from here on out," he said as he placed order in their meeting.

Jason, Maki and their teammate then proceeded to sit down and facing Dante.

He later sat in front of the three children and said, "Now then!! Let's introduce each other as orderly as possible. I'll go first."

He continued, "I'm Dante and I'm your Sensei for the rest of your life as a Knight prospect. I only have only one advice for you all: don't think I'll take it easy on you lot because I know the potential you have so I'll push you all to exceed your limits!!"

Maki then took over Dante's place and started introducing herself.

"Hi!! I'm Maki Kyosuke. I'm a Knight Academy prospect and I really hope I work with you all and my goal is to become a member of the Imperial Knights."

Jason then stood up and started, "I'm Jason Howler, and my goal is to become the most powerful Knight ever!!"

After Jason was done, the other boy got up and said, "As you all know, I'm Vincent and I'm your new teammate and my goal is to be a Hunter."

Jason then got up, looked up at Vincent and said, "Wait a minute. You're the Vampire Emperor's son??!! You look nothing like little kid I saved some weeks ago!!"

Vincent then explained, "We vampires are known to live for centuries but there's a catch: every 250 years, our bodies age quicker than most creatures. Basically, I'm actually 250 years old, but to the average person, I look like a 12 year-old human."

But the only response he got were mouths left wide open by Jason and Maki, dumbfounded by the information they just received, which left Vincent a bit confused and embarrassed.

Dante was actually as surprised as his other students, but he was able to compose himself to continue their first team meeting.

He clapped his hands and said enthusiastically, "Ok, now that you guys know each other, I'm officially announcing that Team Peregrine has been assembled!!"
