Modern Family: Genius

Gabriel is 5 years old. After he was born he was raised in an orphanage. He is what you would call a genius. On a fateful day when he was 5 years old, he started to see memories of another person. He saw them like it was a movie. He saw many things. Gabriel realized that these memories were probably from his past life. Through these memories, Gabriel realized how terribly he was treated in the orphanage. He ran away. Gabriel saw an abandoned house and lived there for a night. After waking up the next day he suddenly met the neighbors of this house Phil and Claire Dunphy, whom he realized were in the memories of his past life. Phil and Claire were worried after seeing how he lived and decided to adopt him. The young boy would slowly start to trust people again in the future thanks to his parents. The description isn't good. I know that. I racked my brain but couldn't find anything better. The world will be a mix of various different TV shows and movies. The MC will be a genius. Yes, I know it is incredibly hard to portray a genius character not being as smart as him, but I will try my best to narrow the gap with the help of the internet. Due to that, my updates will probably take longer than on my other novels as I need more time to research.

Persuading Grandpa

"Mom, please drive me to Grandpa," I asked my mom again and again. A week ago, I created my AI.

I pestered my mom repeatedly.

"Okay. Okay. Stop, Gabriel. I will drive you to him today. He should be at home. It's Sunday," Mom finally agreed!

"Thanks, Mom."

YES! YES! YES! I screamed excitedly in my mind.

I couldn't wait to go to Grandpa and ask him to help me.

I wanted to start my research immediately.

"Mom, at what time will you drive me to Grandpa then?" I asked, this time with more sense.

"In half an hour," Mom replied, a little annoyed.

I wisely walked away and played with Dad until half an hour passed.

I drove towards Grandpa with Mom.

Soon we were already in Grandpa's driveway.

I opened the door and immediately rang the doorbell.

"Claire and Gabriel?" Jay asked, confused.

"Gabriel wanted to meet you. He said it was urgent. I will place him in your car, Dad."

"Be careful, Gabriel," Claire said, immediately kissing me on the head to say goodbye.

"But I wanted to go golfing," Grandpa said to Mom, who was walking away, though Mom ignored him and drove away.

I started snickering a little, finding this scene funny.

"Do you want to go golfing with Grandpa, Gabriel?" Grandpa asked me with a smile.

"Of course," I happily replied.

"Then let us drive towards the golf club," Grandpa said, stepping into his car.

I opened the door and sat on the seat beside him.

Remembering the scene from before when Mom ignored Dad, I started laughing again.

"If you don't stop laughing, I will stop, and you can go all the way to the golf club," Grandpa said angrily. I was scared. My feet couldn't support me walking all that way.

"No-" I wanted to apologize but saw Grandpa laughing. I knew he tricked me.

It took about 10 minutes, and we arrived at the golf club.

There were quite a few people there.

All people called my grandpa the ACE or The King.

"Why are they calling you with such nicknames?" I asked my grandpa curiously.

"Well. Do you know what a Hole-in-one is?" Grandpa asked.

"Of course. It is when a golfer shoots the ball from the tee directly into the hole within one stroke," I said what I knew proudly.

"Good knowledge, Gabriel," Grandpa said, messing with my hair.

"I once made a Hole-in-one. I was here with your Uncle Mitchell that day," Grandpa said, reminiscing.

"You seem to be really good at golf, Grandpa," Grandpa seemed pretty good at golf.

"Yes, I am," He confirmed my sentence.

We drove around the golf course, and Grandpa played golf.

I thought about how to ask Grandpa about what I wanted to do.

"What is wrong, Gabriel? Do you want to say anything?"

"Does it have anything to do with you wanting to meet me so urgently?" Grandpa saw through me. I knew I couldn't hide it and started explaining how I made the AI and its limitations due to the limited resources.

"You mean. You want me to invest in you? You want to create new Computers to better your AIs?" Grandpa asked while taking a swing.

"Yes, Grandpa, but I can build the AIs I have into your closets. It can communicate with people. It may be limited, but it should be able to show the weather anywhere when asked, and it also has many other functions like a small assistant," I tried to explain the concept of my idea to Grandpa.

"You can try to install it on one of the old closets. We will see how it works," Grandpa said with a smile while stepping into the golf cart to go to the place where the ball landed.

Meanwhile, Jay thought to himself if what his grandson said could be true. If yes it was likely to expand his closet company to a whole new level.

He knew his grandson was considered to be one of the world's smartest people. Being accepted to Caltech at the age of 10 is enough to say it all.

Due to these considerations, he agreed. He would be able to make his grandson happy, and it wouldn't cost him too much.

After Grandpa agreed, time passed by really quickly, and the golfing soon ended.

Grandpa drove towards his company and put a small old closet into the car.

He drove me home and helped me bring the closet up to the attic.

"Thanks, Grandpa," I said excitedly, hugging Grandpa and seeing the closet lying there.

I could see my future in there.

"No problem, little genius," Grandpa left soon after.

I too started working on the closet.

I didn't need to change too much from the AI I created a week ago.

I only needed to saw a hole in the closet where I could put the necessary display and cables in.

I asked my dad for that.

Dad was good at this and was finished in 10 minutes.

I looked at the Display and the cables I already bought a few days ago.

I installed it in three days.

I started the closet with

"Hello Lexi," Lexi was the name I gave the AI prototype.

"Hello," the closet replied.

"How is the weather today?" I asked the closet.

"It is currently sunny with 77°F (25°C) in Los Angeles.

There were a few other small functions on it.

The highlight was still coming though.

"What women's jeans are currently in fashion?" I asked the closet with a hint of excitement in my voice.

"The low-rise jeans of True Religion. Especially the Joey style is currently in trend (this is according to the source of...)"

It worked.

I was relieved. It went perfectly.

It also showed the source if the receiver was curious as to where the opinion came from.

This was a special kind of AI that would probably be built into expensive closets.

Even though the AI only had a limited understanding of fashion, it still needed considerable servers.

It wouldn't be available in all closets.

I was happy and showed the result to Grandpa.

Grandpa was stunned and immediately asked me about every little piece of information about the special closet.

AI closets weren't unheard of, but they were usually used by the big players in the closet industry. Grandpa's company wasn't far away from the small line that separated a big closet company and a middle-to-high closet company.

Grandpa didn't hesitate long and agreed to invest in my resources happily. He didn't even want any shares.

First of all, he said it was due to me being his grandson and second of all, I needed to help update and maintain the AI.

That wouldn't be a problem for me. Due to that, I happily agreed.

Currently, I am sleeping in my bed.

I am happy and looking at the stars.

In the sky, there were wild clouds. The moon was bright, and the night was full of shadows.
