Past (1)

Anne walked out of the training facility with light steps. Her dress and long hair were being blown by the summer breeze. She could not help but reach for her hair to fix it in place.

Anne was reminded of the past.

It was a time when life was simpler.

She could remember her college days.

She was a happy student filled with hopes and dreams for the future.

It was before she started being a model.

She lived her life freely with no worries or obligations.

However, it all changed when their family started having problems.

Her so-called family could no longer support her financially.

It was something she labeled those people with, 'family'. It might have been the whimsical thoughts of a young adult. However, it was just a label, nothing more but empty words that tried to fill up the desire to have a family she could call her own.

It was something she could vividly remember, but trying hard to forget.

With nothing more than her face and body to support herself, Anne needed to find a way to survive.

Anne could only shake her head as she tried to forget such memories.

It was all in the past, there was nothing she could do about it.

She decided to not dwell in the past as she moved her foot in front of her to live in the future.

It only took one step to help her disperse the regrets in her heart from her past.

"If my her heart could do the same," she thought to herself.

Anne did not take the bus this time.

She stood at the street corner to hail a cab.

It did not take long before a cab stopped and asked her, "Where to?"

Anne entered the cab and said her destination.

The cab took off and started smoothly moving through the streets. There was no traffic at this hour which made the trip easier. It only took 10 minutes before she arrived at her destination.

She looked at the building in front of her.

It was a modern style building which was placed in the city center.

She did not want to go to this place anymore, but she had to.

She felt bitter in her heart as she did not know how to deal with the people inside.

She looked up at the building once more, there was something prominent placed on the building. It occupied more than half of the face of the building, it was hard to miss.

It was a billboard advertisement which was capable of attracting any passerby's attention.

The face on the billboard was of a young and beautiful female model. She stood there looking elegant and luxurious while modeling a very popular product.

She gently touched her elbow with her right arm while trying to accentuate the expensive looking diamond studded jewelry she was wearing. She contoured her body with an angle that showcases the value of the product she was trying to promote. That was the most basic thing a model should be able to do. The products are the main attraction, they are nothing more than accessories to accentuate the beauty of the product they are trying to promote. The woman did a fairly good job as Anne looked at the billboard.

If this had happened before she had the accident, she would have been full of criticism. But now, she felt detached to that world. It seemed out of reach which enabled her to view the billboard as nothing more but an advertisement.

She might have believed or tried herself to believe that there was a chance to get back into the one thing she had loved. But that was nothing more than wishful thinking. She was wondering it was truly modeling she loved or the success she was able to achieve because of it.

This was one of the reason's she did not want to visit this place.

For years, her face was the one which was plastered on that building. She dominated the modeling industry which led to a lot of hate and envy.

She stood there in a daze before biting her lower lip. She had to visit as there were some problems with her previous contract. There was a clause in the contract preventing the two parties to remove the model or the agency terminating the contract of the model abruptly. Usually, the company only did this for their famous models. It was what the agency regarded as a safety line in case the company's had the sudden urge to back out or replace the model. In a world where anything could suddenly happen to their stars, they wanted some kind of assurance if anything should occur in the future. Unfortunately for Anne, it happened to her.

This was how she realized that in the end, she was no longer the same as before. Her future was not guaranteed, and this amount of money will be beneficial for her future. She might have saved some money that could support her for the rest of her life, but now she believed that the future is not set in stone. This alone amounted to a couple of million dollars in total. That was due to the number of company's she was contracted with.
