31 Past (2)

In the end, the company fired her. Therefore, there should be some form of compensation from their side because it was their decision to fire her. However, her agency was making it difficult for her to retrieve whatever balance that they were supposed to give. The agency was blaming the company for delaying the release while the company was stating otherwise.

At first, she did not want to be burdened with the process in order to retrieve the money. From the way her former agency was acting, their cold and uncaring attitude made her helpless. She had been waiting for weeks but the reply was the same. It was still under process.

Every time Anne would ask for more information, they would dismiss her. It was hard for her to believe as she had not been working for months now. The agency should have been able to deal with this situation as they had a percentage in the amount of money from the contracts.

She started walking towards the step of her old company with heavy steps.

She felt her feet had turned into led, she wanted to stop walking and turn around to go home.

But deep in her heart, she knew she should not do that.

She had to face it head on, or else she would never be able to move on with her life.

Once she entered the building, she could feel the piercing gazes of the people around her, which she tried to ignore. She approached the front desk.

"Excuse, may I speak with Mr. Vernon Matthews," Anne asked politely.

The front desk lady looked at Anne for a bit. Realizing who she was, a smirk formed on her lips as she continued typing away on her computer. "Do you have an appointment?"

"No, but…"

Before Anne could even explain herself the lady dismissed her and said, "The managers are busy. Unless you have set an appointment, you won't be able to meet them in person."

"Yes, but the process…" Anne tried to speak.

"If you have more questions regarding the process of your previous contract, then you should head to the HR department. If that's all then please excuse me as I'm busy." The lady ignored her completely and continued answering other calls. She knew what Anne came here for but she was uninterested in helping her, there was nothing she could gain from it. She had answered a couple of calls from Anne herself, and she redirected her to a different department just for fun. She wanted this once famous model to suffer. Her lips curved up into a disgusting smile while looking like she was busy at her work.

Some women who were near them started to snigger as they could hear the conversation. The front desk lady made sure to speak as loud as possible making her words clear for everybody to hear.

Anne could only grit her teeth as she walked away. She wanted to ask someone about where she could find the HR department, but as she looked around, the people were staring at her while talking with their colleagues in hushed tones. No one approached her, she began having second thoughts on approaching someone.

She was not familiar with the structure of the building or the common employees working there. This was the first time she had a need to go to the HR department. She was treated like a Queen before, anything that she wanted, she could get with a single request. They would do everything for her, she only needed to look stunning in front of the lens. The sudden change of attitude made her feel cold.

That's right, this was human nature.

This was not the first time Anne experienced this after her accident.

She gripped the strap of her bag tightly and walked in one direction.

Anne backed away and stared at the building directory.

She found the floor and room she needed to go to.
