Chapter 8

The rest of the day I stayed zoned out as our teacher, Eraserhead, droned on and on. I couldn't help but remember what had happened this morning. Not just with Heatwave but the fact that she had an ally now. I was unsure if it was safe for me to fight her anymore. If it wasn't then who would? Nobody else could defeat her as easily as me. Even though I technically lost today she still had stopped burning that house and as long as this went on she would keep going. Soon I was sitting in detention silently. Nobody else was here yet as I had shown up during the last class period. A little while later I heard the door open and Hitoshi walked in. He spotted me and smiled slightly before heading to the seat next to me. Soon after a group of three boys and one girl walked in. They were notorious around the school and called themselves the Bakusquad after their leader Katsuki Bakugou. They were often caught painting on the bathroom walls or cheating on tests. The girl Mina actually seemed really sweet. She just hung out with the wrong crowd. They all took a seat in the back and the teacher officially started detention. Basically we cycle through people telling them what we did to land here. I started with Hitoshi as he was sitting next to me.

"You know why I'm here so why are you here?" I asked him

"Some kids claimed I used my power on them." He mumbled "I didn't since I had no reason to but everyone's been teasing me about it even since I was young." He paused, "I grew up in a shelter after my mom left me. The kids there always hated me since I got special attention. A few of them go here and love to tease me about it, especially since they know the teachers will believe them over me anytime."

"Hitoshi. If you end up here again just let it be known I'm here almost everyday for no good reason. I don't think you would ever use your power for anything bad."

"Thank you." He said just as the teacher rang the bell to switch

He left and I found Mina standing in front of me eating a lollipop.

"Was caught vandalizing the bathrooms." She said calmly "you?"

"Late to class."

"That always sucks. Who'd you have?"

"Eraserhead."

Not only was Eraserhead the strictest teacher in the school, if you do anything wrong you get detention. I had firsthand experience. Some students managed to get on his good side a few years back and they could get away with pretty much anything short of murder.

"Makes sense. He always calls you out on the smallest things. One time I ran to the restroom during his class and took two seconds over three minutes. He gave me detention for that."

"Really?" I laughed "I knew he was strict but not that strict."

She nodded "really" just then the bell rang and we switched again

Nobody came up to me and when I looked around the only person without a partner was Katsuki. I walked up to him reluctantly. He didn't even turn to look at me and I didn't want to start a conversation. The teacher walked up to us after a few seconds.

"Why aren't you two talking?" She asked

"We already finished." Answered Katsuki

"You can't trick me. I've been watching you. You haven't said anything. So go ahead and ask each other why they're here today."

"Why are you here Katsuki?" I asked

"I don't know you tell me."

"Well I don't know."

"You just talked to Mina didn't you?"

"Yeah."

"So what did she say?"

"Vandalizing."

"Great, there's your answer. Now leave me alone."

I was unsure what to do so I sat in a chair near him. Soon after detention ended and I walked in the direction of my apartment.

"Hey, Violet Skull!" I heard someone call behind me

I turned to find Hitoshi "Please call me Eliza."

"Ok, then Eliza. I was wondering if you could help me find my apartment. I only got to go there once yesterday."

"Sure what's the number?"

"256."

"Mine's 249 so we're right by each other. I'll take you there."

"Ok, thanks."

I led him back to his apartment then showed him where mine was so if he needed anything else he could find me. He opened his door and was greeted by Denki. He kissed him in greeting and waved to me as he closed the door. Now I was confused. I thought he was dating Neito but he kissed Denki. Was he dating both of them behind their backs? No, because Denki seemed perfectly fine with them kissing earlier. Now I'm even more confused but I don't want to seem creepy so I just decided to ignore it for now.
