Melting Her Cold Heart

Cheated on by her fiancé weeks before their wedding, Sara, vowed to never love again. Men could not be trusted, especially with a woman's heart. She had made the mistake once, and that was more than enough for her. Never again would she make the same mistake to give her heart to another. But her resolve began to waver when she came across her new boss, Alexander Legend, a man whose reputation in his expertise and ruthlessness in business preceded him. Respected and feared by many, but to Sara, he was an annoying pest she wished she never met. Too persisted for her liking yet, she finds herself falling, slowly melting in his presence. Getting used to his stolen kisses and hugs and sometimes anticipating them. °°°°° Excerpts “You will fall for me, Sara. One day, I'll have your heart too,” Alex drawled. His voice had a seductive allure that had her heart racing. The fact that his hand was leisurely resting around her waist didn't help her either. “Try as much as you want to,” despite her body begging for his touch, Sara was determined to reject him today and any other day. She couldn't make the same mistake again. “You won't succeed in your seduction. NOT NOW. NOT EVER.” Alex smirked, kissed behind her ear and her body trembled, much to his satisfaction. That was all he needed to keep purising the stubborn woman in his arms right now. “We shall see, Miss Ambrose,” he cooed and then released her. He returned to his seat and asked in a professional tone. “What is my schedule for today?”

Dinner invitation

"Aren't you being too direct, President?" Alex's secretary walked in and closed the door behind him. He walked to the president, who now looked so serious that no one would have believed that he was the same person smiling and flirting with a woman just some minutes ago.

"What are you talking about?" He asked as if he didn't know.

"She looks as if she is ready to kill a person, and if I am noy wrong, you are that person," the secretary uttered. He pulled a chair and sat down, placing a document in front of Alex. This is the file. Inside it is the flash drive with everything you'd need to know. And oh… it's your nephew."

Alexander's brows pulled together, but he didn't say a word and picked up the file. Casting aside all other work, he unsealed the document. Inside, it was a single document with a flash drive on top of it.

"I hope you know what you are doing, Alex. Miss Ambrose may not be just an ordinary woman. We assume her to be…" he went silent when Alex glared at him.

"I know what I am doing, Kai," Alex said just to put his secretary at ease. "I knew if her engagement with him. I thought she would be happy without my interference, but I was wrong. I allowed her to get hurt again, but I was… I won't allow it again."

Kai looked at him, wondering what he had left unfinished. But he didn't dare to ask. He might be talking freely with him now, but there was no telling what the next minute would be like. He could go back to being silent as if he were annoyed with the world.

"Forgive me if I said anything wrong," Kai quickly apologized, and he hummed with a nod of his head. "I do hope what I found would be useful to you," saying that, Kai stood up. "Please excuse me, President."

Sara returned to her apartment, still annoyed, but there was nothing that she could do about it. She didn't even know why she accepted the offer but then, if she didn't, everyone of her colleagues would laugh and mock her. Even though she didn't do anything. She didn't need such drama.

Feeling hungry, she decided to make herself some lunch. She didn't have hers because of a certain annoying man who wouldn't stop pestering her unless she accepted his offer.

The moment she entered the kitchen to start with her lunch, a knock on the door interrupted her. Sighing, Sara walked to the door with the apron on her. Opening the door, she frowned.

"What are you doing here?" She asked. Her tone alone was enough to let anyone know that she was not in the mood to see them, but it seems this person right here didn't get the message.

"You are the reason my brother has been miserable, yet here you are, cooking, eating, and having the time of your life," the person at the door clicked her tongue in distaste. "Are you going to invite me in or not?"

Sara stared at the girl who was only two years younger than her and couldn't believe that she still had the Herve to demand to be let inside.

"I am sorry, but my place isn't for entitled little princesses. When you havenlearbed some manners, come back, and I might just let you in," Sara uttered.

"Just who do you think you are…?"

"I ams Sara Ambrose," Sara said, immediately interrupting her. "If you have nothing to do here, Olivia, leave," Sara said as she held the door ready to close it.

" Who wants to be here? Had Grandfather not asked me to invite you home, do you think i will come to this…" she looked inside and scrunched her nose. "Be there tomorrow for dinner," she said, then stormed off.

"What a wench," Sara clicked her tongue. She closed the door and sighed. What an annoying and exhausting day today was. She thought and went ahead to prepare her dinner. From one problem to another while all she wants is to be left alone.

"I'll jusy go because of Mr Crawford, nothing else," she time herself and nodded vigorously.

"I have told her, can I go now?" Olivia asked Adam, who was seated at the driver's seat. She was still annoyed but shebdidnt dare to lash out at her older brother.

"Do you think she will come?" Adam asked. He could have gone up to her apartment and talked to her himself, but he didn't dare. The way she looked at him scared him. It was as if she had long expected something like, and catching him on the act was just there to confirm it. That detached and distance expression in her eyes, it was something that she had never shown to him before.

"How am I supposed to know that? She is your fiancee, go and ask her. If it were up to me, I'd say find someone better. She isn't good enough," Olivia replied. For someone her age, she sounded like an underage child throwing a tantrum.

Adam looked at his sister and wondered if this was the way she had always been. Spoiled to the point oilf no return. Did they do this to her? He wondered, but then he shook his head. She came back angry, and that was probably why she said those things. He reasoned and convinced himself.

"If it were that easy, do you think I wouldn't have?" He sighed and massaged his temple. All he could do right now was wait for dinner tomorrow to talk to her again. Hopefully, she will reconsider, and they can get back together. After all, it would be a wwin-winfor both of them.

While he gets the shares and recognition he wanted from the family, she will get to be the daughter inlaw of a wealthy and influential family. A win-win situation, he repeated over and over again.
