Futile

In the bustling city of New York, within the ordinary facade of an office building, an unexpected disturbance echoed from an underground base. The sudden roar disrupted the usual hum of work.

A voice, laced with arrogance, cut through the tension, "Is Alex in the house? Haha, hope you're not easily scared!" Alex adorned a smile, raising a wine glass but refusing to rise from his seat.

The disruptive scream shattered the air, sending everyone in the base into alarm. "What's happening?" Raven, Emma, Jessica, Hank, and others rushed out, their faces painted with surprise.

Despite vigilant gazes scanning the surroundings, no abnormalities were in sight. Suddenly, a chilling scream echoed from the sky, followed by a group of people plummeting to the ground. "Enemy attack!" The fallen figures were none other than the base guards, signaling a dire situation.

"Stay alert! It's likely the Hellfire Club!" Raven cautioned, taking a deep breath while clenching her fists. For Mystique, it was her first taste of war, and the tension was palpable among the young warriors.

Even seasoned individuals like Emma and Jessica felt the nerves, their awakened abilities notwithstanding. Amidst the chaos, a terrifying scream resonated, drawing attention to a mysterious assailant.

The sound of footsteps followed, as a middle-aged man in a black suit, sporting an eccentric helmet, entered the office building with an air of grace – it was Sebastian.

"STOP!" The armed soldiers shouted, aiming their weapons at Sebastian. Unfazed, he disregarded their warnings and calmly retorted, "Put your hands up!"

"FIRE!" Bullets erupted from the soldiers' guns like a tempest, but Sebastian, with an air of disdain, invoked his "Energy Absorption," rendering the barrage of bullets ineffective.

"FUTILE STRUGGLE!" Sebastian declared as grenades and bazookas descended upon him. A thunderous explosion enveloped his figure, but his confidence remained unshaken.

In the fiery aftermath of the explosion, Sebastian stood triumphant, the impact and flames diminishing in his outstretched hands until they vanished into thin air.

With a charismatic grin, he declared, "Giving it back to you!" and performed a dramatic step, initiating an "energy release." The absorbed explosion's force surged from the soles of his feet, triggering a colossal shockwave that obliterated a building at the base entrance.

As chaos ensued, Raven and others, on the first floor, were gripped with horror. The inexperienced teenagers, confronted with the grim reality of war, forgot their own abilities in nervous anticipation.

A terrified voice echoed outside the door, pleading for mercy. The creaking door swung open, revealing Sebastian. "My name is Sebastian, and I..." he began, but before he could finish, Hank transformed into a blue-haired beast and lunged with a thunderous fist.

"Boom!" A laser cannon erupted from Alex's hand, and a sonic shockwave blasted down from another mutant named Alex. However, Sebastian merely smiled, unaffected by the barrage of attacks. His ability to absorb kinetic energy rendered him impervious.

In a swift and mesmerizing display, the red devil teleported, stunning mutants with the hilt of his knife. Despite their best efforts, the mutants found themselves outmaneuvered and defeated.

Witnessing the chaos, Alex sighed, realizing that improving abilities alone wasn't sufficient. Combat experience and skills were equally crucial. Frustrated, he pondered whether he had adequately explained Sebastian's abilities and lamented the lack of teamwork.

Sebastian, unfazed by the onslaught, addressed the fallen mutants. "Red Devil, you are too harsh. Every one of them is very precious. If you don't have a last resort, don't hurt our kind." He shook his head, smiling, and declared, "Bring them back! These people are our companions. From now on, we will create a glorious future that belongs to mutants together."
